May 9. We were ready a little earlier this morning so headed on over to the girls’ place before 8:30. Did a little crocheting while I finished my prayer time first while it was quiet. Then Daddy and I finished checking Acts 1 and got a good start on chapter 2. Praise the Lord! Took a break and went for a short walk. Then it was time to fix dinner—rice with a ground beef gravy; leftover veggies. This afternoon, Daddy helped me put Christy’s bird decoration up above the kitchen sink (he did most of the work because it was too high for me to reach) and he changed the air filter. I took the filter cover outside and brushed off all the dust and cobwebs. After that, I added the last couple rows to the afghan (praise the Lord). Then Daddy and I got the shopping list made for tomorrow. Pastor Ogle’s preaching this evening was on the topic of courage. His message was based on Esther 4:13-16, 13Then Mordecai commanded to answer Esther, Think not with thyself that thou shalt escape in the king's house, more than all the Jews. 14For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father's house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this? 15Then Esther bade them return Mordecai this answer, 16Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish.” “Courage is not the absence of fear, but action in the face of fear.” He built on his sermon by giving a number of qualities of courage. “3Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. 4Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength.” Isaiah 26:3,4 May 10. Shopping day. Woke up around 6:00. Had breakfast and Bible reading and part of prayer time. Took prayerbook along when we left for shopping around 8:15. We didn’t really have a lot of things to get, but had a lot of places to go—first to Lidl, then WM, and thirdly Aldi. After that, we had to make stops at the bank, post office, and Verizon. While Daddy went in to do business at those places, I had plenty of time for prayer. Arrived back at the house a little after 11:00. Put away groceries and turned on computer to find recipe for key lime pie and pattern for doily. Then we had lunch. This afternoon, we finished checking the second chapter of Acts. Then I made corrections in chapters one and two and set those two chapters up in the print file side by side with the English. All that took the rest of the afternoon and part of the evening. Setting it up in the print file actually takes longer than checking it. We thank the Lord for His help with all of this. This evening, Daddy did the dishes, and I fixed the border on the shawl for Beth. “10The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding. 11For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased.” Proverbs 9:10,11 A special promise from the LORD, written in Christy’s card for her birthday tomorrow.
