September 29. The Lord gave us another warm, dry season type day. Slept in this morning until I heard the 6:30 lotu bell. Then I got up to make our Sunday pancake breakfast. After breakfast and quiet time, I worked on English lessons in the computer until church time. A number of people were here early for church this morning. Amos was feeling well enough to start the service so he took care of the introductory matters and then called Dallas to come and lead songs. Mike preached this morning since Daddy is still dealing with a cold and bad cough. He completed his preaching on the purpose of the church. Matthew preached the afternoon service, having as his text I John 3:1,2, and bringing out the greatness of God’s love for his children. This afternoon, I did more work on the English lessons. Also put math review exercises on the chalkboard, started looking over the next science unit, found 6th grade lessons dealing with greatest common factors and lowest common denominators (the eighth grade lessons are rather complex). Did the dishes right away after supper. Practiced keyboard a while. Enjoyed a nice bath since the evening was still warm. Finished the English lessons. Had a snack. Printed the English lessons and photocopied math lessons and a math quiz. “28Thou art my God, and I will praise thee: thou art my God, I will exalt thee. 29O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.” Psalm 118:28,29

September 27. The day started out as a dry season type day, but the afternoon and evening turned back to rains. The school day went well, and most of the day was pretty quiet and routine. Daddy still has not been able to get an answer from Ben about a flight booking. There is a possibility that some of the men will be doing training flights in the area on Monday, and that they can pick Daddy up. Daddy needs to know something definite so he can coordinate housing and use of a vehicle. We thank the Lord for sending us a popo today, just ready for cutting, so we were able to enjoy some fruit this afternoon. After cutting up the popo and having a bowl of fruit, I cut Daddy’s hair. It needed to be cut before he goes to town. Then I worked on the next Bible lesson until supper time. Had bath right after supper before the evening got too chilly. Afterward, Daddy was just getting ready to go out and turn on the generator when the rain started coming down in torrents. So while he was waiting for the rain to slow down, I started mending one of his socks. Once the generator was on, I turned on the computer and started working there. Wrote in journal and then worked on the Bible lesson until it was finished. Then I put dish water on to heat, had my evening vitamins, got snack ready, washed the dishes, had snack, and went back to the computer to write a Bible quiz on the lesson I had just finished. “1O Praise the LORD, all ye nations: praise him, all ye people. 2For his merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of the LORD endureth for ever. Praise ye the LORD.” Psalm 117 September 28. Another dry season day. After lotu, Sunny did laundry, swept the floors, and cut up a pumpkin. While she was busy with those jobs, I was busy at the computer, getting the student copy of the Bible lesson ready and getting music lessons put into a word file because Philemon and Lynn had sent word down that they would be coming this evening for teaching on music. I continued working even after the generator was turned off, and worked until the computer battery went low. Around 11:00, I went out and brought in the top sheet for the bed and got the bed made so we could be ready for nap right after lunch. Got busy patching Daddy’s socks while the computer was recharging. Had a few minutes to work at the computer again until dinner time. Recharged the computer again after nap and started working on English lessons for next week. Right after supper, I did the dishes. As soon as the power was on, I printed out three music lessons for Philemon and Lynn and also printed out the Bible lessons. I started practicing keyboard, but was having a hard time because now several of the keys don’t work. Around 7:00, Philemon and Lynn came. They brought Ryan with them too. Praise the Lord, they have a good heart attitude about learning about good music. It was already 8:45 when they left, but they needed to talk over some things that had been troubling them. There was only enough time after they left for a snack and for writing in my journal. “O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: because his mercy endureth for ever.” Psalm 118:1
