March 19. Dreary and foggy early in the morning, but the Lord sent us wind and warm sunshine later to dry the clothes, warm our bodies, and give us vitamin D. No rain until this evening. Finished up a half hexagon after breakfast. Did a little Bible study. Then proofread the next Revelation lesson to get it ready for printing. Printed teacher’s copy this evening. Continued work on the Ready lessons off and on throughout the day and finished getting words highlighted and italicized. Now I’ll transfer a copy to Daddy’s computer so he can look over the lessons and see what changes or additions might need to be made. March 20. Foggy this morning with a huge front running all across the northern sky. However, it wasn’t long before the clouds had faded away and the sun shone brightly. Before nap was over, the thunder began to roar and roll, and the air cooled down considerably. The Lord has been giving us rain this evening. Woke up in the middle of the night with wind blowing in my face and my throat hurting so have been trying to fight sore throat and earaches today. Daddy is still battling a bad cold and has been running a fever. This morning, I made another afghan hexagon so have just one to go. Then there will be dozens of ends to tuck in. Also put blanks for the answers to the questions in the next Revelation lesson and then made some banana muffins. This afternoon, I made up another Bible story card for giving out to people who come to the door. This evening, I printed out copies of the card and also the students’ copies of the next Revelation lesson. Got a booklet set up for the book of Romans and the Romans outline, and transferred some of the outline to the booklet. “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28) March 21. The morning was foggy and damp, and it looked like it might be a long time before the fog should disappear; but the Lord surprised us and cleared the fog away quickly and brought us welcome sunshine. After making pancake breakfast and getting the kitchen cleaned up, I sat and relaxed a while and prayed and crocheted. Then we took advantage of the sunshine and went outside for a stretch before the meeting on the hill. Most of the rest of the day, I worked on the Romans outline-plus-text booklet and finished through chapter 3. This evening, the Lord surprised us with unusual weather again — a tropical storm with powerful, chilly winds, pretty much like cyclone or typhoon winds; torrential rains that pounded with such force upon the tin roof that the deafening din literally gave me a headache; continuous lightning and thunder. It probably lasted a half hour or so, but it seemed like a long time, it was so fierce. Nuanda was here when the storm started, trying to get his computer to work. He was afraid one of the trees down at his place might fall on his house. He had to wait until the storm ended before he could go home. And I waited until the storm ended before I took my bath. Later in the evening, we listened to a message by Tom Farrell called “Let’s Be a Barney.” Then we sang a couple hymns together and prayed.

March 17. The Lord sent us rain yesterday evening and all night long, and sunshine this morning. On the news this morning, Daddy heard that the prime minister plans to give a speech later today to let the nation know about the proposed isolation program. The cases of COVID in the country are on the rise, and he had promised there would not be another lockdown so we’ll see (hopefully) what the isolation program entails. Daddy can’t get any PNG stations on the radio in order to hear the speech so he’ll have to try to get the details of it from someone else. (We never did hear any kind of details through any source. Nobody seems to be sure what is going on.) The morning was busy with many things and it went by quickly. Read a couple chapters of Mark in Pidgin while I was having my Wednesday morning tea. Had leftover pancakes for breakfast. Prayer time was next. Also finished up the half afghan hexagon that I started yesterday evening.. Made the bed. Folded yesterday’s laundry. Did my walking exercise. Wrote a couple e-mails. Enjoyed Bible study in Genesis. Sent the e-mails. Wrote a bit in journal. Made flatbread to put spaghetti sauce on for my dinner since I can’t eat the noodles. MAF came in with teachers (?) for the community school, and Daddy went up to the airstrip to talk to the pilot. Tim said they didn’t know anything yet about the isolation program, but would let us know. They are doing as much flying this week as they can just in case. (They apparently never found out much either because we never heard back from them.) After nap, I washed my hair, then cut up a huge popo, using half for popo crisp and setting aside half for eating raw. Worked on the Ready lessons, and worked on them again this evening. Started another half hexagon before our devotions together. “As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.” (Psalm 