October 14. A cool day with a little bit of rain in the morning and a little sunshine later. I had a little bit of time to make a smoothie after arriving at the girls’ house. Pastor Ogle continued his study in Revelation talking today about the person of the book (continued from last week). Revelation 1:2,4-8,11,17,18. Christ’s attributes: 3) His authority. He is the prince of the kings of the earth. He is their commander. He is the authority. Matthew 28:18. I Corinthians 15:24. I Peter 3:22. His authority is delegated to many different things in the book of Revelation, and all of them obey. 4) His love. Ephesians 2:4,5) A balance of love and holiness. Holiness is the reason why God must judge sin. I Peter 1:15,16. Isaiah 6:3. 6) Conqueror. He has the keys to death and hell. I Corinthians 15:55-57; Matthew 28:6 Christ’s appearance—what He looks like: Revelation 1:12-17. Daniel 7:9,13,14. The promise of the book: Revelation 1:3. A blessing is given to those who read, hear, and obey what is written in the book of Revelation. The people of the book: the seven churches. The prophet of the book: John. Twelve times John is commanded to write what he saw: 1:19; 2:1,8,12,18; etc. The plan of the book. The things which were, which are, and which shall be. In the midst of seeming chaos, God does have a plan. In between meetings, I washed up yesterday’s dishes, got a potful of carrots and napa cabbage ready to be cooked a little later, and took time to pray. In the second meeting, Pastor preached from II Peter 1:4-11. Growth and Laziness Cannot Co-Exist. You must make every effort to continue growing in your spiritual life. God’s plan: the commitment—give all diligence. It is going to take some effort to improve your spiritual life. If you don’t exercise to grow spiritually, then you will not grow spiritually. Add (abundantly supply) to your faith…. The choice: virtue = a moral choice. I choose to do right. The course: I have the knowledge to live right. The control (temperance): I need to exercise discipline to live right. The calmness: I need to be patient. Consecration: Then I need to add godliness. Cherish others: As we grow we can love those around us. Last of all charity, a sacrificial giving to meet others’ needs. You will not love properly unless you have added all the other characteristics first. Do you have a plan for your spiritual growth? The product: You will abound. You will produce fruit. You must change the root to change the fruit. If you are not growing, you are going backwards. The problem: Have you forgotten that you were purged from your old sins? Have you forgotten to focus on the eternal? The promise. If you do these things, you will never fall, never be ruined. You will be rewarded. Are you producing the fruit that God wants you to produce? As soon as the meeting was done, I started the veggies cooking. Then I crocheted until it was time to come home. After nap, I caught up on journal notes from yesterday and this morning. Then I painted until supper time and afterward too, until around 7:30. I am finding flowers to be a special challenge. This evening, we listened to a missionary message from CBC in Ocala, FL, while I was painting. Then I cleaned up my painting stuff and did the dishes. Afterward, I worked on the crocheted doily for a while. “Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.” Revelation 1:3 Reading, hearing, and obeying the things written in the book of Revelation will result in God’s blessing on our lives.

