August 19. Daddy and I both overslept this morning. We were still ready early to head out to C&C’s house, however. Even got there in time to make my smoothie before the first service started. In the first service today, Pastor Ogle continued his message from last week, Isaiah 55:8,9, How do we respond when God doesn’t act the way we think He should act? Summarizing last week’s sermon: Abraham saw God’s salvation. Joseph saw His sovereignty. Moses saw His supply. Joshua saw His strength. Namaan saw His simplicity. We must let God be God. Job 42:1-6—Job saw God’s superiority. When we see our inferiority, the response is (or should be) repentance. David, I Chronicles 16:7-10—David saw God’s song. Has your difficulty silenced your song? Isaiah 53—Isaiah saw God’s suffering. Hebrews 12:3—Have you seen your sin in the light of His terrible suffering? Paul saw God’s sufficiency, II Corinthians 12:7-9. Revelation 1:12-19—John saw God’s supremacy. God is worthy! In between meetings, I listened to music, prayed, and crocheted. In the second meeting, Pastor Ogle finished up I Peter. I Peter 5:10-14—God Is Growing You. Suffering will last only a little while, but the glory we have in Christ is eternal. We must use suffering as a way to grow our faith. 1) The grace of God, v.10,12. He is God, the God of ALL grace. God’s grace covers every need and is available for every believer. The God of grace has called us to eternal glory. 2) The glory of God, v. 10,11. It is eternal. God has always been glorious and will always be glorious. Dominion—God is in control of everything. 3) The growth of Christians, v.10—after ye have suffered a while. Suffering helps us to grow, makes us perfect. Do you see suffering as equipping you for a ministry? 4) The greetings. Greeting one another is an important part of the church. We must interact with one another. Conclusion: Have you thanked God for allowing you to grow through suffering? By the time Daddy had eaten lunch and we had come back to the apartment, it was going on 3:00. It was after 4:00 when I got up from nap. After getting a drink and a little snack, I got out the painting supplies and proceeded to finish my painting. Praise the Lord, it is now done and ready to be varnished.

August 17. On our way to the girls’ house this morning, we made a stop at WalMart to get some bananas. That didn’t take long because the store wasn’t busy, and we just used the self-checkout. The first order of business after we got here was to put away food in fridge. Next I put the clothes in the washing machine and set it going. Then I made a smoothie, and I drank it while the computer was warming up and I was looking at e-mails. Answered a couple e-mails before Daddy and I went outside to hang up clothes. After that we finished checking I Corinthians 12 and also did chapter 13 which was short and also went rather quickly compared to chapter 12. We’re so thankful for the Lord’s wisdom and guidance. Then it was time to get dinner. There was leftover spaghetti so just had to make the sauce. We had brought ground beef, and it was thawed and ready to cook. But where was the spaghetti sauce? Uh, it was back at the apartment somewhere. So Daddy made a quick run up to Food Lion and bought some spaghetti sauce. I also washed up the beet greens that I had cut off the beets that we bought yesterday. Added those in a pot to the spinach we had bought and soon lunch was ready. During and after eating lunch, I made corrections in the 1 Corinthians file and then set up chapters 12 and 13 in the print file. Also added chapter 14 in English. Christy had come home early today (before noon), and she was really tired so she took her nap first. Then Daddy and I had a nap. After nap, I spent the rest of the afternoon acknowledging the rest of our supporters via e-mail and sending them the August newsletter. ”2And he said, The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; 3The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence. 4I will call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.” II Samuel 22:2-4 The LORD is my rock (my strength, a firm immoveable foundation). He is my fortress (a stronghold, a place of defense, safety, and security). He is my deliverer (the one who carries me away safely, who causes me to escape; my rescuer). He is the God of my rock (the rock is Jesus—I Corinthians 10:4). He is my shield (my protection, cover from danger, security from assault or injury). He is the horn of my salvation (horns of animals serve as weapons of offense or defense; a horn is a symbol of strength, honor, glory, power, dignity). He is my high tower (a lofty or inaccessible place; a place of safety from the enemy). He is my refuge (a retreat, a place to flee to). He is my saviour (He saves me from violence; He saves me from sin; He saves me from death; He saves me from trouble; my avenger, preserver, helper, rescuer). He is all that I need. He is worthy to be praised! August 18. The day started a little later this morning—about 6:30. Shower and dress; straighten bed; fix eggs to go with Daddy’s breakfast pancake; have morning drinks and review memory verses; put amaranth on to cook for my breakfast and start learning new Bible verses; eat breakfast and read chapter in Ezekiel; go outside for some exercise while the morning was still cool; start prayer time; wash dishes; finish prayer time; sort through some mail and get rid of some. While I was washing dishes, Daddy was gone to the girls’ house to get the spaghetti sauce that we forgot to bring home yesterday evening. 