September 25. It was early to rise this morning — wash day. Thank the Lord for Bonita’s willingness to get up early too, and to come do the laundry for us. The Lord gave us another very warm, dry season type day today. There was just a small group in lotu this morning. Many people have been staying down at the river until they are done planting their peanut gardens. Gibson was scheduled to preach, but he must not have looked at the list as he wasn’t here. Matthew was ready and preached a short message. Since lotu finished a bit early, we started school earlier, and the students were out by noon. I was able to get a batch of greens sorted and washed while they were studying for their history test. Dallas stayed a short while after school and cut up some small kindling. I must have been really tired today, as I had a long, sound sleep at nap time. Had a hard time getting awake afterward. After nap, I got lesson plans written, put some review math exercises on the chalkboard, and worked on the next Bible lesson in Galatians. After supper, I got the greens cut up, along with a few onions, and put in the pressure cooker ready to cook. When that was done, bath water was hot. I was thankful for a pleasant, warm bath before the evening got too cool. After bath, I wrote in my journal. Then I started writing the final history test on chapters 1-3 before doing dishes and having snack. Finished writing the history test before saying good-night to the computer. E-mails aren’t sending on these clearer evenings. “13He will bless them that fear the LORD, both small and great. 14The LORD shall increase you more and more, you and your children. 15Ye are blessed of the LORD which made heaven and earth…..18But we will bless the LORD from this time forth and for evermore. Praise the LORD.” Psalm 115:13-18 September 26. Another dry season type day. Daddy has tried off and on all day to get in touch with Ben at MAF, but has not been able to. Ben has been in meetings a good part of the day, and no one answered the phone at other times. So Daddy still doesn’t have a flight scheduled for going to town. I am attempting to give the students more reading and more oral exercises in English to help them get a better hold on speaking correctly. We have started reading the book of Matthew together. Read chapter 1 yesterday and 2 today. Then I asked them questions, some of which they were to answer in the positive and some in the negative, but all with complete sentences. They all did well in their history test, and finished around 1:15. I had a long nap again, after which I made more bread for Daddy and set it to rise. Then I perfected the history exam on chapters 1-3 and put that on a flash drive ready to print. Worked more on the next Bible lesson for school. Then it was time to put the bread in the oven. While the bread was baking, I folded yesterday’s laundry and put it away. Then mixed up tuna for supper and also made the rest of the mushy sweet potatoes into pancakes as part of my supper. This evening, I worked more on the Bible lesson. Daddy and I made the shopping list. I printed out the shopping list, history tests, and bank statements. “Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful.” Psalm 116:5
Please pray earnestly for all those who said that God worked in their hearts. Their names are given, so they can be prayed for by name. Thank you so much! September 23. It was going on 11:00 before we finally got to bed last night. It was about 7:20 before the meeting started yesterday evening. About a half hour was spent in congregational singing, and testimony time started around 7:50. There were nine great testimonies given, and it was about 10:10 before the meeting was closed. There was a good group there, and we praise the Lord that they were all able to hear the testimonies. Esau did come back as he said he was going to. He said afterward that he was sorry he had missed all the other meetings as there is a spark in his heart that needs to be rekindled as well. How I pray that he will continue to come back and hear the Word and will turn his back on the things of the world. The first testimony was from Max who was striving to obey the Lord in many things, but always had excuses for not getting ready to come to church on time because he does not like to mix with people. The Lord worked in his heart about not making excuses. Pastor Amos, speaking for himself and his family — they are ready to leave all and go wherever the Lord sends them. They have purposed in their hearts to start giving offerings, to pay off all their debts, to leave their coffee gardens (7+), their food gardens, their house and land, and the comforts of Owena to take the gospel to those who still need to hear — John 4:34; Matthew 4:10; Acts 20:24,33. Elisabeth was next but gave her testimony entirely in Owena and spoke very softly so I could not hear her. I asked her to come some time and tell me her testimony. Dallas, speaking for himself and his wife — God had kindled a fire in his heart in 2016-17 when Daddy was here and preached, and he had wanted to go out with the Gospel — John 6:5, Matthew 3:11. Now the fire has been rekindled, and they are ready to lose their lives for the sake of the gospel, to look unto Jesus, and be yielded to His will — Hebrews 12:2, Mark 14:36. Daniel — deeply stirred by the description of Christ’s sufferings and His blood that was shed for our sins and presented to God to