October 13. Another nice cool morning. Slept in a bit later this morning. Woke up with the heel of my foot hurting. By the time we got done shopping, the whole foot was hurting, probably because I had to support my weight on the ball of the foot. We went out a little after 8:30 to do our weekly shopping which we didn’t do on Thursday because of the heavy rain. After Lidl, we shopped at WalMart and Aldi. Then Daddy dropped me off at the house, and I started putting food away while he went on up to Verizon to pay the phone bill. It was already 11:00 when we got home. Had an early lunch and nap. When I got up from nap, I just couldn’t get motivated to do anything. I finally lay back down and zonked out for another hour. After that I felt more refreshed. Worked on the crocheted snowman and finished up the main section, adding a yogurt lid inside the bottom to help it be flat and stand up, stuffing it, and stitching up the sweater front. I didn’t realize how big it was going to be, but it has got to be at least a foot tall. Around 4:30, we went to visit Garry for a while. Then Daddy tried to call Pastor Amos, but couldn’t get any answers from him or anyone he tried to contact. We had supper, and I started crocheting one of the arms for the snowman. A little after 6:00, we headed for C&C’s house and played a game. They had only been home a short time from the craft fair. Had sold only three things and made $8 profit. But they gathered some ideas from other crafters about how to display their wares, ideas which should help them in the future. “25Then king Darius wrote unto all people, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth; Peace be multiplied unto you. 26I make a decree, That in every dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel: for he is the living God, and stedfast for ever, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed, and his dominion shall be even unto the end. 27He delivereth and rescueth, and he worketh signs and wonders in heaven and in earth, who hath delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.” Daniel 6:25-27 Because of Daniel’s faithful testimony, King Darius recognized that God was a God to be feared, that He was a living God, a God who is stedfast, eternal, all-powerful, and can do whatever He pleases in heaven and earth And he wanted all people, nations, and languages to know the God of Daniel. October 10. It was quite wet out this morning after rain during the night so I didn’t sit outside or do any walking this morning. Was thankful for some quiet moments to have my prayer time inside. Today, Daddy and I checked Philippians 3, and then I made corrections in the computer and set things up in the print file. Thank you, Lord, for your help today. The rest of my working hours today were spent searching for and setting up black and white pictures in a coloring book file. They are to go with the outreach lessons. Parts of the evening, after doing dishes, were spent working on the autumn crochet project. Missionary Bill Kiefer presented his work in Brazil and preached on I Corinthians 16:9. God opens a door. It is a great door. John 4:35-38; Mathew 9:35-38. The call is very clear. The responsibility is very great. The opposition is hateful. The great door is offered to all who will enter. II Corinthians 5:14-20. “7But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. 8Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, 9And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: 10That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death.” Philippians 3:7-10 October 11. A very rainy morning. We did not go out shopping today. With the Lord’s help, we did finish checking Philippians. That is all set up in the print file now, and we are ready to start Colossians shortly. The rest of the day, I worked at setting up coloring pages for the outreach lessons. By early afternoon, the rain was done, and the sun shone brightly. Daddy and I went out for a short walk in the sunshine around 4:00 and again after supper. A warm, gentle breeze was blowing, and it felt so good to be out in the fresh air. After our early evening walk, I made Daddy a batch of pancakes for his weekend breakfasts. Then I relaxed a while and finished as much as I could of the autumn crochet project. I just need two or three more leaves and a piece of felt to finish the project so should be able to get it done tomorrow at the girls’ house. After that I did the dishes. “14Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. 15He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. 16With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.” Psalm 91:14-16 Sweet are God’s promises! October 12. It was a chilly morning, a morning for sweaters. Too chilly to have the door open early, like we usually do, while we were getting and eating breakfast. After arriving at C&C’s house and saying good morning to Connie and Freddie, I put away our daily food in the fridge and then started the laundry. It was too chilly to sit outside this morning so had to have prayer time inside. While clothes were washing, I also picked out a few more leaves from Connie’s supply and stitched them onto the autumn craft project. Then I cut a piece of felt and glued it on the back. Took its picture and it was ready to go to the craft fair tomorrow. By then the laundry was done so I filled up the laundry basket, and Daddy and I hung out the clothes. After that, we took Connie out to Sandy’s to buy a few items that she needed. Made a stop at Dollar Tree for a few more items on the way home. By then it was lunch time. After lunch and after nap, I worked on a poster for the girls to set up at their table tomorrow at the craft fair. It has a big heart with their business name on it—Joyful Hearts Creations. This evening, I made a spiritual birthday card for a special friend. “30And Paul... received all that came in unto him, 31Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.” Acts 28:30,31.