😊 My last job of the morning was to clean one wall of the shower again with the mold removing spray, cleaning all the way out from the shower to the doorway. That was quite a sweaty job and took about an hour. Since the foam from the spray runs down the wall onto the floor, the floor (part of it anyway) got a scrubbing as well. I’m happy that things are looking much cleaner, and I feel much better about taking a shower in there. By the time that job was done, it was lunch time. After nap, I painted for a couple hours. I just have the flowers left to do, and I think the painting will be done. After supper, I finished up a Sunday school lesson. Then around 6:30, we left to go play games with C&C. “The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God.” II Samuel 23:3 How our country needs a ruler who is just and who fears God! How the churches in this nation need leaders who are just and who fear God! How the homes in this nation need fathers who are just and who fear God! August 15. A little after 8:00 this morning, we were ready to go to C&C’s house. Daddy wanted to go to Lidl and WM first, however, to get some milk and water. So off he went. An hour and a half went by. He was still gone, and there was no word from him. He had had trouble with the car not starting again. Also discovered that the oil cap was missing. It must not have been put back on the last time the oil was changed (about three weeks ago). He was at WalMart when the van wouldn’t start so went to the automotive department for help. Ronnie jump started it so Daddy could drive around to the automotive section. They didn’t have any oil caps so sent Daddy to Auto Zone to pick up an oil cap. Then they reimbursed him for it. The car was still having problems starting so they checked out the battery, starter, and alternator; they were fine. They checked the cable connections and discovered that one cable was loose. They couldn’t tighten it up and didn’t have a part to fix it so they did a temporary thing and added a small screw. It was about 10:00 when Daddy finally got back to the apartment. Then we threw a few items into the van and headed for C&C’s. After we got there, I fixed a smoothie and started up the computer. Finished writing yesterdays’ journal notes because I hadn’t had time last night before we left the girls’ place. By that time it was going on noon. Daddy went off to Subway to get his lunch. In the mean time, I printed out eleven copies of the newsletter, acknowledging those who receive acknowledgments by mail. It was going on 1:00 before I had my lunch. After nap, I printed out the eleven envelopes for those eleven newsletters, stuffed them, sealed them, and stamped a few of them (we ran out of stamps, but will buy some tomorrow when we go shopping). Then I made the shopping list. Started washing dishes a little after 4:30 so I’d be ready for church in time. August 16. We left early this morning to do our shopping—a little after 8:00 – and were back in two hours after stops at Lidl, WalMart, Aldi, and Post Office. We were thankful to get done early before the day got too hot. Shortly after getting groceries put away, we started working on I Corinthians 12. Worked on that until noon, but didn’t finish it. This afternoon, I wrote some e-mails and also deleted several. This evening, I washed up the handful of dirty dishes that was at the sink and worked on translating a song until my brain got tired. “Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.” II Timothy 2:22
August 13. Slept in a few minutes later this morning. After my breakfast and quiet time, Daddy and I started right in checking I Corinthians 11. The first sixteen verses took a lot of extra thought, and we spent about an hour just on those. After that, we decided it was time for a stretch so went for a little walk down to the end of the lodge complex and looked around at Monty’s little thrift store. Then we came back and finished the second half of I Corinthians 11 in about half the time. We are thankful for the Lord’s help and direction in checking that chapter. I was also able, before lunch, to get corrections made, to get chapter 11 set up in the print file, and to get the English for chapter 12 set up. During my lunch hour and after nap, my time was given to writing our quarterly newsletter. Also transferred pictures to the computer from my camera and edited them so I could use a couple in the newsletter. Later in the afternoon, we took a little walk outside again to stretch our legs and get some fresh air. It was nice that it was somewhat cooler and less humid out today. Worked more on the newsletter after we came back in. Had supper and worked some more on the newsletter until my brain ran out of thoughts. Then I did the dishes, and later Daddy and I read Scripture and prayed together. “7For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 8Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God….” II Timothy 1:7,8 August 14. A little after 8:00 this morning, we