May 20. Got up around 4:45 this morning to take some cranberry and some white willow for my back. Was able to relax better after that. The night was nearly gone, however, and a little over an hour later, I was up to take a shower and wash my hair. Dr. Tom Wallace was at EBC today; and in the early meeting, he shared with the church his burden for the Muslims, and particularly for some Syrian refugees who are to be settled in the Charlotte area. He told of ways that we could help reach them with the Gospel if opportunity were afforded us (that is, through ESL, helping them prepare for GED, and I forget what the third things is). Through those things, we can also teach the Bible. He also told of a successful way to share the good news with them. In between meetings, I was able to have more prayer time and also put a third coat of paint on the back of the white bookshelf. In the second meeting, Pastor Ogle preached from I Peter 3:18-22, The Deliverance in Christ.” The real goal of this text is to tell us that we can be triumphant even in difficult days because Christ. has defeated the enemy. “You must realize that no matter what you go through and how dark it looks now, Jesus is victorious and so are you.” Daddy and the girls were late getting home. They went to South Carolina to get gas, and the pump gave Daddy some trouble which slowed him down. Consequently, it was 2:30 before we got to nap. After nap, I finished crocheting my loofah. Had to borrow a bit of leftover yarn from Connie to finish it up, so it is finished with a different color and not so soft a yarn. But it’s just for myself to use so it doesn’t matter. Fixed lamb patties for supper and delighted in a lamb patty sandwich. This evening, we listened to an excellent sermon by Pastor Weiss entitled “Boldness to Enter,” based on Hebrews 4:16, Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. “O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee….” Psalm 63:1a How I look forward to seeking God early in the morning! And how I need that time alone with Him!

May 18. It was so refreshing to see some sunshine today amidst all the rain. We thank the Lord for both. We had quite a busy morning, and afternoon nap was especially welcome. Up early for shower. Together we had last minute things to pack to take to C&C’s house, and some things to put away in the back room. Strip beds. Wash bedding and towels. Also our own clothes. Have breakfast and quiet time. Put all but a few hang-up clothes in dryer. Hang them in closet in back room. Fold dried sheets and pillow cases and set them on beds. Wash dishes. Wash floor in small bathroom and wash kitchen floor. Pack belongings into car. Get food out of freezer and fridge and pack in bags to take with us. Take time to slow down. Arrived at girls’ house some time after 9:30. Daddy sealed the letters that needed to be mailed and took them out to the mailbox. I got the food put away. When Daddy was coming back in, I noticed some plastic leaves and flowers on the floor of the carport. Some animal, very likely a cat, had apparently jumped up onto the planter (from which the plastic flowers were hanging down) where the wren nest was and stolen the eggs. Poor mama and papa wren. I got the computer set up and looked at e-mails. Set last week’s journal notes up in their special file and edited them to send to Connie. Then started fixing spaghetti for Daddy’s dinner. I was excited to discover that the ground meat we had bought marked down was ground bison and not ground beef. The mark down label was on top of the words and we had just assumed it was beef. Was surprised to see Christy come driving in about 12:15. She was able to get off work early today. Not long after nap, it was time for the funeral for Bro. Johnston. The stories and testimonies were very touching as apparently his life was. Thousands of people have been touched by his love and kindness to all people, his love for the Lord, and his burden for the lost. In the evening, I crocheted a little scrunchie for Connie before we got ready for bed. “5Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. 6Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert.” Isaiah 35:5,6 When the Savior came, He opened the eyes of the blind, He unstopped the ears of the deaf, He made the lame to leap, and He made the dumb to speak. What power is in His word to change lives! And then He satisfies our needs in the lonely places and in the dry places. What a wonderful Savior! May 19. Sat outside to pray for a while this morning. It is hard to concentrate in the house with three other people around. Watched part of the royal wedding—Prince Harry and Meghan . When Christy was done doing laundry, we went out to visit Ruth. She was glad for us to come visit. She doesn’t get any visitors other than her daughter. We stayed a little longer than we had planned, because we knew that she was lonely and wanted to talk. Before we left, she did allow me to read Psalm 103 to her. We had hoped to go visit James too, but it was going on 12:00 by the time we left Ruth’s, and we figured