This post is two days late. I updated the Facebook page but forgot to update here.
November 17th was Mom's birthday. She is the perfect age now -- 77. :-) We wish her a very blessed and Happy Birthday.

September 17. Daddy tried off and on today to send e-mail, and they finally all went out this afternoon. Once the connection was made, they were all gone within a few seconds, four out and four in. Sunny came at 7:00 to wash clothes, and Judy came to practice computer. After my breakfast and quiet time, I enjoyed a study in Numbers chapter 11. Then I got journal notes ready to send to C&C, and they went out with the other e-mails. After that, I worked on the “Christian Family” lessons. When Sunny was done practicing keyboard, it was already 11:00. Daddy and I went for a walk to the airstrip and walked around a bit in the middle of the airstrip but did not go up. It was quite hot out when the wind wasn’t blowing, and we could feel the heat and humidity penetrating our bodies. After we came back, we saw that it was 91º. (It is very unusual for the temperature to get that high in Owena village, which is at an altitude of around 5,000 feet.) The clothes were all dry so we took those in, then relaxed a bit until dinner time. This afternoon, I finished up lesson 1 of the Christian family lessons. The rest of the afternoon and evening was spent getting I and II Timothy set up in the print file. Praise the Lord for helping me finish those two books. September 18. I was just getting to my Bible study in Numbers when Mike came along. He stayed and visited for quite a while so I didn’t get finished with Bible study until about 11:15. The morning was cool and cloudy, and strong winds came up before the morning was over so we did not get to take a walk today. I was thankful for the Lord’s help in getting Titus and Philemon set up in the print file today. I did not do a lot of computer work because my eye has been very irritated from all the smoke and wind throughout the mountains and valleys. Early this evening, I started sketching the hollyhocks picture onto a canvas so I can start painting soon. Then I took a little nap in the recliner because I did not sleep well last night or at nap time today. “In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.” (Psalm 18:6) September 19. Praise the Lord for rain during the night. There was no sunshine during the daytime, and the fog hung around nearly all day. It was a good day to stay indoors. We did get a chance to call and talk with Christy and Connie shortly after breakfast so that made the day extra special. Again, I didn’t do much of anything on the computer except for Bible study in the morning and looking at the hollyhocks picture so I could finish the sketch on the canvas. That kind of project is not such a strain on the eyes, though, as most computer projects are. Am thankful that my eye does feel a lot better this evening. And I did do a little bit of work on the Scripture setup. This evening, Daddy and I enjoyed some time sharing Scriptures together of things the Lord has been teaching us. It was amazing how the hymns we sang, that came next in the hymn book, went along so well with what Daddy shared. September 15. A very cold morning — 52º, but it was sunny and warmed up quickly, outside anyway. It stayed chilly in the house for some time. While we were outside, Tonka and his little girl Janet came along with some greens and a small pumpkin. We were very thankful for the greens — hadn’t had any since we came back from town. There were lots of small leaves on the bunches of greens stems, and it took me 45 minutes or so to get the good ones all picked off and into the sink full of water to be cleaned. Then I let them drain in the colander for a while, and we went outside again for a little more sunshine. Then before dinner and afterward, I transferred a couple photos to the computer and fixed them up. I also tried finding Connie’s picture in my computer, but couldn’t find the one she sent to have printed. I found another picture I had taken of Connie in 2017 or 2018, and it is nice. Later I thought, the picture she sent is probably in the ACER. And that’s where it was. There was also another one there that was probably taken between 7 and 10 years ago. Daddy and I like it because she doesn’t have her hair pulled back. So we’ll have to decide which one to use or see if Connie has another without her hair pulled back. The rest of the afternoon and evening, I worked on the music lessons for SCMS and got all the answers put back in the teacher’s lessons, and made sure all the answers were not in the students’ copies. Now I need to go back through and check all the verses and make sure they are all from the current revisions. “23) Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) 24) And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works.” (Hebrews 10:23-24) September 16. Today was the 46th anniversary of PNG’s Independence Day. No special events going on in the village here. The village was relatively quiet. Praise the Lord for Wan and Amos’ work in cutting firewood this morning. And praise the Lord for helping me to finish checking, fixing, and revising the SCMS music lessons. After I finished that, I had time to go outside a while before dinner. Took the camera out and took pictures of the lilies that are coming up among the bird of paradise flowers. After dinner, I got a little start on fixing up the “Kristen Famili” (Christian Family) lessons. This will be a new course for the coming SCMS school year. Last year’s students had already had the course in Bible school, except for Dallas so I made him a copy of the teacher’s notes so he would have the answers. This afternoon, I made a popo crisp and wrote a couple short e-mails. Worked more on the “Christian Family” lessons this evening. “How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!” (Psalm 119:103) September 13. Spent most of the day fixing up the Revelation lessons by adding the answers back in the teacher’s copy. I had taken them out last school year and put blanks instead to make students’ lessons, not thinking that I may need to make other teachers’ copies for future teachers. So now I’ve kept one copy with blanks for students, and am fixing up the other copy with answers for teachers. Still have some fixing up to do and, Lord willing, will be able to finish that tomorrow. We just took a short walk this morning — walked down to see the new wind sock. I didn’t want to go too far as I had to make a meal. Started getting ingredients together for soup as soon as we got back, and the soup was ready about 12:15. Daddy still had enough spaghetti left for today, and I enjoyed a bowl of soup. Tomorrow I’ll puree the rest of the soup, and we can both enjoy soup for dinner. September 14. Judy did laundry and had computer class. Then Mike came with Lawrence and Orpah, and Nehemiah came too. Nehemiah was going to cut firewood, but he needed a helper. Mike said he would help him, but we don’t allow anyone to use the power saw when there are children around. So Nehemiah got the firewood ready for sawing, and then he helped Mike who was taking apart the cupboards in the entry way. I added the answers back in the teacher’s Revelation lessons and making sure all the answers were taken out of the students’ copy. Then I started making corrections in the music lessons and adding answers back in the teacher’s copy of that. After Judy left, Daddy and I did go for a walk part way up the airstrip. We probably could have gone all the way up, but we stopped and talked for a good while with Pastor Andru and some with Wenke. It was after we got back that Mike and Nehemiah came. Before dinner, I pureed the soup I had made yesterday, and we each enjoyed a bowlful for dinner. This evening, I printed two song books for Nehemiah to take to Pastor Okena and his wife. He is going to head out that way tomorrow morning, and is expecting Dallas to go with him. “14) Do all things without murmurings and disputings: 15) That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;” (Philippians 2:14-15 ) |