loaded a few things into the car (computers, dirty laundry, some food for the day) and headed to the girls’ place. When we got there, I put a load of clothes in the washing machine and set it to run. Then I sat outside a while for prayer time. After the clothes had finished washing and had been hung out, Daddy and I went out to do a little shopping. Needed to find a few more household items. Was hoping to find a couple very small plastic shelves at the thrift store, but we didn’t find anything. We got the household items at Mighty Dollar and a plastic basket at Crossroads thrift store. Crossroads also had quite a bit of yarn today. It was around 12:30 when we got back to the girls’ house. Cooked a turkey burger for Daddy’s dinner before warming up some soup for my own. After I drank my soup, I proofread the newsletter one more time and then printed out a copy. I didn’t catch anything, but Daddy caught a mistake. Oops! Well, it is now corrected. It was after 2:15 before Daddy and I lay down for a nap. After nap, I finished perfecting the newsletter and made a PDF copy to send to Christy. Got journal notes ready to send to Connie and sent them off to her along with a few pictures. Then I found a few items that we need to take back to the apartment and washed out a basin and a bucket that will be going too. After eating supper, I washed the dishes, and then we had our family devotions. “19Remembering mine affliction and my misery, the wormwood and the gall. 20My soul hath them still in remembrance, and is humbled in me. 21This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope. 22It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. 23They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. 24The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him. 25The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. 26It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.” Lamentations 3:20-26 It was hard to choose a particular verse from this portion of Scripture. So much that spoke to my heart. In the first eighteen verses, Jeremiah details the afflictions that had weighed him down. But his conclusion is that, by recalling to remembrance his afflictions, his soul is humbled. God uses our afflictions to humble us. As we allow God to humble us, we have hope. We understand the LORD’s mercies, His compassions, His faithfulness, which never fail and are always new. Our hope is in the LORD, who is our portion (a part assigned, an allotment; a part, though not actually divided, but considered of itself). The LORD is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul that seeketh Him, to those who both hope and quietly wait for His salvation. Therefore we will continue to hope in the LORD, to wait for Him, and to seek Him with all our heart, knowing that His salvation will come. August 12. Up early for shower and breakfast and a start of quiet time before getting ready to go over to C&C’s house. Had plenty of time for more praying in between listening to meetings/sermons this morning. Daddy and the girls were late getting back, as was expected, since they took the long way home, into South Carolina to fill up Christy’s car with gas. So I had time to do some crocheting too. Pastor preached the first service on the topic of How Do We Respond When God Doesn’t Act Like We Think He Should Act? He gave examples from lives of various Bible characters who went through difficult testing. We must let God be God. Later he preached from I Peter 5:8,9, The Adversary. “You must be aware that the enemy wants to destroy you.” 1) Our alertness—be alert; be circumspect; be aware that someone is out there wanting to attack you. 2) Our adversary, the devil. 3) our action—resist, withstand; steadfastly, unmoveable in the faith; Revelation 12:9-11. 4) our associations—other people in the world are going through the same afflictions; we are not alone. After Daddy had his dinner, we came back to the apartment and had our nap. Afterward I painted for a couple hours. And it was good for Daddy and me to have some talk time and prayer time together. We’ve been so on the go, we haven’t had time to sit down and talk together. “8Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 9Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.” I Peter 5:8,9 O, Lord, please help us to always be sober and vigilant that we might resist the devil. August 10. Whew! I feel like I’m spinning around in circles. We’ve been going almost non-stop since early this morning. Washed hair and showered and dressed. Had morning drinks, quiet time, and breakfast. Put a load of clothes in the machine to wash. Transferred all the yogurt from the cooler to the outside fridge. Also transferred whatever food was left in the other cooler, and a few items from the house fridge which isn’t working properly. Started right in packing and loading up the car. I think it was around 10:30 before we had a carload and were ready to go pay for our apartment. Then from there to the lodge where we are renting an apartment. When the manager was done with the other customer, we paid for the apartment. Then we unloaded the van. It was just about noon when we got back to the girls’ house. Had our lunch and a nap. Then got busy doing more packing. A little after 2:30, we