they’d probably be serving lunch at the manor (actually a nursing home). We stopped and bought a few items at Dollar Tree before getting home. Had a late lunch and nap. This afternoon and evening, I tried my hand at painting a sunset scene with a sailboat on a lake (or maybe the ocean). I painted it from a photo I had found on the web and had put on my desktop. May 16. I thank the Lord for helping me last night to finish the doily that I was making for Jane. Thrift store shopping was planned for today. We thought about going straight from the prophet’s chamber, but wondered if Connie might like to go. She did so we went over there first. As soon as she was ready, we headed for Crossroads. We had a few items to donate and wanted to look for a couple picture frames. We couldn’t find the right size frames, but we did find a nice covered casserole dish, some glass items, a pretty ocean picture for Christy’s bathroom for a quarter, a few other little things. After that, we went to the Hospice thrift store. Looked around for quite a while but didn’t buy anything. Back at the house, we got things unpacked from their bags. Put all the glass things at the sink to be washed. Then I started fixing dinner. Praise the Lord for His help with checking Acts chapter 4 this afternoon and starting to get 3 and 4 set up in the print file. Also got shopping list made. Quite a few dishes to do this evening (a good portion of those were things that we had bought today). Also printed out a few copies of the newsletter so I can get those ready tomorrow to mail to our supporters. I finished getting Acts 3 and 4 set up in the print file. Pastor’s preaching began with Esther 7:10, and the title of the message was “Sowing and Reaping.” We are always sowing seed, every day, although we don’t always think about it or about its consequences. You don’t always understand that you are sowing or what the harvest will be. 1) Esther’s submissiveness to authority one day enabled her to help save her people. Can you be submissive to authority even when you can’t see what will happen later? 2) Mordecai was not self-promoting. Do right whether you are recognized or not. Plant seeds whether anyone knows or not. 3) Haman was self-serving in his attitude. Self-serving leads to hatred of others and causes sorrow. It leads to boasting, but eventually to humiliation and destruction. “And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.” Isaiah 32:17 Yes, a King shall reign in righteousness (verse 1), and that righteousness will result in peace and quietness and assurance forever. I’m so thankful for the peace and quietness and assurance that is mine through the work of Christ the King.
May 17. The Lord gave us quite a bit of rain yesterday and last night and early this morning. Praise the Lord for the refreshing rain. This morning after breakfast and quiet time, I went to work getting more of our things together in the back room so we can move over to the girls’ house for the weekend. Daddy went off to get a few groceries while I was busy here, and some stamps for mailing the newsletters. For sit down time, I translated more culture notes for the Missionary Training Course; and before lunch, I cleaned both bathrooms, and Daddy swept the kitchen floor. After nap, I translated another section of the MTC (missionary training course) notes; Daddy washed the dishes, I vacuumed, and then Daddy and I checked Acts chapter 5. So thankful for the Lord’s help and strength today. It was so pleasant outside after supper. The rain had cooled things down, the humidity seemed lower, and there was a nice breeze. So Daddy and I went for a nice walk around the property. Then I made corrections in Acts 5 and got it set up in the print file. Also got the English text for chapter 6 ready to set up with the Pidgin after we check it. Got notes of acknowledgment on all the newsletters going out by mail to supporters, and got addresses written on envelopes. Daddy stamped the envelopes and put return address labels on them, and I folded the letters and stuffed the envelopes. “14The sinners in Zion are afraid; fearfulness hath surprised the hypocrites. Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings? 15He that walketh righteously, and speaketh uprightly; he that despiseth the gain of oppressions, that shaketh his hands from holding of bribes, that stoppeth his ears from hearing of blood, and shutteth his eyes from seeing evil; 16He shall dwell on high: his place of defence shall be the munitions of rocks: bread shall be given him; his waters shall be sure. 17Thine eyes shall see the king in his beauty: they shall behold the land that is very far off.” Isaiah 33:14-17 God shows us the way to survive in times of fear and trouble. We must walk in righteousness and speak uprightly. We must hate all that is evil and turn away from it. Then we can be sure that the Lord will defend us and feed us. Our eyes will see the king and the land that is far off, the land where there is no evil, no fear, no trouble, only righteousness and joy and light for all eternity. Amen!