October 8. As soon as I had finished breakfast, I started right in making the soup. Same recipe as the sweet potato and carrot soup except I used butternut squash instead of carrots. Once the soup was on cooking, Daddy and I checked the second chapter of Philippians. Then I had a little snack before getting corrections made and getting everything set up in the print file. When that was done, I put the clean sheets on the bed and put out clean towels. Then I got journal notes set up in a file for Connie. Then I made gravy to go with Daddy’s chicken and mashed potatoes and also heated up some corn for him to have with his dinner. While I was eating, I transferred a few photos to the computer and edited them. Afterwards, I put the food away and washed up a few dishes. And then I got the e-mail with journal notes and a few photos ready and sent it off to Connie. Soup was done before nap, so it was set aside to cool while we were sleeping. And right after nap, I added cream, then pureed and bottled the soup and put it in the fridge. Spent some time after that working on outreach lessons and finished a couple of those. Then we had an early supper before heading over to C&C’s house. We arrived just a few minutes before Christy got back from shopping, so had enough time to bring in the cheesecake and her gift and hide them in Connie’s room before Christy got there. Today was Christy’s spiritual birthday and we wanted to remember her salvation. After C&C got their groceries put away, the three of us ladies set out for the fairgrounds to pick up our crafts that we had exhibited. We all had prize money to pick up as well. My painting I left with the dear lady who was in charge of the painting section. She had her heart set on it ever since I brought it in and wanted to buy it. No, I did not let her buy it. It gave me more joy to just give it to her. When we got back to the house, Christy had her supper. I crocheted for a while and then did the dishes. After that, we gave Christy her gifts and we ate cheesecake. I crocheted a bit more, and then we sang some hymns together and Christy prayed. Headed back home around 9:45. “34And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation: 35And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou? 37Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.” Daniel 4:34-37 October 9. Quite a busy morning. All of yesterday’s dishes to do before we left home, since we weren’t there yesterday evening to do them. As soon as that big job was done, I fixed myself a cup of coffee (my sweet husband had made a pot of coffee for me while I was washing dishes—decaf, of course). While I was drinking that, I started getting everything together that we needed to take to C&C’s house. (Wouldn’t you know, I forgot my soup, and Daddy had to go back to the house later to get it. The freezer bag was already full too—something would have had to squeeze over.) We had errands to run so didn’t go straight to the girls’ house. Went to WalMart first to get bananas, water, and soft white yarn. Then a “quick” stop at Lowes to get a bag of gravel for the girls. Well, it should have been a quick stop, but they sent Daddy "to Timbuktu" to find the gravel. It was heavy, and the helper they promised to give him to load it in the car never showed up. Finally, another shopper who was parked near us offered to help him load it into the van. Many thanks for his kindness. We finally got to the girls’ house around 10:30. Unloaded things from the van into the house. I put away our fridge food (that’s when I realized I had forgotten my soup), and Daddy went back to the apartment for the soup. By then I was hungry so made a smoothie. Got my computer set up while I was drinking it. Since it was already late morning, we didn’t work on translation today. I used what was left of the morning to work on outreach lessons. Continued working on them in the afternoon until I finished the course. Then I started searching for pictures and setting up a file of coloring pages to go with the outreach course. This evening I did the dishes and also did some crocheting on the fall wall hanging. October 7. We were ready a little earlier than usual to head for the girls’ house this morning. That was fine, as it gave me time to make a smoothie before the first meeting started. Pastor started a series on Revelation. Introductory material to prophecy. Purposes of prophecy: 1) I Thessalonians 4:13-18—it is a comfort. 2) I John 2:28; II Peter 3:11—for the preparation of the saved. 3) II Peter 3:10—a warning to those who are not ready. 4) Titus 2:13—a hope for us. We believe the next event on God’s calendar is the rapture of the church. Following that is the seven-year tribulation. We do not believe that we will go through even part of the tribulation. The rapture is the first part of the Lord’s second coming. The second coming is His revelation. That is followed by the millennium and then the Great White Throne judgment. Two-thirds of the book of Revelation references Old Testament scriptures. We look at the entire book because of who Jesus was, is, and will be; and we must submit to Him as King of kings and Lord of lords. Chapter 1 verse 1: the purpose of the book. This book reveals truth relevant to every important fundamental of Christianity. The primary intent of the book is to prepare the way for the second coming of Jesus Christ. He revealed it to John to show His servants what is going to happen. The person of the book: chapter 1 verse 2,4-8,11,17-18—Jesus Christ. Christ is not coming as Redeemer in the book of Revelation; He is coming to execute wrath. We will see Christ as the glorified One. In between meetings, I peeled and cut up potatoes, put them in a saucepan, and covered them with water so they would be ready to start cooking later. I also put the chicken in a baking dish and seasoned it so that would be ready to pop into the oven. Then I walked and prayed and also had a little time to do crocheting. In the second meeting, Pastor continued his teaching from II Peter. II Peter 1:1-4, We have everything we need to live a life of godliness. 