were loaded up and ready to go again. Stopped first at Hendrick’s to get a fridge for the girls. Had to wait quite a while as the workers were all busy. Finally got the fridge paid for and arrangements made for it to be delivered tomorrow afternoon. Then we went over to the apartment, our new home for a while. Got everything unloaded and put away and then came back to the girls’ house. I thought it must be about 5:00, supper time, but it wasn’t even 4:30 yet. I was hungry, though, so had a bowlful of yogurt, cherries, and pecan pieces. In the evening, we packed up the rest of what we needed, and Daddy got the folding table (that we had bought to send to PNG) and the two office chairs out of the shed and loaded them into the van because there was no table or chairs in the apartment. Christy gave Connie her birthday present that she had ordered for her and that came today in the mail—a nice study Bible with wide margins for writing notes. Then Christy did the dishes, and Daddy went outside to call Amos and talk with him. I was too tired to work at the computer so did a little crocheting. Then we read a chapter in Acts and prayed together. After that, Daddy and I loaded up all our fridge stuff in the cooler and headed to our “new” home. Once there, the cooler had to be unloaded and everything put into the fridge. We also set up the table and unpacked a few things until I got too tired. I was hot and sweaty and needed a shower and a good night’s sleep. August 11. When I went to take my shower last night, what did I discover but the grossest looking shower curtain liner a body has ever seen! I wondered when the last time was that the shower had been cleaned or the curtain replaced. Something would definitely have to be done about that. Today is Daddy’s 72nd birthday. I guess it wasn’t much of a birthday though. It was another day on the run. Right after breakfast and quiet time, and putting away a few things that I didn’t get to last night, we headed out to do our shopping that we weren’t able to do on Thursday. Uh, why won’t the car start? Not a sound when Daddy turned the key. Maybe we’ll have to call Christy and have her come so we can jump start the battery. Then Daddy thought of opening the hood and moving the cables around. Put key in ignition and, praise the Lord, it started right up. The battery is practically new so we couldn’t see why it would have gone bad already. But what was the cause of its temporary failure is unknown to us. We were finally off—to Lidl’s first. Not too busy so we got done rather quickly, but it was early. Then we spent quite a bit of time at WM as we had, besides food, a number of household things to buy—mold removing cleaner for the shower, disinfectant cleaner, dish soap, paper towels, paper napkins, shower curtain liner, vinyl gloves, peroxide, dish drainer, pots and pans, etc. WM WAS busy. Three or four checkout lanes open and all of them with long lines. Even though we had a buggy loaded full of goods, we decided to go for the self-checkout. We are glad we did. Daddy did the checking, and I did the bagging, and it didn’t take long at all. We were thankful for that. Last stop was Aldi. Then on toward home. By the time we got the food put away, it was going on 11:30. Started right in making soup—cream of celery and mushroom soup today, with bulgur wheat added. The pot in the set we bought was too small, but I remembered that our pressure cooker was in one of the suitcases. Perfect! By a little after 12:00 the soup was on cooking. While washing veggies for the soup, however, we discovered another problem—the kitchen sink was backed up. Now what will we do? Thankfully there was a plunger in the house so Daddy tried plunging it. He plunged and plunged but to no avail. He finally went out to Big Lots and Mighty Dollar and bought a box of baking soda and two 2-liter bottles of coke. When he came home with those, I spent quite a bit of time working on the sink, gradually pouring baking soda and coke down the sink until I had used up the whole box of baking soda and 3 litres of coke. But the liquid would only go down after a loooong wait. What’s the next step? Daddy decided to try the plunger again. He was about to quit when I encouraged him to keep trying a little bit longer. And suddenly, lo and behold, a plastic straw was drawn up out of the drain. After that, everything went down, and there was no more backup. Praise the Lord! Some time in between all those goings on, we managed to fit in lunch. I had been on my feet almost the entire morning so I was very happy to finally get settled down for a nap around 1:30. Was enjoying a restful sleep, only to be awakened by Daddy’s phone ringing. Hendrick’s delivery wanted Daddy to know that he would be late. Daddy then called Christy to let her know that their refrigerator delivery would be late. Rested a while longer, but couldn’t go back to sleep so finally got up. The work wasn’t done yet. After nap, the shower needed to be tackled. First, put on a pair of vinyl gloves and remove that super-gross shower curtain liner. Wad it all up, deposit it and then the gloves into the trash bag, tie up the bag, and send Daddy off to the dumpster with it. Next get out the mold removing spray and try to read the directions that are impossible