May 14. It was a somewhat busy day. We didn’t go to the girls’ house today. After showering and washing hair and having quiet time and breakfast, the first order of business was to make soup. Butternut squash soup today—one whole butternut squash with half dozen carrots, a couple stalks of celery, one onion, one large apple, and some kidney beans. Add seasonings. Turn on the crockpot and let it cook. After a short relax break, I went to the computer. What shall I do today? Need to get busy translating more of the missionary training course lessons. Worked on the culture course while Daddy went off to see Dr. Cook and go to the post office. After he came back, we checked Acts 3. Soon it would be lunch time. Oh, dear. What was Daddy going to have for lunch? Our spaghetti and sauce are at C&C’s house. We have meat here, but nothing to fix to go with it. How about Subway today? That will have to do. So before noon, Daddy went out again, got his lunch at Subway, and picked up a couple things at WalMart. I finished organizing all the rest of my card making stuff, got the dining room table wiped off, and put the placemats and napkins back on as it was before. Praise the Lord that that job is done and the boxes are put away in the back room. After nap, I happened to think, I really need to finish up the quarterly newsletter. Spent the next couple hours completing that project. By then my soup was done and cooled enough to puree. It was supper time, too, so as soon as the soup was all pureed, I enjoyed a delectable cupful. After supper, I made a greeting card for a special friend’s spiritual birthday. I also repacked one of my suitcases which will carry extra belongings, such as blanket, sheet set, towels, fry pan, external keyboard, etc. I was thankful for Daddy’s help in washing dishes again this evening. Also for the Lord’s help in doing more work on the training course lessons. I was glad to get most of my belongings moved out of the bedroom where I’m sleeping and into the room where we’ll store them this weekend when we won’t be staying here. Morning Star has a guest speaker coming. “And Joshua said unto all the people, Behold, this stone shall be a witness unto us; for it hath heard all the words of the LORD which he spake unto us: it shall be therefore a witness unto you, lest ye deny your God.” Joshua 24:27 All of creation hears God speak. Do we? “Give ear, O ye heavens, and I will speak; and hear, O earth, the words of my mouth.” Deuteronomy 32:1 May 15. It took a while to get everything ready to go to C&C’s house this morning. Finally left the house a little before 9:00 with hopes of getting a lot done this morning, including printing out enough newsletters for mailing to supporters, and doing more work on translation. The printer, however, needed attention which took most of the rest of the morning. Printed out a trial copy of our newsletter. Yipes, stripes! Looks like printer is out of ink. I wonder why the warning page with ink levels hasn’t been coming up on my computer. Go look in the ink wells. Sure enough, all but empty. Fill ink wells. Try again. Still has stripes. Now what? Do troubleshooting. Printer needs head alignment and nozzle cleaning. Besides the printer problems, some of the pictures printed too dark. Lightened up pictures and replaced the ones on the page with the edited ones. Tried printing another newsletter. One good copy done. Praise the Lord for His help. Lunch time now. This afternoon, I worked quite a bit on the lessons for the missionary training program and wrote a letter to Pastor W. This evening, I did dishes and put a second coat of paint on the back of the white bookshelf. “1Behold, a king shall reign in righteousness, and princes shall rule in judgment. 2And a man shall be as an hiding place from the wind, and a covert from the tempest; as rivers of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a weary land. 3And the eyes of them that see shall not be dim, and the ears of them that hear shall hearken. 4The heart also of the rash shall understand knowledge, and the tongue of the stammerers shall be ready to speak plainly.” Isaiah 32:1-4 King Jesus, the God-man, came to reign in righteousness. He is a hiding place and covert from the storms; He is as rivers of water in a dry place and the shadow of a great rock in a weary land. The eyes of those who see Him shall see clearly. The ears of those who hear His voice will obey. Those who were rash will understand knowledge, and those who couldn’t speak well will be able to speak plainly. What a refuge we have in our Savior! And what a help for our infirmities!