satisfy the demands of a holy, righteous God. If you want Christ to be first in your life, what will you do? Hebrews 10:22 — draw near to God with a true heart in full assurance of faith. Mike, speaking for himself and his wife — also had been stirred up in 2016-17 when Daddy came and preached on missions from John 6. If I give what I have to God, God will bless it. Jesus gave His disciples the work of feeding the multitudes. I am one of His disciples, and I must take the gospel to those who are hungry. We are ready to lose our lives to go and serve the Lord. We cannot keep our affections on the things of this world. Benson — I have decided to follow Jesus and be His servant. Tomas — I thought I was okay, but saw that my faith was dying. Now the fire has been rekindled, and I am waiting on God to show me what to do — where to go or if to stay. Pastor Matthew — the desire to do God’s work was about to die in my life, but now the fire has been rekindled. I hear God calling me to go and take the good news to other places. The Lord gave us a dry season morning and a rainy season afternoon today. Slept in this morning until 6:30. I was thankful I had given the students the day off to rest or do whatever they needed to do. I had a lot to do as well. Trash was about to overflow, and there is a rat that is stealing trash to build her nest. So the trash had to be burned today. Daddy wanted cookies made too so I made oatmeal cookies with dried mixed fruit. While I was working at my jobs, Daddy was putting our double rocker together that we bought at Aldi. How nice it is to have a place to sit together now! Made the rest of the rice and fish into rice patties for our dinner so there would be enough for both of us. We finished up the leftover greens and leftover pumpkin too so will have to make a meal tomorrow. Before my nap had ended, the rains came. And they came down in torrents with a deafening roar on the roof. This afternoon, I washed my hair. Then perfected and proofread the monthly update and got the copies for mailing ready to send off to Christy. After that, I got out the sheet I had set aside for making curtains for the schoolroom, cut it in half, and started stitching up the hem on the half for the west window. (The old curtains that have been in here for years were getting rotten.) Finished stitching that hem after doing dishes this evening and got that curtain hung. How much nicer it looks! Lewis sent and received a couple e-mails while I was finishing the curtain. Then I got the notes ready to send to Christy for the monthly updates that she e-mails. Had a wee bath while Daddy tried sending and receiving. Praise the Lord everything went out, and e-mails came in! Had my evening snack, and now I am writing in my journal. “Praise ye the LORD. Blessed is the man that feareth the LORD, that delighteth greatly in his commandments.” Psalm 112:1 September 24. The morning was sunny and warm again, but the rains came thundering across the mountains early in the afternoon, and the air turned chilly and damp. Back to school today. Sunny and Dallas were here at 7:30. Sunny had come up from the river, and Dallas from his house. I was thankful to have Sunny here early, and gave her the job of peeling and cutting up kaukau (white sweet potato) for our dinner. It didn’t take her long at all. Later in the morning, when the students were doing independent work, I cut up a small pumpkin to cook for our dinner as well. Judy came along about ten minutes later, and Mike after five minutes more. Since everyone was here early, we went ahead and started school early. That turned out to be a blessing as they were able to study for their Bible quiz and take the quiz too. Since we started class fifteen minutes early, I let them leave for home fifteen minutes early too. Judy, however, stayed to fill up the washing machine so it is ready for her to wash clothes early in the morning. After nap, I got lesson plans made and wrote some math and English exercises on the chalkboard. Before I finished, I hurried and got something to eat as I could see a migraine coming. I was thankful that I got only a very minor headache. After finishing the job I was working on, I started writing another English lesson in the computer. I want the students to get as much practice as they can with speaking proper English. After supper and dishes, I finished up and proofread the lesson and put both teacher and student copies on a flash drive to be printed. Also got a couple weeks’ worth of journal notes ready to go to Connie; and, after bath, I attached those to a short e-mail to go to our daughters. Then I printed the English lessons and also photocopied the sieve of Eratosthenes for the students to have fun with (hopefully) in math class tomorrow. Last of all, I wrote in my journal. Sosthenes called this evening and let us know that he had gotten saved at the youth meetings at Cornerstone. He was trying to reach his dad, but couldn’t get an answer. Praise the Lord for his salvation!