to read without a magnifying glass. Have Daddy read the directions. Tie one of Daddy’s handkerchiefs on for a “face mask.” Put on another pair of vinyl gloves. Spray down the shower from top to bottom and from one end to the other. Remove vinyl gloves and face mask. Sit down for 10 minutes. Ready for step three. Put face mask and rubber gloves back on. Take rag (there happened to be one in Daddy’s suitcase) and start wiping down the walls. What a job! But what a difference! It could use a second time around, but definitely not today. There was still other work to do. The soup needed to be pureed and put into…. Oh, oh! No jars. Maybe I could put it into the jug I usually use for tea. Yes, that will work. There was a little bit of soup that didn’t fit into the jug so I quickly washed and dried the jar I had just emptied at lunch time and put the rest of the soup in it. One more job to do—wash dishes. As I was washing them, Daddy dried a few for me since there isn’t much room around the sink and the drainer only holds so many. So thankful to get that done and then sit down to relax a while. Is it really 5:05 already? Well, I’m going to sit down a while before getting my supper. Spent about an hour trying to get my journal caught up with the events of today and yesterday. Then we got ready to go to the girls’ house. The girls had some stories to tell, too, about their event-filled day; but we’ll leave those stories to them to tell. It was good to be with them for the evening and relax a bit. They gave Daddy a birthday gift—a multi-purpose pocket tool and a cap. Then we played a game together. Gathered up a few other things we need at the apartment and then prayed together before we left.
August 8. Right after breakfast this morning, Daddy and I went outside so I could cut his hair. The hair clippers weren’t going to cooperate, however. We had forgotten to charge up the battery after the last time we used the clippers. So we came back in and put the battery on to charge. In the mean time, I got a couple e-mails written. The clippers still weren’t fully charged after that, but I went ahead and finished cutting Daddy’s hair before it got too hot out. Then we put the clippers back on the charger until they were fully charged. A little before 10:00, Daddy and I started checking the rest of 1 Corinthians 9, and the Lord enabled us to check chapter 10 as well. Afterward I read a newsletter that had come on e-mail and also read an article for which Daddy had sent me a link. It was about the crackdown on religion in China. Just before noon, I started making chicken gravy to go with the chicken and taters I had fixed for Daddy yesterday. This afternoon, I got corrections made for the Scriptures we had worked on this morning and got everything set up in the print file. Also added the English for chapter 11 which, Lord willing, we can check tomorrow or Friday. The rest of the afternoon brought some concerns and extra business. In the morning, we had started hearing regular clicking sounds coming from the fridge. As the day wore on, the clicks got closer and closer together. Finally, out of curiosity, Connie checked up on the web and learned that either the relay and overload or the compressor had probably gone bad. Daddy called Mel about late afternoon as we realized that the freezer was thawing. Praise the Lord, Mel was in the area and came by and tried to fix it. We thought he had it fixed, but when we plugged it back in, it tripped the breaker. Daddy called Mel back and told him. Concluded that we need a new fridge. I put the ice packs in the big cooler, and loaded it up with frozen meat, fruits, and veggies. When the rain stopped, Daddy went out to buy bags of ice to use in the fridge, freezer, and small cooler. When he got back, I started filling up quart size bags with ice and putting them here and there in the fridge, freezer, and coolers. By then I was needing to sit down and rest a while before doing dishes. In the mean time, Christy and Connie went off to church. Daddy and I listened livestream. Pastor’s text this evening was Esther 3:15. Communication is one of the most important things you will ever do. You must get it right the first time. 1) Communication has consequences, 1:10-2:1ff. The whole story of Esther is built on communication. 2) Communication can be/is informative, 1:19. It was written down and told what was important to the men and what was expected of the women. Also chapter 10—all of Mordecai’s acts were written in a book. Wouldn’t you want to be informed of something that could save your life? 3) Communication needs to be in the language of the hearer, 1:22. 4) Communication must be delivered, 1:22; 3:13-15; 8:13,14. 5) Communication done in anger can bring consequences and regret, 1:12ff. 6) Communication can be life-saving, 2:21,22; Proverbs 18:21. 