January 17. Twenty-eighth day of winter. Oh, what a beautiful morning! It cheers the heart to get up in the morning and see the world all dressed in white. Snow! Pure white snow! And the snow kept drifting down from the heavens nearly all day long. Thank you, Lord, for Thy beautiful snow. “For he saith to the snow, Be thou upon the earth….” Psalm 37:6a The morning was busy with taking pictures of the snow, reorganizing my dresser drawers, emptying a couple of them with things to pack, packing, making a mini crocheted hat for one of the snowmen (for my sit down break), making coleslaw and hamburgers for Daddy’s lunch. Afternoon was spent packing another bucket, working on a John lesson, and crocheting the hat for the other snowman. This evening, I completed the second snowman and made crocheted chains to make both snowmen into necklaces. “7Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy: for I am the LORD your God. 8And ye shall keep my statutes, and do them: I am the LORD which sanctify you.” Leviticus 20:7,8 God gives His people another exhortation to be holy, because He is our God. We show that we are holy by obedience to His word. It is the Lord who sets us apart and makes us holy. January 18. Twenty-ninth day of winter. A very cold night—down to sixteen out here when we got up. Turned out to be a beautiful sunny day. Took more pictures of the snow as soon as the sun started shining on it before the snow started melting. Once the snow started melting, it melted fast and furiously, falling off the trees and power lines like giant snowflakes. Daddy and I both overslept this morning, not waking up until 6:40. Consequently the morning went quickly. After taking pictures, I tried working at the computer, but my legs and feet got much too cold in the office. So I propped my feet up on a stool in front of the heater in the living room and crocheted the hat for the snowman Christy wants made for her secret sister. This afternoon, the Lord helped me to complete a John lesson for Mike. Then I got another bucket packed and afterward crocheted the face for Christy’s snowman. After doing the dishes this evening, I cooked a veggie medley of mushrooms, zucchini, and a little bit of leftover slaw mix. Later, I crocheted the back of the snomwan’s head. “24….I am the LORD your God, which have separated you from other people…. 26And ye shall be holy unto me: for I the LORD am holy, and have severed you from other people, that ye should be mine.” Leviticus 20:24b,26 The LORD our God has separated us from other people. He wants us to be different from other people so that we can be His. Surely we are to be holy because He is holy. We are not to be like the world or to walk after the ways of the people around us.