September 22. The last day of the meetings. A very cool, cloudy, windy fall day. Sunday is usually my sleep-in day, but not this morning as the meeting would be at 9:00. Up early to make pancakes. A little time left, after breakfast and quiet time, to practice keyboard for this morning’s special. Even though Liberty Baptist Church had their own meeting this morning, there was still a good crowd here, and a number of visitors, including Mata’s mother, Mark, Mandah, Korin, Katrina, and others. I was especially thankful to the Lord to see Esau. My heart has been especially burdened for him. With tears, Mata gave a brief testimony this morning of how the Lord has been working in her life and then sang “I Have Decided to Follow Jesus.” Amos said that his whole family has been sitting down and talking together about how they can follow Jesus. Daddy’s topic this morning was, “If you truly love Jesus, you would….” Several responded to the invitation, probably half of them young people. We are thankful for tender hearts, and we trust the Lord to continue to bring forth much fruit in lives. Esau seemed a bit broken and speechless as he held onto my hand during handshake time after the meeting. After a few minutes he helped me bring the power cord into the house and told me that he had decided to come to the meeting this evening. Daddy and I had dinner and then a nap while the youth group had their meeting. This afternoon and early evening, I did some revising of the monthly update.
September 20. Clear starry sky before we went to bed last night, but a cloudy morning with a few sprinkles of rain. Periods of sunshine this afternoon, with intermittent periods of light showers. There were people around early this morning, and several of them had needs, but I still had a little time to practice keyboard before the meetings. We praise the Lord for a number of folks for whom we pray often, and other visitors as well, who came to the morning meeting. The messages both meetings centered around Christ, who He is, and what He has done for us, so God’s people were encouraged by the reminder of Christ’s suffering and work on our behalf, and unsaved who were here heard the gospel. Dinah has continued to come to all the meetings since yesterday morning so we are thankful for that. No invitation was given today, but the teaching on Christ will continue tomorrow. I really messed up on the music for the special this afternoon, but I was thankful that the students just kept on singing and sang well. I lost my place toward the end of the third verse, and the singing was moving at too fast a pace for me to get back into rhythm. It is one of the hardest songs for me to play too so once I lost rhythm, I was lost. When the second meeting was over, I practiced with the students for about an hour, as we hadn’t started practicing a couple of the songs until just yesterday. Afterward, I had a much needed nap. It was after 4:00 when I got up, and I needed to fix something for supper. Cut up a little onion to add to rice and set the rice on to cook. While that was cooking, I cut up a small popo and ate a little bit with some banana as I was hungry. It was 5:30 before the rice was done and the pumpkin was heated up so we could eat. After getting things cleaned up and put away, I set dish water on to heat; and while it was heating, I punched holes in lessons I had printed several days ago. After writing in my journal this evening, I got to work on the monthly update. The month is quickly passing, and the update needs to be done. September 21. Is it the first day of autumn? 😊 We are having an autumn-like day here — wind and clouds, and a little bit of rain. Sunny and Bonita came early this morning and put some fresh flowers out in the meeting room. Then Sunny did the laundry for us, and Bonita swept the meeting room. After breakfast and quiet time, I practiced music for a while. Then spent some more time praying until time for the first meeting. Praise the Lord for a number of visitors again, and that Mark was there again among them. Daddy spoke on being ready to forsake all and follow Christ. In his preaching, he included a little bit lengthy discourse on music since we see the contemporary music taking hold in the church. Since it is Saturday, and the youth weren’t in school, there were quite a few of them in the meeting too. And the second meeting today was the youth meeting. So Daddy and I were able to have a bit more relaxing lunch. After the youth meeting, three of the young men (Uriah, Benson, and Topias) stayed to chop firewood for us. Trophimus helped them too. While they were working, Daddy and I had our nap. After nap, I practiced keyboard and did a little computer work. I started getting supper a little early, but forgot that Daddy didn’t have enough bread so I let him have the last pancake, and I threw together a few tortillas for myself. As soon as we were done eating and I had cleaned up the table, I had bath. Then I put dishwater on to heat and practiced tonight’s song while dish water was heating. Took the keyboard out to the meeting room, and greeted Matusa family. It was a blessing to see Nandawioxa here again. Came back in and started washing dishes. Was still washing dishes when the evening meeting began. As the meeting progressed, more and more people came in, many of them young people that we don’t even know. Daddy spoke more this evening on forsaking all to follow Christ. Part of his message had to do with excuses that people make for not serving the Lord. An invitation was given at the end, and several came to the altar. Max stood up afterward and acknowledged that he was one who was always finding excuses for not serving the Lord. After the meeting, I practiced music with the students until time for lights out. “1Praise ye the LORD. I will praise the LORD with my whole heart, in the assembly of the upright, and in the congregation. 