January 21. Thirty-second day of winter. Thank the Lord for a lovely day. Yesterday evening was a difficult one, but an opportunity to give the gospel to a neighbor. Shortly before time for us to go to bed, “J” came by for a visit. I thought he had forgotten about coming again since we hadn’t seen him for some time. We were able to give an explanation of salvation. He did not understand, as the scripture says, the natural man cannot receive spiritual things. But he did a lot more listening this time than last time, and the gospel was repeated several times by Daddy or Connie or me. It was quite late when he left, and Daddy and I were both over-tired. Neither of us slept until after 4:30. Finally drifted off and woke up around 7:30. Got up and had shower, breakfast, and quiet time. I didn’t need to hurry as I would be staying home with Christy while Daddy and Connie went to church. Daddy went back to bed for a while after his breakfast, and he and Connie went to the 11:30 meeting. Connie said she had slept okay so I was happy for her. We all listened to the early meeting livestream, and Christy and I also listened to the late morning meeting. Daddy slept again this afternoon for about an hour, and I slept about forty-five minutes beyond that. Felt a bit refreshed after that. Before supper, Daddy and I went off to the hospice center to visit James. It seems like a much more pleasant environment there than at the nursing home, and James looked clean and well taken care of. He said he knew who we are; and although he was too weak to carry on a conversation, he could say “yes” and “no.” Daddy read him John 3:16,17, and we asked James if he had believed on Jesus as his Savior. He said “yes” and Daddy asked if it were a long time ago. His answer was “no” which indicated to us that someone else must have shared the gospel with him. Then Daddy read John 14:1-3 to him as verses of comfort. The a/c went on and blew on Daddy’s head so I went over to the other side of the bed and stood with my back to the a/c to block it from blowing on Daddy. When Daddy was done talking, I asked James if he would like me to sing to him. He said “yes” so I sang “Jesus Loves Me.” It was a delight to see a smile come on his face. Very slowly he managed to get his hand out from under the sheet that was covering him and to shake our hands good-bye. We felt much comforted that he seemed to understand the gospel and to know that he is saved. I was grateful that there were only a few dishes this evening. Didn’t even need to use the drying mat as there was no overflow. Daddy took another nap this evening, and afterward we listened to an excellent missionary message by Pastor Pallotta of FBC in TN.

January 19. Thirtieth day of winter. Not quite as cold this morning, but still in the 20’s. Warmed up to around 50. Ahhh, warm sunshine! Thank you, Lord. Started laundry right away this morning and let it wash while I had breakfast and quiet time. Christy didn’t have to go to work until 9:30 today, and she was glad to be back home before 3:00 as she has a cold and hasn’t been feeling that well. Right after Christy left for work, Daddy and I left for the week’s shopping. A day late this week due to the weather. There were hardly any people out shopping this morning. There was hardly any produce on the shelves at Aldi. Their trucks hadn’t been able to get in. I was quite excited, however, to find grass fed ground lamb at Aldi. I don’t handle ground beef that well. Lidl had plenty of produce, and we bought a few items there. WalMart had produce sale prices marked a penny less than Lidl. Their organic bananas were less than their regular bananas so we were able to buy organic today. Shortly before we came home, Mary M came by with Connie’s final secret sister gift—a beautiful quilt that she had pieced together and Joan P had stitched. She had just left when we called Connie to let her know we were on our way home. I still need to get her gift made, but will need to take it to her at her house. Even though we went to three stores, we still arrived home a little after 11:30. After we put groceries away, Daddy went off to Subway for his lunch, and I warmed up a cupful of soup and drank it. Then I sewed the button eyes and mouth onto Christy’s snowman and stitched around the two head pieces, lightly stuffing it before I closed it up. This afternoon, I printed out some papers for Christy to fill in. Also a man came by trying to sell us boxes of restaurant meat that was left over from his sales to restaurants. He was offering us a good price, but we had to buy it by cases, and we don’t want to put out that much money. After the man left, Daddy and Christy went to meet Mel L and Beth at a couple of houses so Mel could look them over for us. Ellen was with Mel, and they both came here afterward to report on what Mel had seen. Both houses have a number of problems, and both have old wiring. This evening, I made a savory lamb patty for my supper with part of the ground lamb we had bought today. Ruth called to say that James is now in hospice. Late this evening, I finished Christy’s snowman. Praise the Lord for His help. That is ready now for her to give to her secret sister. “O LORD, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches.” Psalm 104:24 It is such a delight to read through the Psalms and meditate on them. They are so full of praise to the Almighty God, the God of gods, and have so many reminders of all His wondrous works. And we have evidence all around us of His mighty works. The earth is full of His riches! Compare Psalm 33:5—The earth is full of the goodness of the Lord.
