February 5. Woke up to a warm but very foggy and rainy morning. It was late when Sunny came to work, just about 8:00. I had the laundry all washed and the first load in rinsing, and she finished it. It had stopped raining, and she started hanging things outside, but the rain started again after she had hung up just a few items. She brought everything back inside and hung them in the spare room. I was thankful that Daddy had put more ropes up in there. I did a bit of crocheting, spending more time untangling a badly wound skein of yarn than in making stitches. Then I wrote an e-mail to Connie Sue as today is her spiritual birthday. Afterward, I made corrections on Daddy’s copy of Luke, checked on a couple corrections I wasn’t sure I’d made in the computer, and ended up correcting some misspelled words that the computer had underlined and that we didn’t catch when we proofread. It was raining pretty hard when Sunny finished work so she stayed and read a book. Went home just before noon. We warmed up our dinner and ate and then had our nap. This afternoon, I finished up the body of the quarterly newsletter. And this evening, the school students came; and Dallas and Mike each preached their sermons. It was already about 8:00 when they left so we had a late snack and late bath. February 6. The Lord gave us a lovely sunny morning and is sending us rain in torrents this evening. I was so hoping to get out in the sunshine today. It has been so long since I’ve been able to get out. But we had workers here again so weren’t able to go anywhere. Dallas came to chop a bit of kindling, but that didn’t take long. Nendisa and Evelin came and spent almost three hours pulling weeds. Weeds just sprung up everywhere during all the rainy days and nights. Wan came and fixed the back steps and got new screen put onto the kitchen window. It took a while to do just one window as he had to cut thin strips of plywood to tack the wire down. There are a number of windows to be done yet. These screens have been broken and torn since the house was stoned in 2013. Nobody has wanted to tackle the job, but Wan cheerfully volunteered to work on it. Daddy had to help him hold the screen on long enough to get a few staples in it to hold it in place before putting the trim on. So next time, I think Wan will try to bring someone else along to help him. So after untangling more yarn and doing a little more crocheting this morning, I tackled the newsletter. Transferred the pictures of the tracts to the computer from the camera and took them to the ACER to edit them in Kodak Easy Share. Then brought them back to this computer and put one in the newsletter. I couldn’t figure out why page one was so much larger than page two when the content was pretty equal. Finally decided that the letterhead was corrupt so this afternoon, I made a new file with a new letterhead. Yes, praise the Lord, that’s what was needed. Then I blew up the letter and proofread it. Then Daddy proofread it. Then I put the two files (page one and page two) on the flash drive to go to an e-mail in the ACER. This evening, I wrote an e-mail to Christy with a list of acknowledgments to go on their respective newsletters. February 7. Praise the Lord for a nice sunny morning after several hours of rain yesterday evening and into the night. I was so thankful to be able to get out for a walk this morning, the first time in over a week. Before our walk, I did some crocheting, made the bed, and folded Friday’s laundry. After returning from our walk, I enjoyed doing a little Bible study until nearly dinner time. This afternoon, I washed my hair, got three short e-mails ready to be sent, and spent the rest of the afternoon working up the study in Revelation that I’d been trying to complete—chapter 5. I got so absorbed in it, I didn’t realize how long I’d been sitting. Finally took a break and walked around a bit before finishing up the study. Wow! What a fascinating study! Worthy is the Lamb that was slain! This evening, I wrote a short e-mail to C&C and attached the Revelation notes. Then Daddy sent it out. Praise the Lord that e-mails have still been sending fairly well. Then I did the dishes and had a snack before we had our worship time together. “And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God's house: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee.” Genesis 28:22 Jacob promised to give a tenth back to the Lord of all that the Lord would give to him. This was Jacob’s own choice because God had appeared to him and promised to give him the blessing of Abraham, and promised to be with him and to bring him back again to the land that he had given to Abraham and to his seed.

