February 16. Quite a change in weather today. When I got up, the sun was shining; and the sky was blue with white puffy clouds. There was no fog, but we did get quite a bit of wind throughout the day. It was a welcome change from the rain. Thank you, Lord, for a nice balance. This evening is very warm; but the skies are clear so it could turn cold unless it clouds over. I had to make pancakes just for myself today. Only made a few as they will not keep long unrefrigerated. After breakfast, I finished the flowers on the cupboard so all that painting is done, and the cupboard is ready to hang. Lotu didn’t start until about 10:25 and then with only a handful of people. Amos preached in the first meeting, continuing his message that he started last week on the prophecies of Christ’s birth. Last week, he taught about the Old Testament prophecies; and this week, he showed their fulfillments in the New Testament. Matthew’s preaching in the afternoon was on the story of Ananias and Sapphira. After lotu, I worked on a ladies’ meeting lesson and finished that. Then I shut down the computer and put it on to charge even though I hadn’t received a low battery signal yet. Had an early supper and then an early bath so I would be ready when Daddy called. And that was the best part of the evening — chatting with my best friend again. “12) Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance? 13) Who hath directed the Spirit of the LORD, or being his counsellor hath taught him? 14) With whom took he counsel, and who instructed him, and taught him in the path of judgment, and taught him knowledge, and showed to him the way of understanding?” Isaiah 40:12-14 The greatness and power and wisdom of God. Who can comprehend it?

February 14. Rained all yesterday evening and all night long (as far as we could tell since we weren’t awake the whole night, but it was raining every time either of us woke up). There wasn’t much fog this morning, however, and the clouds lifted quickly above the mountain tops. The morning was cool, and there were cool winds midday, but sunshine and a little more calmness filled the afternoon. Daddy was all packed and ready to go fairly early, but the plane did not come until after 2:00. Praise the Lord, the winds had calmed down by then as they were quite gusty earlier. Mike shared a devotional this morning in Bible class, showing how the verses in I Corinthians 15:51-53 and Philippians 3:20,21 on the rapture were an encouragement to him as he has been going through a time of sickness. He has some kind of digestive issue which flares up every so often and causes him a lot of pain. After Daddy left this afternoon, I worked a little bit on painting (added a butterfly), finished lesson plans for Monday, did a little more painting (a few flowers), started to work on the newsletter until I realized that I need my previous journal as I had just started a new one, and I don’t have an updated journal 46 on my transfer flash drive. Was hoping to get the newsletter done by the time Daddy returned. Will have to see what I can remember. I do have a copy of the January progress report on the flash drive so that will give me the last day of the meetings. Oh, yes, and December progress report should still be in the sent items. Yes, it is! Praise the Lord! Prepared and cooked up a squash for supper. While it was cooking, I heated up the rest of the rice and fish and ate that for the first course. And when the squash was done, I ate some of that. Tasted good — soft and sweet. Then I put water on for bath so I could have an early bath. It was later than I realized, however; and, when I came out of the bathroom, the phone was ringing. Ran to get the phone so I wouldn’t miss Daddy’s phone call. Oops, I had already missed several calls. Anyway, I was happy to talk to my favorite friend. There wasn’t really much to talk about this evening, but we talked about a half hour anyway. Daddy got to the guest house late (almost 5:00, I think he said) because the P2 bus driver had to go get fuel for the bus, and then another plane came in so they waited for passengers from that plane too. After we said “good night”, I put dish water on to heat and then did dishes. When dishes were done, I worked on the newsletter until the computer battery ran low. February 15. A very cool, cloudy day with a bit of rain. Rained in the wee hours of the morning, and I saw that the ground was pretty wet when the day dawned and light was shed upon it. It was about 8:00 before lotu started this morning. There were only five men present and perhaps ten women. After lotu, Sunny stayed and did some work for me — washed out about a dozen items by hand and hung them outside. (When the rains came later in the morning, I brought them in and hung them in the house.) Afterward, she washed and cut up some greens and onion, burned the trash, and swept the floors. I put a few eggs on to boil; filled the dish water kettle and the bath water kettle; made the bed; filled the filter pitcher; did a bit of sewing. After Sunny left, I worked more on the quarterly newsletter until the