October 14. A cool day with a little bit of rain in the morning and a little sunshine later. I had a little bit of time to make a smoothie after arriving at the girls’ house. Pastor Ogle continued his study in Revelation talking today about the person of the book (continued from last week). Revelation 1:2,4-8,11,17,18. Christ’s attributes: 3) His authority. He is the prince of the kings of the earth. He is their commander. He is the authority. Matthew 28:18. I Corinthians 15:24. I Peter 3:22. His authority is delegated to many different things in the book of Revelation, and all of them obey. 4) His love. Ephesians 2:4,5) A balance of love and holiness. Holiness is the reason why God must judge sin. I Peter 1:15,16. Isaiah 6:3. 6) Conqueror. He has the keys to death and hell. I Corinthians 15:55-57; Matthew 28:6 Christ’s appearance—what He looks like: Revelation 1:12-17. Daniel 7:9,13,14. The promise of the book: Revelation 1:3. A blessing is given to those who read, hear, and obey what is written in the book of Revelation. The people of the book: the seven churches. The prophet of the book: John. Twelve times John is commanded to write what he saw: 1:19; 2:1,8,12,18; etc. The plan of the book. The things which were, which are, and which shall be. In the midst of seeming chaos, God does have a plan. In between meetings, I washed up yesterday’s dishes, got a potful of carrots and napa cabbage ready to be cooked a little later, and took time to pray. In the second meeting, Pastor preached from II Peter 1:4-11. Growth and Laziness Cannot Co-Exist. You must make every effort to continue growing in your spiritual life. God’s plan: the commitment—give all diligence. It is going to take some effort to improve your spiritual life. If you don’t exercise to grow spiritually, then you will not grow spiritually. Add (abundantly supply) to your faith…. The choice: virtue = a moral choice. I choose to do right. The course: I have the knowledge to live right. The control (temperance): I need to exercise discipline to live right. The calmness: I need to be patient. Consecration: Then I need to add godliness. Cherish others: As we grow we can love those around us. Last of all charity, a sacrificial giving to meet others’ needs. You will not love properly unless you have added all the other characteristics first. Do you have a plan for your spiritual growth? The product: You will abound. You will produce fruit. You must change the root to change the fruit. If you are not growing, you are going backwards. The problem: Have you forgotten that you were purged from your old sins? Have you forgotten to focus on the eternal? The promise. If you do these things, you will never fall, never be ruined. You will be rewarded. Are you producing the fruit that God wants you to produce? As soon as the meeting was done, I started the veggies cooking. Then I crocheted until it was time to come home. After nap, I caught up on journal notes from yesterday and this morning. Then I painted until supper time and afterward too, until around 7:30. I am finding flowers to be a special challenge. This evening, we listened to a missionary message from CBC in Ocala, FL, while I was painting. Then I cleaned up my painting stuff and did the dishes. Afterward, I worked on the crocheted doily for a while. “Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.” Revelation 1:3 Reading, hearing, and obeying the things written in the book of Revelation will result in God’s blessing on our lives.