18:30) March 18. The Lord sent us a little rain during the night,; some fog this morning; followed by nice, warm sunshine until late afternoon when a huge front in the western skies brought rain. . Amos came early and finished cutting the grass on the north side of the yard area. Wan came around mid-morning and cleaned out ditches. We are very thankful for their hard work. Later in the morning, the plane came with more teachers. There is talk again that school students will be sent back to their villages again like they were last year. There is also talk that Owenians in Port Moresby are thinking of returning to Owena because of the high rate of COVID in Moresby. We wonder if they will bring COVID with them. Most of my time today was spent working on the Ready lessons, and I am thankful for the Lord’s help in finishing that short course. Am going through it now to highlight and italicize words that will be blanks in the students’ copies. Praise the Lord, we did actually get to start back to school today, with all seven students here. March 15. The fog was dark and thick this morning, the kind that usually stays around a while, so Daddy started a fire in the woodstove. However, the fog lifted quickly, and the Lord brought us sunshine. After quiet time this morning, finishing up the afghan hexagon I started last night (the last of the hexagons — just six half hexagons to make), and looking over the story section we were to read in class today, I made the bed and then Daddy and I went outside for some sunshine. The air was still somewhat chilly, however, so I came back inside after just a few minutes. Spent an hour or so writing an e-mail — that includes several interruptions, but I finally got it finished and Daddy sent it off. Then I went back outside, and it was much warmer out so I could enjoy being out there. This afternoon, I changed my desktop and lock screen backgrounds as I had forgotten to do that on the weekend. By then it was about time for school. Amos family came a little before 3:30, but Mike and Dallas didn't show up so we sat down and talked together with Amos family. Amos wanted to share with us about the community meeting regarding the airstrip. Please pray about the situation with the airstrip, and for Nuanda who has had a lot to deal with as a result of this situation. Thank you. Mike and Dallas eventually showed up for school, but it was after 4:15. We talked with them about whether they needed more time off to finish picking coffee or not, and they need at least two whole days. So, after prayer, we dismissed class and sent them back to their coffee gardens. Then we had supper; I washed dishes; and we had baths. March 16. Praise the Lord for sunshine again this morning. There was extra work for Judy to do today after doing the laundry. I was so thankful she was here to help — sort, wash, and cut up greens; cut up onions to go with them; peel and cut up pumpkin — veggies to cook for dinner. My part of dinner preparation was to cook the spaghetti noodles and make the meat sauce. Judy’s help gave me time to finish crocheting a half hexagon which I started yesterday evening, do some Bible study, and spend a little time out in the sunshine. Started more work on the Ready lessons this afternoon, but ended up spending most of the time looking through journal notes — Daddy through his and I through mine — to see if we could find out exactly when it was Daddy was challenged to return to PNG and what verses the Lord used. Finally found what we were looking for this evening. We want to use our calling as examples for the students to see that their going out to serve the Lord should have a solid basis in the Word. March 12. Praise the Lord for giving Daddy a good sleep last night. That should be one of the best things to help him fight off his cold. Another morning with blue skies and no fog. Praise the Lord! And another day so busy that there was hardly time to turn around. Praise God for His strength which we need so much, and His promise to renew our strength if we wait upon Him. Sunny came around 8:00 this morning. I was just getting my breakfast. The first job we had her do was grind rice so I can make rice cereal now and then. After that, she swept the floors and then had a cup of coffee and a couple bananas and a chocolate cookie for snack. I asked Daddy to proofread the recent Revelation study section I had completed. After my breakfast, making the bed, folding the clothes I had washed on Wednesday, and finishing quiet time, I started writing an e-mail to C&C so I could send the Revelation notes. Pastor Nuanda had come and was talking with Daddy for a while. By the time the e-mail was finished and sent, it was time for dinner, and then nap. I was so thankful for a good long nap today. I have felt so worn out. This afternoon, I washed my hair. Then I proofread the next two elder/deacon lessons