computer battery went low. Then I closed down the computer and put the it on to charge. Fixed my lunch and ate. Then worked on painting until nap time. Had a nice long nap and slept soundly. When I got up, I put water on to heat for washing my hair. After washing my hair, I cleaned the bathroom before turning on the computer and finishing the newsletter and writing in my journal. Time to make supper. Discovered a small amount of lentils left in their packet in the cupboard so decided to add those to some amaranth and cook that for my supper. Then I discovered the seaweed that Daddy bought several months ago and that had never been opened. Some of that would go good with the amaranth and lentils too. While the amaranth and lentils were cooking, I mashed up all the pumpkin I had cooked last night and mixed it with salt, pepper, and carrot powder. Heated a little of that up with some butter. Also added a can of tuna to the amaranth combo and enjoyed a nice supper. After supper, I tried to do the dishes, but had at least half dozen interruptions with people at the door. Finally got the dishes done, and then it was almost time for Daddy to call. Waited and waited for his call, but the phone didn’t ring. Finally Matthew came down with his phone to say that Daddy had been trying to call. So I called Daddy, and then he called me back. Don’t know how that works, but it has happened before. If I call him first, then he is able to get a connection. Enjoyed a pleasant half hour plus together by phone. “The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.” Isaiah 40:8 Praise God that His word is unchangeable and unfailing! February 12. The Lord gave us a cool morning again, but a warm late morning through the evening. Lotu started quite late, already 7:50, and there was hardly anyone there again. We found out later that a LOT of people went to town with the young people and others are in their gardens. The students said their English dialogue from memory today and did very well. Judy’s was perfect. This afternoon, I cleaned the chalkboard and worked on math lessons for the beginning of next week when Daddy will be gone. (Had gotten all tomorrow’s lesson plans written during school hours.) This evening, I practiced keyboard before youth meeting time. After bath and snack, I finished the second math lesson and then did a bunch of printing — another dialogue, the math lessons, picture to paint on the other end of the cupboard, and music lessons. (Oops, I already printed them, but forgot to cross it off my list. Oh, well, the second copies will go in the scrap paper box as the backs are still blank.) February 13. A rainy morning. Bonita came early and washed clothes, but we did not hang them outside. After she finished washing them, I let her go get ready for school. Daddy and I then hung everything in the two bathrooms, over the wood stove, and a couple things in our bedroom. Praise the Lord, there was plenty of room. We couldn’t hang anything in the schoolroom like usual as school would be in session. I was able to get backups done this morning while the students were studying independently. This afternoon, after nap, I cut Daddy’s hair. Then we had a snack before I finished lesson plans for tomorrow. This evening, I got out paints to start painting the other end of the cupboard (perhaps tomorrow), wrote an e-mail to C&C, practiced keyboard, put some files on a flash drive to use in the ACER while Daddy is gone, made some picture e-mails in Daddy’s computer for him to send to C&C when he is at SIL (the Wycliffe base). Here are some more journal notes from Mom. The latest I have are from back in February, but it is good to look back and see what the Lord has done. February 10. Another cool day, but no rain. Three of the students were sick today — Judy with a cold, Mike with his intestinal problem, and AnnaJean with her body weakness. They all did well in their lessons, however. Most of the afternoon I worked on tomorrow’s lesson plans. Also tried to fix a picture to be used in the coming newsletter, and made up a question sheet for a music lesson. This evening, I practiced keyboard; printed five more copies of Revelation, collated, and stapled them; printed more math lessons and a math test; and printed the next question sheet for a previous music lesson. “10) Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11) Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12) For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” (Ephesians 6:10-12) A needful reminder. February 11. A little rain in the wee hours of the morning. Cool again most of the day. Very busy this afternoon and evening getting lesson plans written for tomorrow, writing a couple e-mails, and doing a lot of printing, trying to make sure I have everything I need before Daddy goes to SIL and takes this computer with him. “9) And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment; 10) That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ; 11) Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.” (Philippians 1:9-11) A prayer to pray for fellow-believers. |
