February 19. A nice spring-like day again. It’s been a good day. Praise the Lord for His word today. This was the first day of our revival meetings with evangelist Rich Tozour. During Sunday school time, he preached from I Corinthians 3:1-11, "In Partnership with God", bringing out some of the problems with carnality and divisions in the church, then the fact that we are co-laborers with Christ. We should not be looking to a man and giving our loyalty to a man. God is the one who gives the increase, and all of us are ministers. We must give out the word, but only God can do the saving. The message given in the next morning meeting was from II Peter 1:10-21, Hearing from Heaven. Bro. Tozour brought out several examples where the disciples heard God’s voice talk to them directly from heaven. Yet, though Peter and the disciples were eye witnesses, we have something much more important and more sure than their experiences - we have the Bible. We praise the Lord for the visitors who came this morning and heard a clear presentation of the gospel. This evening, Bro. Tozour spoke on prayer, using the story of the Syro-Phoenician woman in Matthew 15 as his text. It was an excellent message with much food for thought and encouragement to continue persistent in prayer with a humble attitude. “And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.” Colossians 3:14 The most important thing to put on is charity -- agape love.

February 17. Praise the Lord for such a lovely day! Up to 72º at its peak. It was so nice to get outside. This morning, I did a load of wash, and it was in the 50’s when we hung the clothes out, but still felt good outside. This afternoon, when we brought the clothes in, it was at its peak; and then we went for a walk. We did put sweaters on when we went walking because of the wind, but ended up taking them off before we got back to the house. So refreshing to be able to open windows and doors and let fresh air in the house too. This morning, Daddy and I checked Luke 15, and we thank the Lord for His help with that, as well as with getting corrections made in the computer file and getting it set up in the print file. Also finished another ladies’ lesson and another Sunday school lesson. Please pray especially about these printed materials that we send to Owena. Some of the boxes get “lost,” and the material is so important for teaching and for their spiritual growth. Please pray that the Lord’s hand will be on these boxes, and that they will get there safely. Thanks so much! February 18. A somewhat restful day. This morning, Daddy and I spent time discussing some future plans and needs. Later I completed a couple more Sunday school lessons. Scanned some pictures and spent some time trying to work up a new presentation. Wrote a few e-mails. Spent some time in prayer this afternoon for our revival meetings starting tomorrow. “12Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; 13Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.” Colossians 3:12,13 February 15. It was good to get back to translation checking today. Daddy and I checked Luke 13 this morning. Then we went out to lunch at the Shelby Family Restaurant. Made a stop at Ginger’s Salvage on the way home. Ginger was there today, and it was good to talk with her again. After nap, I worked on the youth lessons, adding questions and application to lesson 12. Then I did up the mountain of containers and other dishes that were waiting to be washed. “13And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses….” Colossians 2:13 Praise God, He has forgiven ALL my trespasses. February 16. After writing and deleting e-mails this morning, Daddy and I checked Luke chapter 14. Then we went out to visit “R,” a former neighbor. Last month, her husband became very sick and went to the hospital. Now he is in the Nursing Home. He has metabolic encephalopathy and cannot get up and do anything for himself so needs constant care. “R” is lonely and often depressed being by herself. From “R’s” house, we went to WalMart to pick up a few groceries. Daddy stopped at Subway to get himself a sub for lunch. My lunch was potato soup. Had about an hour and a half nap this afternoon. Was pretty tired, I guess. Afterward, I made corrections on chapters 13 and 14 in the Luke file and set those two chapters up in the print file. Then I finished another Sunday school lesson before making wraps for my supper. This evening, I started setting up the next Sunday school lesson. February 13. Not as warm as yesterday, but still a very nice day. Sunny and warmer than predicted. Up to 67º here this afternoon. This morning, Daddy and I went through his January notes together and worked on January progress report. Later, I got a copy of that sent off to Pastor Ogle. Also got journal notes in order and sent off to Connie this morning and resized all the pictures I had transferred and fixed yesterday evening. This afternoon, Don C. came by and brought some translation notes. Daddy and I went for a walk (finally! Hooray!), just a short one, around one block, since it was our first