February 3. Very cool and cloudy again this morning. We haven’t been getting as much rain and wind, but the weather is still chilly with very little sunshine. Thankfully, the solar works well on very little sunshine. Got up a little after 6:00 this morning, when I heard the lotu bell ring down at Wanyapeq. Made and drank two refreshing glasses of my Wednesday tea (alfalfa, cinnamon, ginger, reishi, and green jasmine); had quiet time; folded the clothes and put them away: got breakfast ready — cut up a few pieces of popo and made popo syrup and also mashed a banana to go on leftover pancakes, warmed up a couple pancakes, and enjoyed my breakfast. After breakfast, I cut up the rest of the popo and put it away in the fridge; made a fresh batch of kefir; made the bed; and wrote an e-mail to Christy and Connie. The rest of the morning, I worked on the January progress report and got it done just about noon. Daddy proofread it; and after nap, I blew it up and proofread it again. Then I put it into a word file and onto a flash drive to send to Pastor Ogle tomorrow. Then I looked through some missionary songs I had written so I can start teaching some of those to the students. “Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.” Luke 10:20 February 4. The day started out cloudy, chilly, and damp again following rain in the night. In the afternoon, the Lord blessed us with sunshine and blue sky. After writing an e-mail to Pastor Ogle this morning and attaching the January progress report, I spent a good amount of time getting the students’ copies of the next elder/deacon lesson ready to print. About 11:15, I started kitchen duty — cut up a couple onions into the dutch oven, added a quart of water and a couple bouillon cubes, and set the pot of food on the stove to cook until the onions were done. In the mean time, I mixed up some dumplings. As soon as the onions were done, I added the cooked veggies that were in the fridge, plus the little bit of leftover chicken gravy and mashed potatoes. As soon as everything came to a boil again, I dropped in the dumpling dough and let everything boil a few minutes longer until the dumplings were done. Voila! Veggie stew for dinner. Just what Daddy ordered. This afternoon, I worked on the quarterly newsletter until the students came for school. They were all very late, and we thought there must have been some kind of trouble or something. But no, they were all off in their coffee gardens picking coffee. The coffee is all getting ripe and needs to be picked. Coffee is their money and needs to be taken care of when it is ready so, once again, they will have time off school to get that job done. Daddy let Amos preach his sermon this afternoon since he was ready, and they finished the lesson on elders and deacons. After that, however, Amos went home because he wasn’t feeling well. Daddy dismissed the ladies and let Mike and Dallas study for their preaching. This evening, I printed out the students’ copies of the next elder/deacon lesson and the last Bible outline lesson. Punched holes in them, and they are ready to be put into the students’ notebooks. February 1. Inclement weather continues. Praise God for the wood stove and firewood! Spent a good amount of computer time today trying to organize ladies’ meetings lessons using the notes I already have. They need a lot of revision, and other notes will then need to be added. Spent a little time in the kitchen before noon making chicken gravy to go on our mashed potatoes for dinner today. It was a blessing to hear a report from the men of their weekend ministry. Six youth from the village of Marivo and two from here, new believers, had asked for teaching from God’s Word. They all went to Nehemiah’s house, and he and a number of other men, including Mike and Dallas, shared things from the Scripture to help them with their spiritual growth. The young men would like the men to come to Marivo next week to teach them some more. (Amos wasn’t able to go because he had a bad cold.) Had my supper a little early so I wouldn’t be having it late after my class. After class, I made water kefir, took out the garbage, filled up the washing machine, and did the dishes. By then, I was ready for a little sit-down break before I had my bath. February 2. The weather wasn’t quite so cloudy and chilly today, but it is raining this evening. Praise the Lord for fair weather this morning to dry the clothes. Bonita was still not feeling well so did not come to do laundry so I enjoyed doing that job this morning and getting outside to hang them out. Daddy wasn’t ready to take the clothes out to the clothesline for me so he sent Mata to take them out. Due to a disturbing incident that occurred earlier, it was really hard to concentrate on doing any ministry work this morning. Wan came a little later in the morning and put some nails in the pieces of roofing iron that had not been properly fastened down by those who put new roofing iron on before the solar panels were installed. During the strong winds, those pieces were clanging and making quite a racket as the winds zipped and passed underneath, lifting the iron up above the poles where nails had not been placed and then setting them back down again with a clang. I did a little crocheting after getting the laundry done, finishing breakfast, having quiet time, and a few other little jobs. By then it was already mid-morning. I also sorted and washed greens. A little later, I cut them up with some onion and put them in the pressure cooker to cook. I remembered yesterday that I still had carrots in the fridge, and they were needing to be used up, so I got them out and prepared those too. Then it was dinner time. After nap, I looked over my lesson for today. This evening, I made the corrections in the Pidgin file of the gospel of Luke. Saturday night, we had finished proofreading Luke; and last night, we started proofreading Mark which is the last of the New Testament books that we need to proofread. Praise the Lord for His wisdom and help in this awesome and holy task |