2The works of the LORD are great, sought out of all them that have pleasure therein. 3His work is honourable and glorious: and his righteousness endureth for ever. 4He hath made his wonderful works to be remembered: the LORD is gracious and full of compassion.” Psalm 111:1-4
September 18. The morning was very foggy. Tomas did the preaching in lotu, teaching about the judgment seat of Christ. In spite of the fact that many people are off in their distant garden plots digging for planting peanuts, there was a good number in lotu. After lotu, Bonita washed clothes, peeled and cut up a pumpkin, and swept the meeting room floor and took out the dead flowers. I did some computer work — started making up the history test the students will be taking after they come back to school. Did some more organizing. Practiced keyboard. SIL came in today to get coffee. Praise the Lord that Matthew was able to get back in time for the special meetings which start tomorrow. Before we finished eating our dinner, we heard a few little raindrops on the roof. We hurried outside to get the clothes in. The rain was not wasting any time building up into a downpour. We hurried as fast as we could. Praise the Lord, only a few clothes got a little extra wet before we got them all inside. We put things on hangers and hung a few things in the schoolroom. It didn’t take them long to finish drying at all. This afternoon, I spent more time preparing the history test. Right after supper, I washed up a small bunch of greens that someone had brought today. Set them aside to dry off while I did the dishes. Then got them cut up with some onion and ready to be cooked. Praise the Lord for seven who got together to pray again this evening! Afterward three of the students came to practice music. Don’t know where Sunny was. September 19. Praise the Lord for answered prayer today. He gave us dry weather most of the day. There were a couple little periods of rain. After breakfast and quiet time, I had a little time to finish up the history test before the first meeting started. There was not a large number of people here for the first of the special meetings, but most everyone who was here arrived pretty much on time. The first hour was spent singing, hearing announcements, and hearing special music and testimonies. The second hour was the preaching hour. Daddy talked about revival and the need for revival among the members of GIBC. Matthew translated into Owena. Daddy was very gentle in his presentation, but very pointed. At the invitation, people flocked to the altar. There were more adults at the altar than in their seats, but there were also youth and even Matthew’s young son. What a joy to see Dinah there praying. She has been away from the Lord for a long time. But this is only a beginning. How we desire to see lasting fruit of revival, not just temporary emotional decisions! As I thanked the Lord at lunch time for His work in hearts, my heart was so full that I wept. After I prayed, Daddy went ahead and ate while I practiced the afternoon special with the students. I also wrote a note to send down to Esau, urging him to come to the meetings. My heart has been very burdened for him. I gave the note to Jaydine after the second meeting so she could give it to him. Then I sat down for lunch. They had already rung the bell for the afternoon meeting — a very short break in between. Just about everyone who was there for the first meeting stayed for the second. In the afternoon meeting, Daddy began teaching on “Who Jesus Is” and why he deserves to be first in our lives. He did not finish this section and did not give an invitation this afternoon. Nuanda had come to both meetings and was busy taking notes. After the meeting, the students and I practiced tomorrow’s music, and some music for later that needed to be practiced too. I was very tired by the time they left, but also hungry as I had only had a small breakfast and a small lunch. I warmed up a pancake and a little bit of popo for a topping and sat down to eat that. That need satisfied, I then lay down for a nap. After nap, I proofread the history test and put it on a flash drive. Also found music for “Wonderful Bible” and “At Calvary” and got those set up and put on a flash drive. Time to get supper on, but I had cramps in my stomach so lay down a short while with a hot water bottle to soothe the stomach. Then I made the rest of the mashed potatoes into potato patties and warmed up the greens and some pumpkin for our supper. Enjoyed a nice bath right after supper. Then printed out “At Calvary” so I could practice that before the youth came for their meeting. After that, I put dish water on to heat and printed out the history tests while it was heating. Washed the dishes — quite a large amount of them again — and then came to write in my journal.