May 13. Left for C&C’s house a little after 8:15 this morning. Had a few minutes to chat and to get a couple greeting cards ready to be taken to church. The early service started at 8:45. Pastor Ogle’s preaching was taken from several passages which talked about Jezebel and her family and the ungodly influence that prevailed within that family. In thinking of mother’s day, he mentioned a number of areas from Jezebel’s life that we need to avoid in our lives as mothers lest we have an influence for evil in the lives of our children. In the later service, Pastor continued his preaching from I Peter 3, verses 13-15, entitled The Reason of the Hope. “You must be ready to answer whether in good circumstances or bad.” “Your persecution, though real, will be short-lived in comparison to eternity. Can you rejoice that they can’t take that away from you?” Daddy and the girls were late getting home as they had stopped at Neighborhood WM in KM to get water. After they ate, the girls gave me my other Mother’s Day present—a book on landscape painting. They had already downloaded one set of books for me so I have that one on my computer. Before Daddy and I left, we all had our other piece of the lime pie that I had made for Christy’s birthday. It was already going on 3:00 before we got settled down for nap. After I got up, I peeled and cut up the squash and put that in the fridge to use in my soup tomorrow. Got my computer set up and wrote a bit in my journal. Daddy did the dishes, and I spent quite a bit of time weeding out and organizing the card-making stuff so I can get all that put away. After supper, I crocheted a while. “And, behold, this day I am going the way of all the earth: and ye know in all your hearts and in all your souls, that not one thing hath failed of all the good things which the LORD your God spake concerning you; all are come to pass unto you, and not one thing hath failed thereof.” Joshua 23:14 Praise God, He has never failed, and He never will! May 11. Another birthday for Christy. Thank you, Lord, for our special daughter. Woke up this morning to a lovely pink and blue sky. Praise the Lord for strength for a busy morning. Two loads of wash to do again. Sheets and towels in the first load, so those went into the dryer. Then I could get the bed made before we left the house. Packed up a bunch of stuff to take to C&C’s. Went back into the house a couple times before we took off—Daddy to get his coffee and I to get my outdoor shoes so I could help hang out the clothes today since Daddy had to hurry to get to Dr. Cook’s by 10:00. I knew grass would be wet after the rain last night and also didn’t want to track mown grass into the house since Bro. Joe would be there to mow. Finally headed out of the driveway at 9:01. Bro. Joe wasn’t there yet when we arrived, and we didn’t want to hang clothes until he mowed the back yard. Took things inside that we had brought with us. Said good morning to Connie. Got the fridge food put away. It was about 8:40 or so when Joe arrived. Daddy talked with him a few minutes and then headed out to see the doc. I made myself a smoothie before going out to hang the clothes. After I came back in, I sent out an e-mail to our prayer warriors asking them to pray for Bro. Gray’s trip into Moresby on Monday. Then I made a key lime pie (without the "key") for Christy’s birthday dessert. And last of all, I got the April progress report written for Pastor Ogle. Sent that off after nap. Christy was already home when I got up from nap. She had actually been here for an hour already, having arrived right after we lay down. In the evening, we discussed plans for the ladies’ luncheon and the open house. “44And the LORD gave them rest round about, according to all that he sware unto their fathers: and there stood not a man of all their enemies before them; the LORD delivered all their enemies into their hand. 45There failed not ought of any good thing which the LORD had spoken unto the house of Israel; all came to pass.” Joshua 21:44,45 How faithful our God is! He always keeps all His promises. Who else is worthy of our honor and obedience? May 12. It was a little before 9:00 when we left the house this morning. Had some errands to run before getting to the girls’ place -- off to WM first to get yogurt and water. Also picked out a skein of yarn to so I can start making a doily for Jane, and some sewing machine needles for Connie. From there, we cut across Main St. and Country Club Rd. to Marion and went to Dollar Tree. Picked out some patriotic flowers for the two vases that are on the front porch, and a paint brush to paint the back of the white bookshelf. Last stop was Family Dollar to look for picture hanging hardware. Found that, and also found a set of paintbrushes for a good price so bought that too. Off to the girls’ house at last. It was already after 10:30 when we got here. Christy had already started sorting stuff in her bedroom. I arranged the flowers in the vases before going to help Christy. Worked the rest of the morning and a couple hours in the afternoon on her room. We were thankful to get quite a bit done in there today. This evening, I found recipes for butternut squash soup, homemade sausage, biscuits, and lime pudding. “But take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law, which Moses the servant of the LORD charged you, to love the LORD your God, and to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and to cleave unto him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.” Joshua 22:5
