September30. As soon as we got to the girls’ house this morning, I made a smoothie to drink, and then it was just about time for the first meeting to begin. In Dr. Baker’s first message today, he talked about four things you must have in order to have a good missions program. 1) a workable plan: the Great Commission. It is all laid out for us in God’s word. (Matthew 28:18-20) The plan is gigantic. We are responsible to reach every creature on earth. 2) a power that will enable us to do it: this is supplied by God. Three ways God empowers us: The Holy Spirit—Acts 1:8; the Holy Scriptures—Romans 1:16; Holy supplication (prayer) - Jeremiah 33:3) people who are willing, Matthew 9:37. People who are willing to go. People who are willing to send. People who are willing to encourage. People who are willing to give. People who are willing to pray. 4) provision (money), Philippians 4. Adult Sunday school was taught by Seth Cuthbertson, missionary candidate to the Ivory Coast. II Peter 1:1,12-15, Peter’s final will. Peter says, you need to know my God in order to have power, peace, all provisions needed to live a life of godliness, exceeding great and precious promises. Proverbs 2:1-5, we get to know our God through the word of God. Your knowledge of God should change how you live. If we don’t let the knowledge of God change the way we live, we will be barren and unfruitful. It isn’t how much we know about God, but how much our knowledge of God is changing us. Dr. Baker’s final message was based on Philippians 4:10-20, the impact that our giving has on missions. 1) it will profit the missionary—physically (clothing, food, etc.); spiritually (encouragement, rejoicing); mentally (learned to be content; had confidence that the Lord could strengthen him for any task). 2) it provides our own needs (v.19). II Corinthians 9:8—God is able to make all grace about toward YOU. If you put something in God’s hands, He will multiply it—John 6, the feeding of the 5,000. The Philippians met SOME of Paul’s needs, but God’s promise was to take care of ALL of the giver’s needs. 3) It pleases the Lord, v.17,18—well-pleasing to God. It brought forth fruit unto salvation. I had lunch and then did some crocheting and listened to hymns on youtube. After nap, I painted for a while before having supper; and after supper, I wrote another outreach lesson. The two of us went for a walk and also had sharing time and prayer together. I worked more on the crocheted doily and also started crocheting a snowman.