1) We have a precious faith. Faith is the basis of our salvation. We have the privilege of knowing the God of the universe. We have obtained like precious faith through the righteousness of God. 2) We are proxies of the Father. He has left us here so that we may speak on His behalf. It is through His will, not our own. 3) We have the power for flourishing. God’s divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness. It is His own power. He is the source of the power as well as the power. The power that created the universe is the power that is available to us, through the knowledge of Him. How well do I know God? 4) We have the promises of the Father. These are precious promises, valuable ones. By these, we can be partakers of the divine nature. We are to be like God; we are to be godly. Are you using the resources that God has given you? After the meeting, I put the potatoes on to cook. While they were cooking, I listened to hymns online and did a little more crocheting. When they were done, I mashed them and set them back on the stove. Turned off the oven, too, because the chicken was already done. When Daddy was done eating, we packed up our things and came home. Garry was outside and came over and chatted with us for a few minutes. Then we came inside and got ready for nap. After nap, I had a bowl of ice cream and then painted for a couple hours before having supper. Message by Pastor Weiss this evening, Hebrews 12:14, Pitfalls of the Christian Life. Is your Christian life authentic? Follow means to pursue as an object of desire, to endeavor to obtain. Follow peace. Follow holiness. See Ezekiel 22:26 for a definition of holiness. Positionally I am holy, but I am to live like I am holy. I have a relationship in which I am now separated from “common” things. We are to live out our separation. (He didn’t get to the pitfalls; only finished the introduction.) I also worked on the crocheted doily for a while this evening and then started a fall crochet project since I can’t work on the snowman until I get more of the right kind of yarn. “Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.” Hebrews 12:14
October 5. When we got to the girls’ house, I took the mail right out to the mailbox. Then I got out my camera and took pictures of the giant mushrooms in the front yard. After that, I went inside and put food in the fridge and then started the laundry. Sat outside and prayed until the clothes were done washing. Then I loaded them into the laundry basket and Daddy and I hung them out. When that job was done, I made and enjoyed a banana-cherry smoothie. Then I got the computer in operation and wrote an e-mail to update prayer warriors regarding our visa status. After that, with the Lord’s help, Daddy and I checked the first chapter of Philippians. I got the corrections made in the computer and then cooked a hamburger for Daddy’s dinner. Also ate my own dinner before setting up Philippians 1 in the print file and adding the English for chapter 2. This afternoon, I worked on condensing the outreach lessons and also helped Daddy take down the clothes. In the evening, I finished condensing the lessons and then wrote another couple lessons. Then I took a break and went out for some walking exercise. While I was out, I took a few pictures of mushroom village. After that, I worked on the crocheted snowman for a while until our family devotions, and again after we got back to the apartment until bedtime. “1He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.” (Psalm 91:1,2) October 6. Shortly after breakfast this morning, we went out to Lidl’s to purchase a few items that were only for weekend sale—a cheesecake, orange juice, and bananas. Also bought a bag of blue corn chips. When we got back to the apartment, Monty was just getting there with the pest control man. We let him know about the cockroaches this time, and he did a bit more thorough job of treating them. About mid-morning, we went out again, intending to meet Christy & Connie at the fair. As we were going out, one of the neighbors whom we hadn’t met previously flagged us down, wanting to meet us. His name is Garry, and he is a born again Christian. We talked with him for quite some time before we finally headed for the fair grounds. Had to park a long way from the entrance. C&C had been waiting for us for about 45 minutes. We looked around the exhibition hall, went outside to look at the chain saw carvings, came back into the exhibition hall and stopped at the Republican booth to pick up some literature, talked a bit with Ronnie Whetstine who is running for County Commissioner, then made our way back to the car. Shortly after we got home, I cooked Daddy a hamburger and then had my lunch. After nap, I sewed a button on the pocket of Daddy’s trousers and, for the rest of the afternoon, I painted. After supper, I did some crocheting of the snowman until I ran out of the right shade of white yarn. Shortly after that, we headed for C&C’s house to play a game of Boggle. “17If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. 18But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.” (Daniel 3:17,18) These three young men had obviously been brought up to know and fear God and were ready to face whatever consequences would come from standing firm for their faith.