September 16. PNG Independence Day. Another very dry day. All was pretty quiet around the village most of the day, although early this morning, Daddy answered the door at least half a dozen times. First thing I did after breakfast and quiet time was start making a file of the Bible verses Daddy wants printed for his messages this week. After the computer battery ran low, we unpacked boxes until about 11:30. Then I remembered that there were no leftovers for dinner so I’d better get busy in the kitchen. Got out all the potatoes, peeled and washed them, cut them up into small chunks, and set them on to cook for mashed potatoes. Then I got out the smallest pumpkin, cut it up, peeled the pieces, and put them on to cook. Our dinner was ready about 12:45. Mashed the potatoes, but didn’t drain off enough water, so we ended up having mashed potato soup. It tasted just as good as mashed potatoes. This afternoon, I washed my hair and then finished getting together the verses for Daddy. Worked a bit on organizing and putting more things away that we had unpacked. After supper, I peeled and cut up a popo that needed to be taken care of right away. Did a little more organizing while the dish water was heating, and then did the dishes. Looked over the list of verses I had set up for Daddy, to make sure I hadn’t missed any. Then put them on a flash drive to put in Daddy’s computer for printing. Wrote in journal. Heated water for bath and had snack. Had bath. Finished up Bible lesson and got student lesson mostly set up. Six men met together this evening to pray for the revival meetings—Daddy, Tomas, Amos, Philemon, Mike, and Dallas. Praise the Lord for these men who have a heart for the Lord, for His church, and for revival! Amos and Philemon also both had a prayer list ready for the prayer time. “Whoso is wise, and will observe these things, even they shall understand the lovingkindness of the LORD.” Psalm 107:43 September 17. Last night before bed, the skies were clear, the full moon brightened up the sky, and no fog could be seen. By 1:00 a.m., thick clouds and fog had covered the moon although the moon’s light still shone through. The fog cleared away before mid-morning, but the air turned very humid by late morning. Around mid-afternoon, the rain came down in torrents, and our water supply became very muddy. We let the water run until all the dirt had worked itself through the lines and the water had cleared. Later the hard rain subsided, but light rains continued for several hours. The first order of business after breakfast and quiet time was to work at the computer. Proofread the next Bible lesson for school and made sure it was all ready to put on the flash drive for printing. When the battery ran low, I did more organizing and putting away of things we had unpacked. Then Daddy and I went for a nice walk up to the top of the airstrip and back. I didn’t have quite as much energy as I had the other day, but still not too bad. Of course, I had already been on my feet for a while organizing and putting things away so that’s probably where some of my energy had gone. When we came back from our walk, I practiced keyboard. Then we had dinner and nap. This afternoon, I started the next Bible lesson so I don’t get behind. Then Daddy and I unpacked the last two items — the two big suitcases. Now all the unpacking is done, praise the Lord! Just have a number of things that need to be put away somewhere. This evening, after washing dishes, I practiced keyboard for a good while. Took an eye break and put away a few more little things. Had snack and then wrote in journal. Praise the Lord for five who came this evening to pray — Philemon, Tomas, Amos, Gibson, and Daddy. We didn’t really expect Dallas and Mike to show up this evening, especially after all the rain. Their dwellings are a long way from here. “Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies.” Psalm 108:13