January 20. Thirty-first day of winter. 29º this morning, but went up to 60 today, and the Lord gave us sunshine too. This morning, I made a cookie mix for my secret sister and printed out the recipe for making up the cookies. Crocheted a jar topper to go on the jar of mix and put the gift, recipe, and greeting card all together in a gift bag. This afternoon and evening, I transferred this past week’s photos to the computer and spent a good amount of time getting those edited. Ruth called again this evening to let me know that she and Tammy had gone to see James at the hospice center. Also told me that people from Maranatha Baptist Church had been by to talk with her and had left her a tract called “How to Be 100% Sure of Heaven.” I’m so thankful for that church going out visiting, and told her it was a good church and that was good literature for her to read. Assured her of our prayers for her and James and told her I love her. Hope we can get out to see James soon. “And when ye reap the harvest of your land, thou shalt not make clean riddance of the corners of thy field when thou reapest, neither shalt thou gather any gleaning of thy harvest: thou shalt leave them unto the poor, and to the stranger: I am the LORD your God.” Leviticus 23:22 Once again, God tells of how much He cares for the poor, and how we should do the same.
January 17. Twenty-eighth day of winter. Oh, what a beautiful morning! It cheers the heart to get up in the morning and see the world all dressed in white. Snow! Pure white snow! And the snow kept drifting down from the heavens nearly all day long. Thank you, Lord, for Thy beautiful snow. “For he saith to the snow, Be thou upon the earth….” Psalm 37:6a The morning was busy with taking pictures of the snow, reorganizing my dresser drawers, emptying a couple of them with things to pack, packing, making a mini crocheted hat for one of the snowmen (for my sit down break), making coleslaw and hamburgers for Daddy’s lunch. Afternoon was spent packing another bucket, working on a John lesson, and crocheting the hat for the other snowman. This evening, I completed the second snowman and made crocheted chains to make both snowmen into necklaces. “7Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy: for I am the LORD your God. 8And ye shall keep my statutes, and do them: I am the LORD which sanctify you.” Leviticus 20:7,8 God gives His people another exhortation to be holy, because He is our God. We show that we are holy by obedience to His word. It is the Lord who sets us apart and makes us holy. January 18. Twenty-ninth day of winter. A very cold night—down to sixteen out here when we got up. Turned out to be a beautiful sunny day. Took more pictures of the snow as soon as the sun started shining on it before the snow started melting. Once the snow started melting, it melted fast and furiously, falling off the trees and power lines like giant snowflakes. Daddy and I both overslept this morning, not waking up until 6:40. Consequently the morning went quickly. After taking pictures, I tried working at the computer, but my legs and feet got much too cold in the office. So I propped my feet up on a stool in front of the heater in the living room and crocheted the hat for the snowman Christy wants made for her secret sister. This afternoon, the Lord helped me to complete a John lesson for Mike. Then I got another bucket packed and afterward crocheted the face for Christy’s snowman. After doing the dishes this evening, I cooked a veggie medley of mushrooms, zucchini, and a little bit of leftover slaw mix. Later, I crocheted the back of the snomwan’s head. “24….I am the LORD your God, which have separated you from other people…. 26And ye shall be holy unto me: for I the LORD am holy, and have severed you from other people, that ye should be mine.” Leviticus 20:24b,26 The LORD our God has separated us from other people. He wants us to be different from other people so that we can be His. Surely we are to be holy because He is holy. We are not to be like the world or to walk after the ways of the people around us. January 15. Twenty-sixth day of winter. Temperatures about the same as yesterday, but wonderful sunshine beaming in through the south windows. Another night with little sleep. Got up around 12:30 for some warm almond milk, a ParaSmart capsule, and a few almonds, but still didn’t get to sleep until after 2:30. As I lay awake, I got to thinking about the symptoms and knew what I would have to do. Back to ParaSmart again. Most of my morning was spent in the kitchen. After breakfast, I cleaned out the blender, putting the rest of the soup into a cup and a jar for my lunch. Then I made almond flavored banana-tofu pudding. Sat down at the computer and rested my legs a while after that. Got the pictures transferred that I couldn’t transfer last night because both cameras had dead batteries. Got the pictures all edited and put into January’s folder. Then back to the kitchen to make this week’s soup—creamy veggie soup with lentils and millet. By the time that was on to cook, it was lunch time so warmed up the rest of last week’s soup and had that for lunch. Then I resized the pictures that I had put into the computer earlier. This afternoon, I sent out all the monthly e-mail updates to our supporting churches, and this evening I sent out the last four which were for individual supporters. Also got journal notes ready for Connie and sent those to her along with pictures. “….Ye shall be holy: for I the LORD your God am holy.” Leviticus 19:2b Likewise saith the Lord in the New Testament to