October 3. Praise the Lord for His help this morning with checking Ephesians chapter 5 and also getting corrections made in the computer and getting things set up in the print file. Had an early lunch and an early nap. I was mostly awake from about 2:45 a.m. on so was feeling really sleepy. This afternoon, I wrote an e-mail, talked a bit with Martha on skype, wrote a note on a card for Daddy to take to church, and worked on an outreach lesson. Pastor Ogle started a series on character qualities this evening. Hebrews 2:1, attentiveness. “Give the more earnest heed” = give abundant, earnest, exceeding attention. In order to make an impact on others, you must develop the character trait of attentiveness. 1) Jesus was attentive to God the Father and to His will. Jesus wanted to do what His Father wanted. Are you attentive to God? 2) Jesus was also attentive to His earthly parents. Even on the cross, He was attentive to the needs of His mother. 4) Jesus was attentive to the needs of others. He came as a servant. He was attentive even if it meant sacrifice. He went to the cross to save others. Don’t miss the individuals who need you to pay attention to them. Right now Jesus is being attentive to us, making intercession for us before God. How attentive are you to the needs of others? 5) Lastly, Jesus was attentive to the Word of God. He fulfilled many prophecies. October 4. Shopping day. But I needed to prepare something for my breakfast first so cooked a small potful of amaranth. Also had to clean up the mess I made when I knocked the sugar bowl out of the cupboard. At least most of the sugar went into the dish drainer so it could just be washed down the drain. I think it was 8:30 or so when we finally left here to shop. Had items to buy at all three stores today—Lidl, WalMart, and Aldi.—and Daddy also stopped for gas on the way home. It was a little after 10:30 when we got home. Put away food and had a snack. Then Daddy and I started checking Ephesians 6. Worked on that until time to start dinner (oops, past time). Made cheeseburger patties and cooked a large potful of carrots and broccoli. Dinner was ready around 12:30. While I was eating my dinner, I also looked up crochet patterns for autumn/Thanksgiving items. Then I cleaned up the kitchen and we had nap. After nap, we finished checking Ephesians 6. Then I made corrections in the Efesas file and set everything up in the print file. Also got the print file ready for Philippians. Praise the Lord for helping us to complete the checking of Ephesians. This afternoon and evening, I worked on outreach lessons and later worked on the crocheted snowman. “And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it.” Psalm 90:17 This verse was a blessing to my heart this morning as I thought how the beauty of the LORD my God could be upon me to cover my own ugliness and sinfulness so that His beauty could be seen by others. And then to think that we could ask God to establish the work of our hands. Establish means to set and fix firmly or unalterably; to settle permanently. It also means to settle or fix what is wavering, doubtful, or weak. Yes, the work of our own hands may surely be wavering, doubtful, or weak, but God can take it and fix it firmly to fit His purpose.
