October 3. Praise the Lord for His help this morning with checking Ephesians chapter 5 and also getting corrections made in the computer and getting things set up in the print file. Had an early lunch and an early nap. I was mostly awake from about 2:45 a.m. on so was feeling really sleepy. This afternoon, I wrote an e-mail, talked a bit with Martha on skype, wrote a note on a card for Daddy to take to church, and worked on an outreach lesson. Pastor Ogle started a series on character qualities this evening. Hebrews 2:1, attentiveness. “Give the more earnest heed” = give abundant, earnest, exceeding attention. In order to make an impact on others, you must develop the character trait of attentiveness. 1) Jesus was attentive to God the Father and to His will. Jesus wanted to do what His Father wanted. Are you attentive to God? 2) Jesus was also attentive to His earthly parents. Even on the cross, He was attentive to the needs of His mother. 4) Jesus was attentive to the needs of others. He came as a servant. He was attentive even if it meant sacrifice. He went to the cross to save others. Don’t miss the individuals who need you to pay attention to them. Right now Jesus is being attentive to us, making intercession for us before God. How attentive are you to the needs of others? 5) Lastly, Jesus was attentive to the Word of God. He fulfilled many prophecies. October 4. Shopping day. But I needed to prepare something for my breakfast first so cooked a small potful of amaranth. Also had to clean up the mess I made when I knocked the sugar bowl out of the cupboard. At least most of the sugar went into the dish drainer so it could just be washed down the drain. I think it was 8:30 or so when we finally left here to shop. Had items to buy at all three stores today—Lidl, WalMart, and Aldi.—and Daddy also stopped for gas on the way home. It was a little after 10:30 when we got home. Put away food and had a snack. Then Daddy and I started checking Ephesians 6. Worked on that until time to start dinner (oops, past time). Made cheeseburger patties and cooked a large potful of carrots and broccoli. Dinner was ready around 12:30. While I was eating my dinner, I also looked up crochet patterns for autumn/Thanksgiving items. Then I cleaned up the kitchen and we had nap. After nap, we finished checking Ephesians 6. Then I made corrections in the Efesas file and set everything up in the print file. Also got the print file ready for Philippians. Praise the Lord for helping us to complete the checking of Ephesians. This afternoon and evening, I worked on outreach lessons and later worked on the crocheted snowman. “And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it.” Psalm 90:17 This verse was a blessing to my heart this morning as I thought how the beauty of the LORD my God could be upon me to cover my own ugliness and sinfulness so that His beauty could be seen by others. And then to think that we could ask God to establish the work of our hands. Establish means to set and fix firmly or unalterably; to settle permanently. It also means to settle or fix what is wavering, doubtful, or weak. Yes, the work of our own hands may surely be wavering, doubtful, or weak, but God can take it and fix it firmly to fit His purpose.