and printed out the teacher’s copy. This evening, I got all the blanks made for the student copies and will print those out tomorrow. “And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God.” (Colossians 2:19) The whole body, the church, receives its nourishment from the Head, Christ. Just as Joseph’s family would have come to poverty if they did not have someone to give them nourishment, so we would come to spiritual poverty if we did not receive nourishment from the Lord Jesus Christ. March 13. The Lord is giving us another lovely day today. And things have been a little quieter here this morning. We did enjoy a little stretch in the warm sunshine. Then Trophimus brought us a nice popo for which he got some soap, Maggi, and a couple chocolate wafers. After that, I wrote a very short e-mail to C&C with a couple items that I forgot yesterday. And then I did some Bible study and worked on the Ready lessons. This afternoon, I worked on the Ready lessons again for a while. Later on, I made tortillas, had supper, did dishes, had bath, and spent a little more time on the Ready lessons until my brain got too tired. Printed new elder-deacon lessons for the students and then did a little crocheting until it was time for our bedtime devotions together. March 14. The Lord gave us a little rain last night and lots of fog this morning. But it wasn’t too cold; and when the fog lifted, the sun brought more warmth and brightness to the world around us. Pancakes needed to be made for breakfast. I was glad I had made Daddy’s syrup yesterday so that was one less thing to do today. The popo wasn’t quite ready to cut yesterday, but was ready this morning, so cut a couple pieces out of it to make popo syrup for myself. Read the first chapter of Mark while I was waiting for my syrup to cook. After breakfast and kitchen cleanup, I enjoyed time to relax while praying and crocheting. Have just one more hexagon to crochet and then eight half hexagons. The tedious part is going to be hiding all the loose ends. Took a break from sitting and did some walking around the house and made the bed. Then I punched holes in the elder-deacon lessons I had printed yesterday evening, dusted off the students’ desks and notebooks and the teacher’s desk in the classroom since they hadn't been used for a couple weeks, collated the lessons, and added them to the students’ notebooks. After that, I transferred files to my computer, files that Daddy had put on a flash drive out of his computer; looked over the 2020 fourth quarter income report and made a few little revisions; and put it on another flash drive to be transferred to the ACER for sending later. Did a little Bible study and wrote in journal. The afternoon and evening were spent working mostly on the Ready lessons. “12) Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate. 13) Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach…. 15) By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.” (Hebrews 13:12-15) March 10. It is going on 6:45 p.m. This is the first time today I have gotten to sit at a computer. Actually, I haven’t done much sitting at all today. I started the day with Bible reading and a couple cupfuls of tea as my usual Wednesday morning goes. Also started the laundry going early, and started making a few pancakes for my breakfast. Used the time to pray while clothes were washing and while I was making pancakes. All that was done with numerous trips to the door when knock, knock was heard. With all that, it was after 9:00 before I was finally able to sit down and eat my breakfast, and going on 10:00 before I finally got the clothes hung out. There was even a knock at the door while I was out back hanging clothes. After that, I did get to sit down for a while. Spent my sitting down time trying to finish up the hem on the dress that I had shortened. The skirt of the dress was quite full so the hemming job took quite a while. I didn’t finish the hem in the morning because it was too much close work to do all at once. I had been wanting, since Daddy left, to make some cookies; so before dinner, I spent my time in the kitchen making some ginger crinkles. Before I ate, I went out and brought in the dry clothes. After dinner, I brought the rest of the clothes in, did a little more hemming until nap time, and finished the hem after nap. Then I made more cookies — chocolate chip cookies this time. Daddy has been wanting chocolate chip cookies for a long time so I hope he will like them. Two special things that came to the door today. Bananas, for which I prayed, came in the hands of Erovi. Just one hand of a dozen bananas, but I was so thankful for those. Now I can have a banana in my smoothie in the morning. A smoothie just doesn’t taste right without a banana. This evening some large potatoes came in the hands of Yunis. Two or three times as large as the biggest that we usually get here in Owena. I was