all His redeemed. “15But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; 16Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.” I Peter 1:15,16 January 16. Twenty-seventh day of winter. Another sub-freezing morning. First thing this morning, I tossed a load of clothes into the washing machine, had morning drinks and started quiet time, put most of the washed clothes into the dryer and hung up a few to air dry, fixed my breakfast (a bowl of fruit and tofu pudding, and a cup of soup), filled a small bottle with water, grabbed my prayer notebook and jacket, and Daddy and I headed off for Forest City. Spent a long time looking through things at Jay’s. Spent quite a while looking everything over, but bought mostly juices and snacks. We did get a few other things too, like frozen veggies and some bacon for Connie. After Jay’s, we went over to WalMart to get raisins, water, yarn, and glue sticks. I also found a nice pair of slippers which I am putting away for the future. After that, we headed home. It was just about noon when we arrived back at the house. After putting everything away, we had lunch, and shortly thereafter, nap. This afternoon and evening, I started making some crocheted snowman necklaces for Christy and worked a bit on the John lesson for Mike. “9And when ye reap the harvest of your land, thou shalt not wholly reap the corners of thy field, neither shalt thou gather the gleanings of thy harvest. 10And thou shalt not glean thy vineyard, neither shalt thou gather every grape of thy vineyard; thou shalt leave them for the poor and stranger: I am the LORD your God.” Leviticus 19:9,10 Throughout the Bible, we find that God has always cared about the poor and desires that His people do the same.
January 14. Twenty-fifth day of winter. Back to wintry weather with 24º this morning. Only rose about ten degrees throughout the day. After all the preparations for leaving early for church this morning, I did not sleep well last night. Had gone to bed early, and slept for about two hours. Then I woke up with a severe headache, and my head feeling light and unwell. It’s hard to describe the feeling, but it’s the kind of feeling I get when I’m not handling a certain supplement. From 4:00 until after 5:00, I pretty much lay awake all together, and finally got up for a drink of almond milk and a bite to eat. (Daddy was awake during that time too.) Consequently, I did not get up at 6:00 as planned. I did get up around 6:30, mainly because I needed to get some food into my system. Then Daddy woke up with vertigo so he was in no shape to go anywhere this morning. So Christy and Connie went off to church together. After I finished my quiet time, I went back to bed. After watching the first service, Daddy went for a morning nap. We both had long naps again this afternoon. This evening, I did dishes, and started a little crochet project. Connie took pictures of Lewis and me as IBC had requested a new photo. Then we sat and discussed the pros and cons of the two houses Christy is considering. “3After the doings of the land of Egypt, wherein ye dwelt, shall ye not do: and after the doings of the land of Canaan, whither I bring you, shall ye not do: neither shall ye walk in their ordinances. 4Ye shall do my judgments, and keep mine ordinances, to walk therein: I am the LORD your God. 5Ye shall therefore keep my statutes, and my judgments: which if a man do, he shall live in them: I am the LORD.” Leviticus 18:3-5 God’s people are not to follow the ways of the world (the land of Egypt) nor the ways of the heathen (the land of Canaan). We are to do only God’s judgments, to keep only His ordinances and statutes. Only God is our LORD. January 12. Twenty-third day of winter. A warm, cloudy, rainy day. Very warm during the night. It was already up to today’s high when we got up this morning. Front came through this afternoon and temperature has been dropping. Lots of loud music and partying all through the night and much of the day today. It seems like the more we pray, the harder Satan works to destroy these lives. So do we stop praying? By no means. Only God can make a difference in these lives, and prayer can move the heart of God. Nothing is impossible with God, even the hardened hearts of these people so bound by sin and Satan. Cooked some quinoa for my breakfast which I enjoyed with seaweed, walnuts, and leftover chicken gravy. While laundry was washing this morning, I wrote an e-mail and did a couple other odd jobs. When the wash was done and some in the dryer while other things were hung around the house, Daddy and I finished checking John 16. Praise the Lord for His guidance with that. Then I cooked a small saucepan of carrots and peas, browned some ground beef, made a gravy, and put those together in a casserole dish with leftover lima beans. Topped that all off with cheese, and then leftover mashed potatoes. Put in oven and make corrections for John 16 while waiting for the casserole to get hot. That would be Daddy’s dinner for the next few days. After lunch, we waited a while before going to nap to see if the noise would die down. Finally, all but one of the visiting vehicles with boom music left so we went ahead to nap. Music was still somewhat loud so we put a CD with hymns in our music box to help us relax and get some rest. After nap, I remembered that I was supposed to get a greeting card out in the mail so took care of that first. Then I got John 16 all set up in the print file and also the English for chapter 17. This evening, I crocheted a couple roses and looked through some other patterns.