walk since being sick, but it was soooooo good to get out in the sunshine and fresh air. Before supper, I revised John 20 so now have just one chapter left to revise in John. After supper, I worked more on Lait I Kamap, the history of the gospel in PNG. “In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” Colossians 2:3 None of the treasures, none of the wealth of wisdom and knowledge can be found in books or on the internet or in the schools or in seeking out and dwelling on man’s thoughts and ideas. ALL of the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are found in Christ. Only through a right relationship with Christ can we come to a full understanding of the mysteries of His word. February 14. The morning was spent doing laundry, writing e-mails, talking over some issues together, and making pizza for lunch. It was the first time I had made/eaten pizza in quite a while, and it tasted good. In the afternoon (after nap, of course), we got the clothes in and then went for a walk. The wind came up when we started on our walk so I tried to cover my neck good to keep more cold from going into my chest. After our walk, I worked on some Sunday school lessons. Then I made a pot of potato soup. “6As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: 7Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.” Colossians 2:6,7 Here is chapter three of Mom's book, The Isles Are Singing. Hope you enjoy! :-)
February 12. Like a summer day today, about 80º mid-afternoon on our thermometer out back. Still in mid-70’s when we got home from church this evening. We ALL went to church today. That was a blessing. Bette S taught Mrs. Surrett’s class today and talked about Guarded Hearts, keeping our hearts with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life. (Proverbs 4:23) Pastor Ogle completed his series on stewardship today, talking about the stewardship of our talents, using Romans 12 and I Corinthians 12 as his texts. “You must render willingly the gifts you have, to be used as God sees fit.” This evening, he used the story of Bezaleel and Aholiab from Exodus 31 as an example of stewardship of talents. “9For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; 10That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; 11Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness; 12Giving thanks unto the Father….” Colossians 1:9-12a Another prayer that we can pray for the saints in Owena. February 10. Today was clean-the-house day. We swept all the floors, washed the kitchen and dining room floors, and got ready for the exterminator to come at 11:00. Cockroaches have started to multiply in the kitchen and have really been making a nuisance of themselves, making a mad dash after our food as soon as we turn our backs even for a minute. We were thankful that our landlord was willing to take care of the problem while it was still localized, mainly concentrated around the stove and fridge in the kitchen. He put out “medicine” and glue traps which, he said, should take care of them within a couple weeks. Also did a load of wash this morning and revised John chapter 19. This afternoon, I worked on some ladies’ lessons. “6Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6,7 More of God’s powerful ALL’s and EVERY’s! February 11. A lovely day, about 74º by mid-afternoon. How nice it was to turn off the heat and open doors and windows today. About mid-morning, Daddy and I went out to do a little shopping. First to Hobby Lobby to look for some gifts. Then to WalMart to get a few groceries, look for some gift items for the pregnancy center, and to continue looking for other gifts. I was happy to see Mary M at WalMart. Stopped at Dollar General after that to look for one more thing and then found where Ginger’s Salvage Store had moved to and went by to see what there was. We didn’t get to see Ginger because she was out somewhere. This afternoon, after getting the gift ready to go tomorrow, I finished crocheting Connie’s hat. “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” Philippians 4:8 My mind must always be filled only with those things that are excellent and praiseworthy. February 8. Daddy and I went to bed just a few minutes after 9:00 last night, and didn’t get up until 6:30 this morning. We have been so tired and not much energy yet. This morning, I got the thank you letters for support into the mail and wrote three more thank you e-mails. I prepared chicken and rice for his dinner. Ate my own dinner, and worked on revising John 17. This afternoon, I had to do dishes so I will be ready to go to church tonight. This will be the first time in a couple weeks. Daddy will stay home with Connie who is not ready to go out yet. Connie was thankful today for a reply to her letter about postponing jury duty. She was supposed to go in this coming Monday, but certainly has not felt up to it. They have rescheduled her for April. Praise the Lord for that answer to prayer! “I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:14 This is the goal that I press toward, that I ensue, that I follow after - it is