excited to see those. Thank you, Lord, for those special gifts. And then this evening, the time I look forward to, talking with my best friend. How I look forward to his return! and how I pray for good weather tomorrow! And a safe flight too. And how I also look forward to the return of my very best Friend (Jesus). Finished another afghan hexagon this evening. Twenty-six hexagons are finished now, and there are six to go, plus eight half hexagons. “For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee.” (Psalm 86:5) March 11. “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think….” (Ephesians 3:20a) Now unto Him be praise for answered prayer above and beyond our thoughts and our need. When I got up this morning and looked out the windows, I saw clear blue sky and no fog up or down river. A perfect day for Daddy’s flight home. And on top of that, the Lord had delighted my eyes during the night with stars in a clear, dark sky, hundreds of thousands of stars, the first time in many weeks, maybe months, that I had seen stars. Even though it was 1:30 a.m. when I discovered them, I put my glasses on and stood at the window for a while just drinking in the wonder of it all. Daddy was put on the second flight so did not arrive until a little after mid-morning. By then quite a few clouds had gathered in the sky overhead, white clouds, and high in the sky, no hindrance to the scheduled flight. I was so thankful to have Daddy home again. It has been a very stressful week without him. While I was waiting for the plane, I tried to get e-mails in, but couldn't get a connection. Then I decided to work on a hexagon for the afghan. Had nearly completed one when I heard the roar of the plane engine. Time to get ready for carriers to bring in cargo. Judy and Nendisa were my helpers today. After the carriers received their chocolate wafers and had left, Daddy started unpacking and putting things away, and I started dinner — mashed potatoes, ground beef gravy, and carrots. I was very tired by the time dinner was over and the kitchen was cleaned up, but I could not sleep at nap time. Thoughts kept racing through my mind because my heart was so burdened over a situation that Lewis and I had discussed earlier. So I got up to write a couple e-mails. First we had to get e-mails in — over 2 MB, but praise the Lord, everything came in quite quickly. Then I did the writing. Daddy did the proofreading, and gave his approval; and we sent them off. It was hard to write them, but it was necessary and urgent. Daddy was able to get most of the food put away in the morning, and I was thankful to have just a few items to put away this afternoon. By this evening, I was too tired to do much of anything. Daddy was really tired, too, as he caught a cold while he was in town and wasn’t able to sleep much., and then all the shopping he had to do and business he had to tend to tired him out the more. So he is getting ready to go to bed early. “But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.” (Galatians 6:14) March 8. The weather today has been pretty much like yesterday’s weather. There must have been some rain during the night as the windows were wet this morning. A relatively quiet day. After breakfast, I did hear someone calling out an announcement to the village. A man was going by the house as I opened the window to try to hear, and he said they were calling people to cut the grass on the airstrip. Finished an afghan hexagon that I started last night. Wrote an e-mail. Talked with Pastor Nuanda. He was heading up to the airstrip to talk to the men to get their input about a matter. Put a pot of rice and soup beans on to cook for dinner. After it started boiling, I went out in the fresh air for a while and pulled some weeds. After dinner, I started getting journal notes ready to send to Connie. Finished them up after nap. Then I did the past two days’ dishes. There was getting to be quite a pile of them so decided to do them this afternoon instead of waiting until evening. Light rain started late this afternoon. This evening, I enjoyed my chat with Daddy. I always look forward to hearing his voice. Also did some work on the “Ready” lessons for SCMS. March 9. The rain must have lasted the whole night; but the fog wasn’t as thick this morning, and it rose quickly. I was delighted and thankful for the warm sunshine. Water was barely coming this morning so I mentioned it to Danny when he brought his phone. He said he would look and see if anything were cut or broken or taken apart and would let Tomas know. A little later Tomas came to get his phone he had left here for charging yesterday evening, so I asked him if the water were coming through good at his house. He said it was, but he would check between there and here. It wasn’t long after he left before the water started coming good again. A little later, Nendisa came by. Her father had sent her up to check and