September 16. PNG Independence Day. Another very dry day. All was pretty quiet around the village most of the day, although early this morning, Daddy answered the door at least half a dozen times. First thing I did after breakfast and quiet time was start making a file of the Bible verses Daddy wants printed for his messages this week. After the computer battery ran low, we unpacked boxes until about 11:30. Then I remembered that there were no leftovers for dinner so I’d better get busy in the kitchen. Got out all the potatoes, peeled and washed them, cut them up into small chunks, and set them on to cook for mashed potatoes. Then I got out the smallest pumpkin, cut it up, peeled the pieces, and put them on to cook. Our dinner was ready about 12:45. Mashed the potatoes, but didn’t drain off enough water, so we ended up having mashed potato soup. It tasted just as good as mashed potatoes. This afternoon, I washed my hair and then finished getting together the verses for Daddy. Worked a bit on organizing and putting more things away that we had unpacked. After supper, I peeled and cut up a popo that needed to be taken care of right away. Did a little more organizing while the dish water was heating, and then did the dishes. Looked over the list of verses I had set up for Daddy, to make sure I hadn’t missed any. Then put them on a flash drive to put in Daddy’s computer for printing. Wrote in journal. Heated water for bath and had snack. Had bath. Finished up Bible lesson and got student lesson mostly set up. Six men met together this evening to pray for the revival meetings—Daddy, Tomas, Amos, Philemon, Mike, and Dallas. Praise the Lord for these men who have a heart for the Lord, for His church, and for revival! Amos and Philemon also both had a prayer list ready for the prayer time. “Whoso is wise, and will observe these things, even they shall understand the lovingkindness of the LORD.” Psalm 107:43 September 17. Last night before bed, the skies were clear, the full moon brightened up the sky, and no fog could be seen. By 1:00 a.m., thick clouds and fog had covered the moon although the moon’s light still shone through. The fog cleared away before mid-morning, but the air turned very humid by late morning. Around mid-afternoon, the rain came down in torrents, and our water supply became very muddy. We let the water run until all the dirt had worked itself through the lines and the water had cleared. Later the hard rain subsided, but light rains continued for several hours. The first order of business after breakfast and quiet time was to work at the computer. Proofread the next Bible lesson for school and made sure it was all ready to put on the flash drive for printing. When the battery ran low, I did more organizing and putting away of things we had unpacked. Then Daddy and I went for a nice walk up to the top of the airstrip and back. I didn’t have quite as much energy as I had the other day, but still not too bad. Of course, I had already been on my feet for a while organizing and putting things away so that’s probably where some of my energy had gone. When we came back from our walk, I practiced keyboard. Then we had dinner and nap. This afternoon, I started the next Bible lesson so I don’t get behind. Then Daddy and I unpacked the last two items — the two big suitcases. Now all the unpacking is done, praise the Lord! Just have a number of things that need to be put away somewhere. This evening, after washing dishes, I practiced keyboard for a good while. Took an eye break and put away a few more little things. Had snack and then wrote in journal. Praise the Lord for five who came this evening to pray — Philemon, Tomas, Amos, Gibson, and Daddy. We didn’t really expect Dallas and Mike to show up this evening, especially after all the rain. Their dwellings are a long way from here. “Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies.” Psalm 108:13