7) Communication can be destructive, 3:3-6 August 9. Connie’s birthday. No rest for the birthday girl, however. It has been quite a day. Lots of phone calls going back and forth trying to work out getting a “new” fridge. A co-worker of Bob C had an extra fridge he would be glad to get rid of. They just needed to plug it in for a while and see if it was working. The man was in meetings most of the day however, so we didn’t get any return calls. Daddy and I went out to Hendrick’s to check their scratch and dent fridges. They had some for a good price and also had some used fridges in the back for a good price. They looked nice too. We checked Sears Hometown store as well, but their fridges were much more except for a couple closeouts they had. While we were out, we made a stop again at an extended stay lodge. The manager said he was expecting someone to move out within an hour. He said because we kept coming back that he would put us on top of the list and suggested that we come back between 2:00 and 3:00 in the afternoon. On the way back to the girls’ house, we stopped at Dollar Tree to get some greeting cards. In the mean time, Mel had come and brought a small, old, dirty, moldy fridge. He parked the fridge on the carport and hosed it down. It needs a good scrubbing, and it may do as a second fridge to be parked permanently on the carport. We had lunch and a short nap. Christy came home from work early. And next thing we knew, Mel was driving in and brought the fridge from Bob C’s friend Bro. H. Lewis and I had to head back to the lodge, however, so left Mel and Kole to install the fridge. The girls were here, of course. Monty, the manager of the lodge gave us a key to look at the apartment. It is just a one-room studio apartment, but is nice and clean, has full-size fridge, a stove, microwave, double sink, cupboard and drawer space, closet, toilet and shower, bed with bedding. Is cooled by a window unit. Has plenty of room to put a table and a couple chairs so we can work. Will need to get some dishes, pots and pans, etc. When we got back to the girls’ place, Mel was still working. He was soon done, however, and we are very grateful for his giving so much of his time and work to help us. “21And the hand of the Lord was with them: and a great number believed, and turned unto the Lord…. 24For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord…. 26And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.” Acts 11:21,24,26 Oh, that we would see many people turning to the Lord today and then being discipled so that they might reach even more people!
August 6. It was a hot and steamy day. The morning zoomed by. Wash and dress. Have morning drinks; cook sunny-side-up eggs to go with Daddy’s breakfast; have quiet time; eat breakfast; make smoothie and iced coffee; get out lunch cooler to put smoothie and coffee in, also water, applesauce, and a Larabar (ice pack too, of course); print out pattern for baby sweater so I could do crocheting on the road; gather up yarn and crocheting stuff; put ice packs in big coolers; load up car; jump in and head for Charlotte around 9:00. First stop, TJ’s. Do shopping and then hurry off to Dr. Schulman’s office. Daddy dropped Connie and me off there and went over to WM Marketplace to get a few items. Didn’t take long at Dr. Schulman’s. Then Connie and I walked over to WM and met Daddy there. By 11:20, we were on our way home, arriving about an hour later. Now for the fun of putting all the food away. Of course, I get the job of loading up the fridge. I’m the “miracle worker” (so C&C think) who can always find space for one more thing in the fridge. 😊 I actually found room in the fridge for all the yogurt with room to spare. Imagine that! Packed the freezer full. In the mean time Connie put most of the cupboard items away. Now totally exhausted, I drank a glassful of water before sitting down with a cupful of soup. As soon as I finished that, I brushed my teeth and headed straight for nap. Went right to sleep and enjoyed a nice solid hour’s rest. This afternoon and part of the evening, I worked on the presentation again and finally completed the job of searching for images and getting the presentation ready to go. I’m thankful to have that done. August 7. Didn’t have much leftovers for breakfast so had my smoothie first. That was after putting a load of sheets and towels in to wash. While things were washing, I sat outside for prayer time and also did a little walking. Afterward I had a bowlful of veggies to eat. Then Daddy and I hung out the clothes. Before we sat down to work on translation checking, I put a small steak on to cook. Praise the Lord for His help checking chapter 8 and part of chapter 9 of I Corinthians. When we finished that, Daddy went off to exchange a box of cereal at WalMart, pay the Verizon bill, and pick up a couple supplements at GNC. I started making his dinner. Seasoned the chicken and popped it into the oven. Peeled and diced up potatoes. Covered them with water and set them aside. Back to the computer to make corrections in the Scriptures we had just checked. Then started cooking the potatoes. While I was waiting for them to boil so I could turn down the burner before sitting down, I heated up a cupful of soup for my own lunch. As soon as I turned the burner down, I went back to the computer to set up 1 Corinthians 8 in the print file. I knew Daddy would be home shortly when receipts for Verizon and GNC came through in the e-mail. Chicken was done so I turned off the oven and left the chicken in to keep warm. Taters were done too, so I got busy whipping them up. Was just finishing when Daddy returned. After nap, I got the progress report written.. This evening, I worked