see if I were getting water okay. (Amos family were at the house most of the morning so apparently are done picking coffee or are doing something different today.) I was outside soaking up some sunshine when Danny came by to get his phone. He said he hadn’t seen any problem along the pipeline so hadn't said anything to Tomas. I told him that was okay as Tomas had come by and I had asked him to check. Either he had fixed it or it had fixed itself. Either way, I was thankful that it was fixed. When the water started coming good again, I filled the washing machine, ready to wash clothes tomorrow morning. Yesterday evening, I finished taking the hem out of a dress that I had hemmed too short, and this morning, I started sewing the new hem. After that, I went outside, straightened some flowers, and pulled a few weeds. Came back in and got Danny his phone. Discovered four bulbs that someone had put inside the fence and asked Danny what they were. All he could tell me is that they are really nice flowers; plant them and they’ll grow. So that’s what I did. Since the ground was nice and soft after the rain, I just made some holes with a stick and stuck each bulb in a hole. So we’ll wait and see what comes up. When I came back inside, I wrote an e-mail to C&C, attached journal notes, and tried to send it. Since there were 9 e-mails at 1.44 MB coming in, it didn’t send. Three of the e-mails came in, and then connection was lost. Decided to go get my dinner. Oh, yes, the rest of the popo needed to be cut up. I had cut some out of it to use in a smoothie for my breakfast and left the rest to take care of later. Got out a container, cut up the popo, and put it away in the fridge. Got out the leftovers and warmed up some dinner. Then I took my dinner to the spare room where the ACER is set up and, praise the Lord, He gave a good connection. In just a few minutes, the other six e-mails at 1.39 MB came in and the one that I wrote went out. Relaxed and did a little crocheting before settling down for a nap. This afternoon and evening, I worked on the “Ready” lessons. I also crocheted another afghan hexagon and talked with somebody I dearly love. March 5. Praise the Lord for answered prayer above and beyond what we asked. He did indeed give us a dry day, and it was also sunny, fog-free, and calm winds. The plane came around 9:30, but didn’t land right away as they were training a pilot. Then they were on the ground quite a while, loading up with coffee. While we were waiting for the plane, I had breakfast and quiet time, did a little crocheting, changed the bedsheet and made up the bed, and enjoyed a little time out in the sunshine. After the plane left, I did some walking and wrote a couple e-mails. Then I filled the washing machine so I can wash clothes tomorrow morning. This afternoon, I bleached and cleaned the tub and toilet, spent some time on the next English Revelation study, and sent the two e-mails. However, one address is not correct, and I do not have a current address. Spent more time on the Revelation study this evening. And then enjoyed a time to chat with my best earthly friend.. O Lord, may we keep our hearts clean, not just from sins of commission, but from sins of omission. The apostle Paul was able to say, “Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men.” (Acts 20:26) How many opportunities have I missed so that blood will be required at my hands? “When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die; if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.” (Ezekiel 33:8) March 6. I heard the rain during the night and prayed that the Lord would bring some sunshine in the morning for hanging out laundry. I got up this morning and saw the very foul weather and prayed that the Lord would bring some sunshine for hanging out the laundry. When some of the drizzly, rainy-looking fog had passed away, I saw a huge front all across the western sky and asked the Lord to bring some sunshine for hanging out the laundry. By 8:30, when the washing was done and the clothes were ready to be hung out, the Lord had taken away the front and the fog. There were large patches of blue sky, and it was a beautiful morning for hanging out laundry. Thank you, Lord, for answering the simple prayer of your child. After hanging out clothes, I sat down and rested while praying and crocheting. Then I made the bed, filled out a missionary survey for FBC, sent it to Daddy in an e-mail to look over and make any needed changes, washed out the insoles to my slippers, and washed out a dress that had grease spots on it. This afternoon, I did a little Bible study, wrote a bit in my journal, and finished the Revelation study that I started yesterday. This evening, I did some crocheting, enjoyed a long chat with Daddy, and proofread the Revelation study I had finished. March 7. A cloudy day all day, but no rain. Kept busy today with many little things. The