October 1. The first day of October already. The beginning of the last quarter of the year. Whoa! Where has 2018 gone? It was Charlotte day once again. We left here a little after 8:00 so I would have time to print out a crochet pattern before we headed to Charlotte. We had to wait a while for Connie to be ready though as she had her times mixed up and thought we didn’t need to leave until 9:15. We did manage to get off a hair before 9:00 and actually made good time getting to TJ’s in spite of a larger amount of traffic than usual. We hastened to get our shopping done; and, amazingly by the time we were in the car and taking off, we had twenty minutes to make the ten-minute run to Dr. Schulman’s. It was about 11:30 when we headed home. There was a lot of traffic on the way home too. Dropped Connie off at the girls’ house, sorted out our groceries (we had purchased and bagged them all together), said good-bye, and headed for our apartment, hungry and tired. Had lunch, made bed, and had nap. This afternoon, I wrote a couple outreach lessons. Fixed a potful of carrots, onions, mushrooms, and summer squash for my supper. This evening, I crocheted more on the doily and more on the snowman, and Daddy and I went out for an evening walk and had a time of Bible reading and prayer together. October 2. Beautiful sunrise this morning. A brisk, cool morning. Fall is beginning to show its strength. As soon as we got to C&C’s house and had said good morning to Connie and Freddie, I put away our dinner and supper foods in the fridge and then made a smoothie. Sat outside to drink the smoothie and enjoy the quiet for prayer time. Borrowed a throw from Connie’s closet to wrap around my shoulders as it was a wee bit chilly out this morning. After I came back in and got my computer running, Daddy and I checked the rest of Ephesians chapter 4. Praise the Lord for His help! I also got corrections made in the computer file and then set things up in the print file. I still had time after that to get last week’s journal notes set up to send to Connie. Also transferred a few pictures to the computer and edited them so I would have pictures to send her as well. This afternoon, I picked out some greeting cards—one birthday card for Pastor Surrett, one for Sara, and a thank you card for Mary M. Wrote some notes in them and put them in Daddy’s Bible to be put in the church mailboxes tomorrow evening. Also started writing another outreach lesson. Then Jean B called, and I enjoyed a chat with her before supper. After supper, I did the dishes and crocheted. We had family time in the Word and prayer, and then we came home. I crocheted a little more and finished the snowman’s head.
September30. As soon as we got to the girls’ house this morning, I made a smoothie to drink, and then it was just about time for the first meeting to begin. In Dr. Baker’s first message today, he talked about four things you must have in order to have a good missions program. 1) a workable plan: the Great Commission. It is all laid out for us in God’s word. (Matthew 28:18-20) The plan is gigantic. We are responsible to reach every creature on earth. 2) a power that will enable us to do it: this is supplied by God. Three ways God empowers us: The Holy Spirit—Acts 1:8; the Holy Scriptures—Romans 1:16; Holy supplication (prayer) - Jeremiah 33:3) people who are willing, Matthew 9:37. People who are willing to go. People who are willing to send. People who are willing to encourage. People who are willing to give. People who are willing to pray. 4) provision (money), Philippians 4. Adult Sunday school was taught by Seth Cuthbertson, missionary candidate to the Ivory Coast. II Peter 1:1,12-15, Peter’s final will. Peter says, you need to know my God in order to have power, peace, all provisions needed to live a life of godliness, exceeding great and precious promises. Proverbs 2:1-5, we get to know our God through the word of God. Your knowledge of God should change how you live. If we don’t let the knowledge of God change the way we live, we will be barren and unfruitful. It isn’t how much we know about God, but how much our knowledge of God is changing us. Dr. Baker’s final message was based on Philippians 4:10-20, the impact that our giving has on missions. 1) it will profit the missionary—physically (clothing, food, etc.); spiritually (encouragement, rejoicing); mentally (learned to be content; had confidence that the Lord could strengthen him for any task). 2) it provides our own needs (v.19). II Corinthians 9:8—God is able to make all grace about toward YOU. If you put something in God’s hands, He will multiply it—John 6, the feeding of the 5,000. The Philippians met SOME of Paul’s needs, but God’s promise was to take care of ALL of the giver’s needs. 3) It pleases the Lord, v.17,18—well-pleasing to God. It brought forth fruit unto salvation. I had lunch and then did some crocheting and listened to hymns on youtube. After nap, I painted for a while before having supper; and after supper, I wrote another outreach lesson. The two of us went for a walk and also had sharing time and prayer together. I worked more on the crocheted doily and also started crocheting a snowman.