January 13. Twenty-fourth day of winter. Icy wind and lower temperature today, but the Lord gave us warm, welcome sunshine too. Daddy and I didn’t wake up until 6:30 this morning. Had shower. Made sunny-side up eggs for Daddy’s breakfast to go with his pancakes (leftover). Had quiet time. Whipped up a smoothie for my breakfast. Then Daddy and I went out to WalMart to get water (which they were out of yesterday) and a couple small items. I was really excited to find some 7 oz. skeins of Mainstays yarn for only $1.97 each, and they had the colors I was wanting to buy for the pastors’ and deacons’ wives in Owena—the flag colors –black, red, and yellow gold. They were short two skeins of the yellow gold, however, so I hope they get more in. If not, maybe I can order them. After we got back, I crocheted the leaves for the flowers I had made last night, and started on a bracelet band to which to attach one of the flowers. We had an early lunch, and left here around 12:15 to meet Beth at a house. Just as we had gotten in the car to leave, she texted Christy and wondered if we had gotten behind. She thought she had let Christy know that she would meet us at a different house at 11:45, but she hadn’t; and she had been waiting there for us. So she left there and went to the other house, and we arrived there about the same time. House needs a lot of work, so it would never do. Only spent a short time there and then headed for the other one. That was a smaller house, but laid out well so there is a good amount of useable space. A lovely little house with lots of windows to let in sunlight. Took my crocheting with me and finished the bracelet band in the car. The other flower was fastened with two-sided tape to an envelope with a card in it. Got back to the house about 1:30 and lay down for nap shortly thereafter. This afternoon, I looked for a diabetic appropriate cookie recipe and made a card with the recipe on it. Will attach the card later to a jar of cookie mix for a gift. This evening, I got food ready for tomorrow since we are going to try to make it to the early morning meeting. Then I read some more of the story of John Paton before and after our family time—so hard to put the book down; so challenging and humbling. If I only had half the faith of John Paton and half the love that he had for the Lord and for the souls of men, what great things God might do yet among the Owena people and those who live around them! “1A Psalm or Song for the sabbath day. It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High: 2To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night, 3Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; upon the harp with a solemn sound.” Psalm 92:1-3 Here is something that is good for me to do, and if it is good for me to do, then I ought to do it. I ought to give thanks unto the LORD. I ought to sing praises unto His name. I ought to show forth His lovingkindness in the morning. And I ought to show forth His faithfulness every night. I can do that with my voice. I can do that with musical instruments. But I must remember, it is good for me to do all those things. Help me, Lord, to do what is good. January 10. Twenty-first day of winter. Already 49º when we got up this morning and up to 57º by mid-afternoon. Thankful to have a little break from the extreme cold. Praise the Lord for helping us finish the checking of John 15 this morning and almost half of chapter 16. After that I printed update letters and envelopes, wrote a note on Mary’s, and gave them to Connie to stuff, seal, stamp, and put out in the mail. Daddy went off to Gaffney to get milk for C&C. In the meantime, I wrote a couple thank you notes and then worked on the Scripture print file, getting the font resized for a couple more chapters of John. Had lunch; and after Daddy got home, we had nap. After nap, I finished up the resizing of John so am now ready to add chapters 14 and 15. Also got a shopping list made for tomorrow. Then I heated up some frozen lima beans for Daddy’s supper and afterward washed the dishes. About ten past six, we left to pick up Cindie and go to church. Prayed with “S” this evening. She said her Mom and Dad have been pretty sick with the flu but are recovering. Pastor Surrett said that Mrs. Surrett has been quite sick also. Pastor Ogle continued teaching on the ark and the mercy seat. This evening’s lesson was very encouraging, thought-provoking, and sobering. “1Maschil of Ethan the Ezrahite. I will sing of the mercies of the LORD for ever: with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations. 2For I have said, Mercy shall be built up for ever: thy faithfulness shalt thou establish in the very heavens…. 5And the heavens shall praise thy wonders, O LORD: thy faithfulness also in the congregation of the saints…. 8O LORD God of hosts, who is a strong LORD like unto thee? or to thy faithfulness round about thee? 24But my faithfulness and my mercy shall be with him: and in my name shall his horn be exalted…. 33Nevertheless my lovingkindness will I not utterly take from him, nor suffer my faithfulness to fail…. 