October 5. When we got to the girls’ house, I took the mail right out to the mailbox. Then I got out my camera and took pictures of the giant mushrooms in the front yard. After that, I went inside and put food in the fridge and then started the laundry. Sat outside and prayed until the clothes were done washing. Then I loaded them into the laundry basket and Daddy and I hung them out. When that job was done, I made and enjoyed a banana-cherry smoothie. Then I got the computer in operation and wrote an e-mail to update prayer warriors regarding our visa status. After that, with the Lord’s help, Daddy and I checked the first chapter of Philippians. I got the corrections made in the computer and then cooked a hamburger for Daddy’s dinner. Also ate my own dinner before setting up Philippians 1 in the print file and adding the English for chapter 2. This afternoon, I worked on condensing the outreach lessons and also helped Daddy take down the clothes. In the evening, I finished condensing the lessons and then wrote another couple lessons. Then I took a break and went out for some walking exercise. While I was out, I took a few pictures of mushroom village. After that, I worked on the crocheted snowman for a while until our family devotions, and again after we got back to the apartment until bedtime. “1He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.” (Psalm 91:1,2) October 6. Shortly after breakfast this morning, we went out to Lidl’s to purchase a few items that were only for weekend sale—a cheesecake, orange juice, and bananas. Also bought a bag of blue corn chips. When we got back to the apartment, Monty was just getting there with the pest control man. We let him know about the cockroaches this time, and he did a bit more thorough job of treating them. About mid-morning, we went out again, intending to meet Christy & Connie at the fair. As we were going out, one of the neighbors whom we hadn’t met previously flagged us down, wanting to meet us. His name is Garry, and he is a born again Christian. We talked with him for quite some time before we finally headed for the fair grounds. Had to park a long way from the entrance. C&C had been waiting for us for about 45 minutes. We looked around the exhibition hall, went outside to look at the chain saw carvings, came back into the exhibition hall and stopped at the Republican booth to pick up some literature, talked a bit with Ronnie Whetstine who is running for County Commissioner, then made our way back to the car. Shortly after we got home, I cooked Daddy a hamburger and then had my lunch. After nap, I sewed a button on the pocket of Daddy’s trousers and, for the rest of the afternoon, I painted. After supper, I did some crocheting of the snowman until I ran out of the right shade of white yarn. Shortly after that, we headed for C&C’s house to play a game of Boggle. “17If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. 18But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.” (Daniel 3:17,18) These three young men had obviously been brought up to know and fear God and were ready to face whatever consequences would come from standing firm for their faith.