September 28. Slept in about twenty minutes later this morning to try to catch up on a little sleep. Just had a bowl of oatmeal with dates and cinnamon for breakfast. For some reason, it still took a while to get everything ready to go to C&C’s house. After we arrived there, I put away a few food items and put a load of clothes in the washing machine. Then I sat outside for prayer time. Had just a few minutes to get my computer going and answer an e-mail before the laundry was done and ready to be hung out. After hanging out clothes, I soaked some not-so-good-looking peaches in peroxide water for a short while. Then I dried them, cut off all the bad parts, and put what was good into a small container. Cut up a few pieces into a bowl with banana, strawberries, yogurt, and pecan pieces, and enjoyed that for morning snack. Eleven o’clock came too quickly, and I needed to prepare a meal today. I put a butternut squash into a baking dish and popped it into the oven. Then I prepared a couple chicken breasts and popped them into the oven. Put rice, salt, and water in a pan and set it on the stove to start cooking after a while. In the mean time, Daddy went off to the UPS store to see about getting our documents sent off to the PNG embassy in D.C. Praise the Lord, everything went well, and they even gave him tracking numbers for both forward and return packets. Daddy had to wait a bit after he got back before his dinner was done cooking. I finished up my soup while we were waiting. Tomorrow I’ll need to make a fresh pot of soup. This afternoon, I wrote another outreach lesson and started another. Went out and got down the rest of the clothes after supper. It took them a long time to get dry today as it was a cloudy, damp day. Did dishes early again so I would be ready for the church service this evening. The special song that Jeremy U sang for the meeting was very sobering and convicting. The song pictured people in hell and a saved person looking down from heaven and seeing those he knew in torments in hell, and wondering if he were the one who failed to tell them of Christ. Pastor Baker preached from Luke 16:19-26, a message that went so perfectly with the special music. Two people: a lost man who went to hell, and a saved man who went to paradise. The rich man’s spiritual condition—he was lost. Lazarus on the other hand had hope. They were different in many ways, but they both died. The rich man then became poor, and the poor man became rich. The rich man lived his life apart from God and he no longer has hope. There are some who have no hope because they have rejected the truth. There are some who have no hope because they have never heard. Lazarus lived for God and is now comforted and forever with the Lord. Lazarus had nothing in life but God. The rich man had everything in life but God. The rich man asked that Lazarus be sent to his father’s house to testify to his brothers so that they would not come to hell also. The rich man had two prayer requests: First, Father Abraham have mercy on me. He was praying to the wrong person at the wrong time for mercy. Secondly, he intercedes for his five lost brothers. He knew his brothers were lost and asked for Lazarus to go to them as a witness. Why did he ask for Lazarus? Why not Abraham? Because he wanted someone he knew to tell his brothers the way of salvation. Is anybody in hell calling my name tonight? If a lost man who has not experienced God’s mercy is praying for lost who are still living, how much more should I who have experienced God’s mercy be praying for the lost around me. Don’t let a dead lost man out-pray you. “27Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house: 28For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.” Luke 16:27,28 September 29. Didn’t wake up until after 6:30 this morning. I was thankful for a few minutes extra sleep as we have been getting home late every night, thus late getting to bed, and I have been getting extra tired. After breakfast, I started right in making soup, continuing my prayer time while I was preparing all the ingredients. After I had the soup on cooking, I went through my journal book and changed all the entries to a size smaller print. So now I’ll be able to fit a bit more into each journal book. Then I folded and put away my clothes that were washed yesterday, set brushes and combs to soak, and cleaned the bathroom sink and mirror. Daddy went out to Advance Auto to get a part for the car so the battery cable wouldn’t keep coming loose. In the afternoon, I started a new painting, just painting a background for what’s to come; pureed and bottled my soup; rinsed out the brushes and combs and set them aside to dry. After supper, I did the dishes, and shortly thereafter we went to C&C’s house for our weekly fun time with our daughters, playing table games. |