May 9. We were ready a little earlier this morning so headed on over to the girls’ place before 8:30. Did a little crocheting while I finished my prayer time first while it was quiet. Then Daddy and I finished checking Acts 1 and got a good start on chapter 2. Praise the Lord! Took a break and went for a short walk. Then it was time to fix dinner—rice with a ground beef gravy; leftover veggies. This afternoon, Daddy helped me put Christy’s bird decoration up above the kitchen sink (he did most of the work because it was too high for me to reach) and he changed the air filter. I took the filter cover outside and brushed off all the dust and cobwebs. After that, I added the last couple rows to the afghan (praise the Lord). Then Daddy and I got the shopping list made for tomorrow. Pastor Ogle’s preaching this evening was on the topic of courage. His message was based on Esther 4:13-16, 13Then Mordecai commanded to answer Esther, Think not with thyself that thou shalt escape in the king's house, more than all the Jews. 14For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father's house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this? 15Then Esther bade them return Mordecai this answer, 16Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish.” “Courage is not the absence of fear, but action in the face of fear.” He built on his sermon by giving a number of qualities of courage. “3Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. 4Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength.” Isaiah 26:3,4 May 10. Shopping day. Woke up around 6:00. Had breakfast and Bible reading and part of prayer time. Took prayerbook along when we left for shopping around 8:15. We didn’t really have a lot of things to get, but had a lot of places to go—first to Lidl, then WM, and thirdly Aldi. After that, we had to make stops at the bank, post office, and Verizon. While Daddy went in to do business at those places, I had plenty of time for prayer. Arrived back at the house a little after 11:00. Put away groceries and turned on computer to find recipe for key lime pie and pattern for doily. Then we had lunch. This afternoon, we finished checking the second chapter of Acts. Then I made corrections in chapters one and two and set those two chapters up in the print file side by side with the English. All that took the rest of the afternoon and part of the evening. Setting it up in the print file actually takes longer than checking it. We thank the Lord for His help with all of this. This evening, Daddy did the dishes, and I fixed the border on the shawl for Beth. “10The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding. 11For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased.” Proverbs 9:10,11 A special promise from the LORD, written in Christy’s card for her birthday tomorrow.
May 7. It was 6:22 before I woke up this morning. Showered and washed hair. Had quiet time. Ate a bowl of fruit and yogurt for breakfast while amaranth was cooking to eat later in the morning with veggies. It was after 8:30 when we headed to the girls’ house. We took a number of items out to the shed this morning to get them out of the house. Did a lot of sorting and packing in Connie’s room today, and it is looking much better. Daddy put up screws/nails for several items that we hung on the wall, and he also attached the mirror to Connie’s dresser. “7In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. 8Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.” Psalm 62:7,8 Praise God for all that He is. He is my salvation, my glory, the rock of my strength, my refuge, He is completely trustworthy, and we can trust in Him at ALL times. We can pour out our hearts before Him and He will always hear and meet our need. May 8. It took me a while to get awake after Daddy came to get me up this morning. I’ve really been sleeping hard the past few mornings. After shower, quiet time, breakfast, washing a load of clothes, and gathering things together to take with us to C&C’s, we headed over. When we went outside, it looked like it had rained a bit during the night. But as we got closer to the other side of Shelby, it looked like they had had a storm. Fields of grass had been beaten down. Connie said the rain had really come down hard here, although there were no severe storm threats or warnings. I had planned to help Daddy hang out the clothes this morning, but didn’t have the right kind of shoes for going out back in the wet grass. So I put a few things away, got my computer turned on, read a chapter in Joshua, and added a Bible thought to yesterday’s journal notes. When Daddy came in, we spent about an hour checking fourteen verses of Acts chapter 1. The first half hour we struggled over verses one and two until we finally arrived at something that was accurate and that made sense. By then it was nearly lunch time. Oops! I hadn’t remembered to bring something to make a meal for Daddy. Oh, well. He can share my cabbage soup. This afternoon, Daddy put in screws to hang a couple more pictures over Connie’s craft desk. Then I got last week’s journal notes ready to send to Connie. I tried to import pictures to send with the notes, but the computer wouldn’t import any pictures. Finally Connie figured out that there were no pictures in my cameras. I guess I already transferred them some time or other. After getting an e-mail ready with pictures and the journal notes to go to Connie, and then getting that sent, I had a snack and then made a batch of Annie’s brownies. “1O LORD, thou art my God; I will exalt thee, I will praise thy name; for thou hast done wonderful things; thy counsels of old are faithfulness and truth…. 4For thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall…. 8He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it. 9And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the LORD; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.” Isaiah 25:1,4,8,9 Comforting verses in the midst of all the chapters in Isaiah on judgment.