September 15. Another very dry day, but nicely warm. Didn’t get as hot as yesterday. Daddy preached both meetings today, covering the chapter on the Lord’s supper in the discipleship book. Praise the Lord for five people who responded to the invitation which was after the second meeting when the teaching was completed. I was thankful to have been able to sit through most of the first meeting today. I just had to get up and walk around a couple times, as sitting for two hours straight is hard on my legs. In the afternoon, the valley was filled with fires again, and the smoke filled the meeting room (windows and door where all open), making my eyes burn and making me cough. So I had to come back into the house area. After the second meeting, the students and I practiced songs for them to sing during the special meetings. When they left, Daddy went and lay down again for a while. He was quite tired after two meetings of preaching. After supper and dishes, I organized more things that we had already unpacked and hung up “new” curtains in our bedroom. Unpacked one small box. Then had a snack and a wee bath. Worked on the next Bible lesson for school after that. “31Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! 32Let them exalt him also in the congregation of the people, and praise him in the assembly of the elders.” Psalm 107:31,32
September 13. The Lord gave us a sunnier, warmer day today and a fair bit of blue sky. It was a welcome change from the cold, damp, cloudy, windy days we’d been having. We are really needing rain, however. In spite of all the clouds, there has been very little rain, and the ground is very dry and hard. People are very busy trying to dig the ground to plant gardens too. It is peanut planting time right now. Today was the last day of school for this term. This coming Monday is Independence Day, and that starts a week’s holiday. I will enjoy the break, as well as the students will. Special meetings are planned for the church from Thursday through Sunday, two meetings per day; and the students are planning to sing for most of those meetings. The students had a math test on English and metric measures today, and I was pleased with their grades as they had a hard time with that chapter. We also finished up a lesson in Bible and a lesson in history. They will need to study both of those when they come back to school and have a quiz on their Bible lesson and a test in history. At the end of school, we took some time to clean the meeting room, and Anna Jean filled up the washing machine for washing clothes tomorrow morning. Then we all had dinner together — rice with tuna, greens with onions and uxai, and cucumbers — to celebrate Mike’s and Bonita’s birthdays. Had a little gift bag for each to take home. Afterward, Mike and Dallas cut some firewood, and Daddy and I had our nap. This afternoon, I graded the English lessons the students finished today. Did a little more organizing. Took all the trash out and burned it. Had supper. Did dishes, and was all done with that job by 6:00 when Daddy turned on the generator. After dishes, I wrote in journal. Then pulled the old contact paper off one of the shelves of the bookshelf and covered that shelf with linoleum. Wrote an e-mail to Ellen. Then covered two more shelves. Had a snack and then a nice bath. “Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!” Psalm 107:15 September 14. The fog lifted quickly this morning, and the Lord gave us a very warm, dry season day. There weren’t very many in lotu this morning as many people are off digging peanut gardens at the river or in the kunai (tall grass). After lotu, Sunny did the laundry and swept the floors. I got the August progress report written and have that ready to send to Pastor Ogle. Not long after Sunny left, Daddy and I went for exercise in the warm sunshine and fresh air. It was so good to get out, and I seemed to have a lot of energy this morning so the exercise was even more enjoyable. When we got back to the house, I made some chocolate chip cookie bars (we haven’t found our cookie sheets yet), and Daddy put up a shelf in the office that we had taken down from another part of the office so we can set up our double rocking chair. After lunch, Daddy went out and brought clothes in while I cleaned up the kitchen. Then we made the bed and had a nap. Most of the afternoon was spent unpacking. I was thankful to find the CD with Bible Explorer and also Bible Collection Suite. The latter may be too old to use in the new computers, however. Am hoping that Daddy can download e-sword when he goes to town again. It is a lot like Bible Collection Suite. This evening, after washing dishes, I practiced keyboard as the students want to sing special music for most of the special meetings. Afterward I had a bath, proofread the progress report and put it in Word for e-mailing, wrote in journal. “21Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! 22And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works with rejoicing.” Psalm 107:21,22 |