on the crochet project. “To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.” Acts 10:43 ALL the prophets gave witness that salvation is by faith in the Son of God. And it is for “whosoever,” anyone and everyone who believes. August 5. Didn’t get a chance to sit outside this morning. The first thing I did after showering and getting dressed was to put a pot of peas and carrots on the stove to cook. Then I sat down to start quiet time while they were cooking. When the veggies were done, I warmed up some haddock and amaranth and then added some veggies and sauce for an enjoyable breakfast. Finished quiet time while I was eating. Then I made a smoothie and put it in a bottle to take with me to church. Used Christy’s lunch bag, which has a place at the bottom for an ice pack, to carry the smoothie in, as well as a bottle of water. Also packed a Larabar in my bilum which already had almonds in it, as well as my Bible and a couple other items. By then it was around 8:30 so started up the computer and got ready to listen to the first part of the first morning service. Around 9:20, we left for church, arriving in plenty of time before Sunday school was to start. Enjoyed the ladies’ class that is being taught by Sara W. She is teaching on spiritual warfare, and today’s topic was the breastplate of righteousness. She gave lots of good spiritual applications. We came home by way of South Carolina where Daddy filled up the car with gas and his mug with coffee. By the time we got home, my head was aching and I was ready to sleep. But first I needed a bit more to eat. A large, warm cupful of soup was just the thing. Went right to nap after that and slept not quite an hour and a half. After nap, I spent time painting. This evening, after I got the dishes done, we listened to the early morning preaching service which was preached by John Bower on Nehemiah’s work as builder and governor. It was a good message. I also crocheted and finally finished the baby blanket I have been working on for about a month. August 3. Woke up all stuffed up in the wee hours of the morning. Couldn’t get back to sleep so finally got up and took some clear lungs. Was able to relax and get back to sleep shortly afterward. Started out the day with morning drinks and started quiet time. More quiet time while the rest of the haddock and some amaranth was cooking for my breakfast. After eating, I put a load of clothes in the washing machine and set a few buttons to start things rolling. Then I went outside to continue prayer time and get some walking exercise. When I came back in, I made a small smoothie to drink. Then turned on the computer, opened up files, and wrote one e-mail. By then it was time to work on translation—chapter 7 today. We knew we would need plenty of wisdom for this chapter, and the Lord gave liberally as He has promised. When we finished checking 1 Corinthians 7, Daddy suddenly remembered the laundry. Was it still in the washing machine? Oops! Probably good and wrinkled by now. Had better take care of that next. Threw part of the items into the dryer and got it going. Then hung the rest on hangers in the bedroom and bathroom. The weather outside looked too threatening. After that, I made corrections for 1 Corinthians 7. Then had lunch. Then transferred chapter 7 to the print file. Then had nap. The rest of the afternoon, I worked on the outreach lessons for MTP. This evening, I did some crocheting and some research on the web. “30And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest? 31And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.” Acts 8:30,31 It is important to get the written word of God into the hands of everyone in the world, but how will they understand without a man to guide them? How shall they hear, how shall they understand, without a preacher? And how shall they preach except they be sent? (See Romans 10:14,15) How important it is for churches to send out laborers! August 4. A misty morning. Was still able to sit outside and pray and then do some walking before the mist got too heavy. Christy washed and hung out clothes, but the light rain didn’t affect them much, and it wasn’t long before the mist fled away. Later in the day, the Lord sent us sunshine. When I came back in from my walk, I wrote a few e-mails. The girls went off to Sandy’s, and Daddy and I enjoyed the quiet for a while. The rest of the morning I did painting. A little before noon, Daddy went off to Subway and I was still painting. When Daddy got back, I was still painting. I had gotten so engrossed in what I was doing, I didn’t even realize it was going on 1:00 and that I was hungry. I hurriedly cleaned up my mess and then fixed myself some lunch. After nap, I searched for pictures for the presentation for a little while. Then our family went off to White Oak Manor to visit James. He actually seems to be slowly making more improvement. Today we noticed that he had more control over the movement of his arms. We didn’t stay long. After talking with him briefly, Daddy read Psalm 19 to him. We ladies sang “I’d Rather Have Jesus,” and then Daddy prayed. After we got home, I searched for pictures a bit more before having supper. Then I did more painting until everyone was ready to play a game. Connie picked Boggle tonight. |