May 6. Daddy woke me up out of a sound sleep this morning. Time to start the day. Had to fix eggs for Daddy to eat with his pancakes; then fix my breakfast; then get things together to take to C&C’s house. Jon Speights preached in the early service. He presented some very interesting and practical teaching from Ecclesiastes 11:1-6. His main point was that we are to do good to those upon whom our good deeds seem wasted (cast upon the waters). We are not to expect that we will receive something in return. But we don’t know how God will use what we “throw away” to help someone who had a great need and can’t repay. Jon and his family plan to leave Tuesday and return to their ministry in Brazil. In the later morning meeting, Pastor Ogle preached a challenging message from I Peter 3:10-12 entitled “What Are We Wanting In Life?” The principle was that “what we stop doing and start doing will have an impact on our lives.” We must stop using our tongue for evil—a big one to work on. What are you doing to get rid of your venomous mouth? We must separate from evil—eschew it. We must seek peace. How do God’s eyes being on you comfort you? or convict you? We were late getting back to the house, and it was 3:00 before I lay down for nap. Slept a good while, waking up around 4:30. Was thankful for a little extra sleep. This evening, Daddy and I went to Morning Star again. Since it was such a nice evening, we walked over and back. As part of his sermon from Luke 14, Pastor Linzy asked each person present to give a testimony of when and where they were saved. What a blessing it was to hear all the testimonies! The pastor’s text was Luke 14:16-24, with emphasis on the clause “compel them to come in” in verse 23. It was a very challenging message as well. We also enjoyed some time of fellowship after the meeting. I talked at length with Katie H; Daddy talked with Pastor Linzy; and we all talked with pastor and his wife, Kim, too. “And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.” Luke 14:23 This phrase “compel them to come in” challenged and burdened my heart this evening.
May 4. Two loads of laundry to do again this morning. Headed for the girls’ house as soon as that was done. After we got there, Daddy hung out the clothes. My next job was to finish making corrections in the file of Proverbs lessons. Am thankful that is done. Then I printed out a copy of Pidgin Acts so Daddy and I can start the final checking. Then it was time for a stand-up break so went and did some moving of boxes and putting away of a few things in Connie’s bedroom. This afternoon, I hung up a bunch of Connie’s keychains on the loom knitters that are hanging on the wall over her desk. Then I wrote three e-mails. In the evening, we watched and listened to the graduation program at ABC, and I also crocheted and did the dishes. “For thou, O God, hast heard my vows: thou hast given me the heritage of those that fear thy name.” Psalm 61:5 How thankful I am that God hears my prayers and my vows, and how thankful I am for the heritage He gives to those who fear His name! May 5. Before going to C&C’s house this morning, I got all the veggies cut up for my soup. Arrived at their house a little before 9:00, got out the crockpot, put all the ingredients together, added herbs and spices, and turned on the crockpot. The rest of the morning was spent helping Christy get her room organized. Did a little more work on her bedroom after nap. Also took down the dark shower curtain that was in Christy’s bathroom and hung up her fish shower curtain. Daddy put up some screws to hang a couple items in Christy’s bedroom and a shadow box picture in her bathroom. We’re thankful to have gotten quite a bit done today. After relaxing a while at the computer, I added cream to the soup, pureed it, and poured it into bottles. Enjoyed a cup and a half of it for my supper. “25Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began, 26now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith: 27To God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ for ever. Amen.” Romans 16:25-27 It is the gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ that stablishes us (that sets us fast, that turns us resolutely in a certain direction, that confirms us, that steadfastly sets us, that strengthens us). How important it is then for us to hear, read, understand, and meditate on the gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ so that we can be steadfast in our Christian life! And not only us. These Scriptures which show us the gospel and which preach Jesus Christ are to be made manifest to ALL nations so they too can be obedient to the faith and be steadfast, having been turned in the right direction. Thank you, Lord, for your wonderful gospel and for our wonderful Saviour. |