52Blessed be the LORD for evermore. Amen, and Amen.” Psalm 89:1,2,5,8,24,33,52 A number of verses in this chapter that bring to remembrance God’s faithfulness. And the chapter ends with this benediction: “Blessed be the LORD for evermore. Amen, and Amen.” January 11. Twenty-second day of winter. Fair temperatures but rainy. We left here around 9:00 to shop. I don’t enjoy shopping that much, but it’s always nice to talk to people. Met up with Carolyn at Aldi this week. (Hadn’t seen her for several weeks.) It is always a joy to talk with her. She is always cheerful and loves to talk about the Lord. Saw Jeri S at WalMart—she was waiting for the nail salon to open. Ruth I. called while I was picking out socks at K-Mart. (K-Mart had a great sale on their winter socks. Had bought four pair last week, and there were still lots there today so bought ten more pair. Should have plenty of socks now to go to PNG.) Ruth wanted to let me know that she had received the birthday card I sent her. She said that James had been in the hospital again, but is back in the nursing home. From there, we headed across to the Dollar Tree on Marion Street so I could get a couple anniversary cards. Also got a larger gift bag for the baby things, and Daddy got some socks and a Sudoku book. Met up with Charles on the way in. Finally arrived home a little after 11:30. Got the food put away, and then it was lunch time. After nap, I wrote an e-mail and then got John 14 and 15 all set up in the Scripture print file, plus the English for John 16. This evening, besides doing dishes, I got part of a lesson written on John chapter 7, for Mike to use in his preaching. “1He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. 3Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. 4He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler... 14Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. 15He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. 16With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.” (Psalm 91:1-4 & 14-16) What a wonderful Psalm! How it comforts my soul to know that God cares so much for me!
January 8. Nineteenth day of winter. In the upper 20’s this morning—a wee bit warmer than it has been. Cloudy today. I remembered during the night that I hadn’t set the black beans in a pan to soak and that I was intending to make black bean soup this morning. So as soon as I came out to the kitchen, I put some beans in a pan of boiling water to soak. They soaked for a couple hours while I had quiet time, cooked oatmeal for breakfast and ate breakfast, made the bed, and looked for a black bean soup recipe. Then I started the beans cooking while I added veggies and seasoning. After the soup was on to cook, I transferred and edited pictures that I had taken yesterday evening and sent some of those along with journal notes to Connie. Started writing our monthly update. Fixed mashed potatoes for Daddy and made gravy from the chicken broth that had been saved from the chicken I cooked on Saturday. He had leftover chicken and veggies to go with the taters and gravy for lunch. This afternoon, I finished writing the update and we proofread it so it is ready for sending out to supporters. Made a new income report file for Daddy for 2018. “10For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. 11For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. 12O LORD of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.” Psalm 84:10-12 How much better to be a humble servant of the LORD and stay close to Him than to be exalted and live a life of sin and wickedness. God has promised to those who live humbly with Him to be a sun (He’ll give us light) and shield (He’ll be our protector) for them. He has promised to give us grace (kindness, favor) and glory (honor). And He has promised that He will not withhold any good thing from them that walk uprightly. What blessings abound to those who trust the LORD!. January 9. Twentieth day of winter. The Lord gave us a lovely day with the welcome warmth of sunshine. It was still only 39º when Daddy hung out the clothes. Bedding had gone into the dryer so I could get the bed made up before our nap, but he volunteered to hang out the rest. My hands get much too cold at that temperature. If it is in the upper 40’s or so, I don’t mind too much. While the clothes were washing, we did some translation checking. Chapter 14 went quickly, praise the Lord, helping us to reach the two-thirds point in the book of John. When Daddy came back in from hanging clothes, we started on chapter 15, but ran into some snags so only finished about ten verses. We are so thankful for the Lord’s guidance in this awesome task. I realized this morning that I had been using size 11 font since I started putting John into the print file, whereas I was using size 10 previously. So went back and started changing John to size 10. Got the first four chapters done in the morning and another four in the afternoon. “4Rejoice the soul of thy servant: for unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul. 5For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee.” Psalm 86:4,5 Amen! How God’s goodness rejoices the soul of His servant! I’m so thankful that He is always ready to forgive and that He is always plenteous in mercy to ALL that call upon Him. January 7. Eighteenth