the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. I must not faint or become weary or look back, but I must keep my eye on the goal and obtain the heavenly prize. February 9. This morning, I transferred the missionary income file to Daddy’s computer, and we worked together recording expenditures from receipts that were on the desk from this month. I am turning that job over to Daddy as it is becoming a burden for me with all the other things I am doing. After we got that caught up, I read through the questionnaire a church had sent him and helped him make some revisions on that. Then he typed the information on the form in his computer. After putting yesterday’s chicken and rice together with some other ingredients to make a casserole and getting that into the oven, I started revising John 18. Finished that this afternoon, and also finished a lesson in Proverbs that had been started before, and got part of another Proverbs lessons done. When I needed a little break from brain work, I did a bit of crocheting. “Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.” Philippians 4:4 February 6. Praise the Lord for a better sleep last night! And what a beautiful day He gave us today! We did not go to Charlotte today. Connie was not feeling well enough so she called and changed her appointment to two weeks from today. Next week she is supposed to report for jury duty. We hope that she is either feeling much better by then or they will dismiss her. Since we didn’t go to Charlotte, Daddy and I left around 8:30 to do some shopping in Gastonia. Stopped at Neighborhood Market in KM on the way and picked up a few groceries there. Next stop was Big Lots and last was Aldi. By then it was about 11:30 and we were hungry so went to eat at Golden Corral. On the way home we made a stop at Pilot in Blacksburg to get gas. It was a tiring day for me, the first day I’ve been out any length of time in a couple weeks. I was very thankful to get home, get some of the food put away, and have a nap. Slept for about 1 1/4 hours. After nap, I rearranged things on our food shelves so I would have room to put the rest of the food away. Got journal notes fixed up and sent off to Connie. Today I also started on a liver cleanse which I’m hoping will help with some of my digestive issues. February 7. Thankful for another warm day that the Lord gave us. It was another busy day too. After breakfast, I did a load of laundry. Then I got busy making soup so I could get that done before we went out and would have something for lunch when we got back. We had to go to WalMart to get a few things we didn’t get yesterday. Also stopped at Verizon to pay the phone bill and went to GNC to pick up a couple supplements for Connie. Then to Mighty Dollar to look for some spices we’d been wanting (found chives but not marjoram) and some anniversary and birthday cards. Finally made it to WalMart, picked up the items we needed, and headed home, ready for a hot cup of soup and an afternoon nap to refresh the body. After nap, I brought in clothes, folded a few clothes that were washed the other day, revised John 16, printed a few thank you letters for supporters and sent a few others via e-mail. “That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death.” Philippians 3:10 Three things I desire to know: Him (Jesus Christ), the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings. I can know these things as I am made conformable to His death, although I’m not sure I understand the full meaning of that conformity. February 5. Sunday. Thankful for a better sleep last night. And for a nice warm and sunny day today. It was a nice day for relaxing and listening to the Word. Got the shopping list made for our trip to Charlotte tomorrow, if Connie feels up to going. She has one thing and another that keeps coming up and setting her back physically. Christy went to church by herself today. Daddy, Connie, and I listened livestream. The message this morning was from I Timothy 6, dealing with Stewardship of Our Treasures or Goods -- Respond Abundantly. This evening’s message was a continuation of the same topic, using the story of Nabal in I Samuel chapter 25. Pastor Ogle started the teaching on stewardship the middle of January, the first Sunday Daddy was home, and this is the second point in his messages. The first was Stewardship of Trust. After nap today, I revised chapter 15 of John and did a little crocheting. Didn’t really feel up to doing much. “14Do all things without murmurings and disputings: 15That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; 16Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.” Philippians 2:14-16 I am commanded to do ALL things without grumbling and without discussion. Just obey! This is not only to please God, but that I may have an irreproachable and harmless testimony in the eyes of this crooked and corrupt generation. I am to shine as a light so that I might give them the word of life, and so that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, knowing that neither the race nor the labour has been in vain. |