house is so quiet. Was able to get e-mails in this morning — just one, from Daddy, letting me know to go ahead and send the completed missionary survey to FBC. This afternoon, I attached that survey to an e-mail and the modem had no sooner connected when the e-mail was gone. GBC put up a volley ball net beside the church building, and the young people played ball this afternoon. Several people brought phones to be charged. Praise the Lord for helping me make corrections in several chapters of Matyu and get those chapters set up in the print file. A pleasant chat with someone extra special helped pass a good part of a quiet evening. I looked for sermons on flash drives, but couldn’t find any except for the few we’d been listening too. I was sure we had another flash drive with sermons on it. I did find some other animal pictures that I wanted to add to my picture file, but when I opened my picture file, all the folders from a-e were gone!?! How could they have disappeared? I figured I’d better save any of the new picture files so they wouldn’t disappear. When I dragged February2021 file to the flash drive, it had hundreds of pictures in it. No way. There were probably only ten, more or less. Is that where the missing folders are? Sure enough, all the missing folders were in the February 2021 folder. How they ever got in there is a great mystery, but I was thankful to find them and get them back out of there. March 3. Praise the Lord for sunshine today, even though the winds were still very strong. Daddy let the fire go out around noon. We are thankful for the wood stove, but the heated air gets overwhelming after a while. This morning, I wrote the February progress report and an e-mail to go with it which Daddy sent off to Pastor Ogle. This afternoon, I did a little Bible study, and the rest of my computer time today was spent working on the “Ready” lessons for SCMS. “10) That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; 11) Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness.” (Colossians 1:10-11 ) March 4. Praise the Lord that the airstrip is firming up. The air was very chilly this morning, but there was a little sunshine to warm things up. Also had the wood stove going for a short while. Following breakfast and quiet time, the morning was busy with various tasks — crocheting (and more praying), making the bed, folding the laundry and putting it away, helping Daddy with some of his packing needs, getting a couple e-mails ready to send, printing January bank statement, making some address changes in the address file, doing some Bible study and some walking exercise. This afternoon and evening were given to the work of writing the March update, getting the acknowledgments added, and getting all that into e-mails ready to send to C&C. “6) Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee…. 8) And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.” (Deuteronomy 31:6,8) March 1. Praise the Lord for sunshine again, although the air was quite chilly early in the morning, and a very cool wind came up later in the morning. Wrote a very short e-mail and another which I intended to be longer, but struggled a bit with what to write. So I just left it short and promised to write more later. Elijah and Nehemiah came to cut firewood, and Mike and Wan replaced screen on most of the rest of the windows that have been torn for too long a time — since the house was stoned in 2013. (They ran out of screen before they finished.) I did take time for more Bible study after writing the e-mails. Other time today was spent working on the print file for the New Testament scriptures. “But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.” (Job 23:10) “9) And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. 10) As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.” (Galatians 6:9-10) March 2. Chilly, windy, and drizzly today. The house is very cold. Thankful for fire in the wood stove. Even with that, I had warm socks and my slippers on all morning and didn’t remove jacket until noon, and sweatshirt until after nap. Judy came early and washed clothes, but had to hang them inside. She also husked and cut up uxai with onion, peeled and cut up pumpkin, and filled the wood box. So grateful for her help this morning. I looked through the e-mails, deleted a couple, copied one out to print for Daddy to take to town and answer for Connie, printed that plus shopping list and a page of Matthew to make sure the print I am using is easily readable. Also tended the peanuts that had been roasting in the wood stove oven and the uxai and pumpkin that were cooking on top of the wood stove. Later I worked on making corrections in Matthew and setting up more of it in the print file. This evening, I did more work on the “Ready” lessons for the final missionary training course. “But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.” (I Peter 4:13) |