day of winter. Another frigid morning. Filtered sunshine today. Lewis’s 17th spiritual birthday. EBC started the new schedule today with the first service at 8:45. We weren’t able to get there this week for that service, but did get there in time for Sunday school at 10:00. Sunday school was followed by prayer time, choir practice, and fellowship time, after which was the regular morning service in the auditorium from 11:30 to 12:30. Karen C taught the ladies’ class this morning and will be teaching for two more weeks. She started teaching today on self-confrontation vs. self-esteem and a good self image, the latter two being unbiblical. When Karen finishes, Mrs. Ogle will finish up the teaching in the book she had been teaching from. Various volunteers will teach until Pastor Ogle has the plans ready for the new Sunday school program. Hannah (F) S was in our class today with her mother, Susie F. from PNG. Pastor Ogle preached the last sermon on Peter today from Acts 12 about Peter’s deliverance from prison. After church, we came home via SC and filled Christy’s car with gas and Daddy’s mug with coffee at Flying J. It was going on 2:00 before we got home and after 2:30 before we got to nap. This afternoon (what was left of it after a late nap) and this evening, I searched for some crochet patterns online, cooked a zucchini mushroom mix for my supper, cooked greens to go with Daddy’s dinner tomorrow, made icing and frosted the ginger cookies I had made the other day, ate some of the veggies I had cooked, did the dishes, gave Daddy a birthday gift (for his spiritual birthday) and sang happy birthday to him; then we listened to the early morning preaching online. “For I am the LORD that bringeth you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: ye shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.” Leviticus 11:45 God’s people, whom He delivered from Egypt, were to be holy, because God is holy. We too, have been delivered from Egypt, from the place of bondage, from the bondage of sin and Satan. Therefore we also are to be holy, because our Deliverer is holy. The Lord tells us this in I Peter 1:15,16, “15But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; 16Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.” January 5. Sixteenth day of winter. So cold! But so thankful not to have gotten the bad snow that made its way up the east coast. Got a late start this morning. It was just too cold to get out of bed. Didn’t even have breakfast until well after 9:00. Couldn’t find a good place to sit for quiet time. Much too cold in the bedroom. Eyes hurt too much in the rooms where the heat was blowing. Finally ended up in the office close to the doorway of the kitchen (which has only a small space heater), as far away as I could get from the heat. After quiet time, I cooked some veggies to go with my rice. Put a load of clothes in to wash. We did not hang them out today, although Daddy took a few of the things that we hung in the house and hung them outside in the afternoon. Daddy and I checked the first half of John 13 while clothes were washing, and I did a little crocheting while we were checking. Praise the Lord for warm sunshine this afternoon and the temperature going up to 35º. We even felt the warmth in the house for a while this afternoon. Finished checking John 13 after nap and did a little more crocheting. Finished one leg for the doll and part of another. I also got corrections made on chapter 13 and added it to the print file. Also added chapter 14 in English so it is ready whenever we check chapter 14 Pidgin. This evening, I finished the doll's legs, dress, and face. Now I just need to make her some hair and she will be done, ready for the baby shower on Sunday. The little doll will go to the baby’s big sister. “So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever: we will shew forth thy praise to all generations.” Psalm 79:13 May this be our desire and purpose of heart. January 6. Seventeenth day of winter. Another icy cold morning, but sunshine to brighten the day. Today I worked mostly on the doll. Had to get it finished and ready for tomorrow. I did cook some chicken for Daddy’s dinner today, which he had with leftover rice and veggies. At 11:30, we went out to meet Beth and look at a house. We were there about an hour and a half, looking at the house and talking with Beth. It’s a pretty nice house — has lots of room and even has a backup gas generator. There are several other houses we would like to look at and then perhaps come back to this one, depending on which one Christy and Connie think they’ll like best and will be most suitable for their needs. It was after 1:00 when we got back to the house and had lunch, and after 2:00 before we got to nap. It was almost 4:00 before I got up from nap. Had a smoothie and got busy finishing up the dolly, taking pictures, and wrapping the gifts for the shower tomorrow. Had almost forgotten about supper. It was 7:00 before I finally had my supper fixed and sat down to eat. This evening, I transferred pictures to the computer and edited them so they are ready to send to Connie on Monday with journal notes. Also looked for crochet patterns for my next project. |
