October 8. As soon as I had finished breakfast, I started right in making the soup. Same recipe as the sweet potato and carrot soup except I used butternut squash instead of carrots. Once the soup was on cooking, Daddy and I checked the second chapter of Philippians. Then I had a little snack before getting corrections made and getting everything set up in the print file. When that was done, I put the clean sheets on the bed and put out clean towels. Then I got journal notes set up in a file for Connie. Then I made gravy to go with Daddy’s chicken and mashed potatoes and also heated up some corn for him to have with his dinner. While I was eating, I transferred a few photos to the computer and edited them. Afterwards, I put the food away and washed up a few dishes. And then I got the e-mail with journal notes and a few photos ready and sent it off to Connie. Soup was done before nap, so it was set aside to cool while we were sleeping. And right after nap, I added cream, then pureed and bottled the soup and put it in the fridge. Spent some time after that working on outreach lessons and finished a couple of those. Then we had an early supper before heading over to C&C’s house. We arrived just a few minutes before Christy got back from shopping, so had enough time to bring in the cheesecake and her gift and hide them in Connie’s room before Christy got there. Today was Christy’s spiritual birthday and we wanted to remember her salvation. After C&C got their groceries put away, the three of us ladies set out for the fairgrounds to pick up our crafts that we had exhibited. We all had prize money to pick up as well. My painting I left with the dear lady who was in charge of the painting section. She had her heart set on it ever since I brought it in and wanted to buy it. No, I did not let her buy it. It gave me more joy to just give it to her. When we got back to the house, Christy had her supper. I crocheted for a while and then did the dishes. After that, we gave Christy her gifts and we ate cheesecake. I crocheted a bit more, and then we sang some hymns together and Christy prayed. Headed back home around 9:45. “34And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation: 35And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou? 37Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.” Daniel 4:34-37 October 9. Quite a busy morning. All of yesterday’s dishes to do before we left home, since we weren’t there yesterday evening to do them. As soon as that big job was done, I fixed myself a cup of coffee (my sweet husband had made a pot of coffee for me while I was washing dishes—decaf, of course). While I was drinking that, I started getting everything together that we needed to take to C&C’s house. (Wouldn’t you know, I forgot my soup, and Daddy had to go back to the house later to get it. The freezer bag was already full too—something would have had to squeeze over.) We had errands to run so didn’t go straight to the girls’ house. Went to WalMart first to get bananas, water, and soft white yarn. Then a “quick” stop at Lowes to get a bag of gravel for the girls. Well, it should have been a quick stop, but they sent Daddy "to Timbuktu" to find the gravel. It was heavy, and the helper they promised to give him to load it in the car never showed up. Finally, another shopper who was parked near us offered to help him load it into the van. Many thanks for his kindness. We finally got to the girls’ house around 10:30. Unloaded things from the van into the house. I put away our fridge food (that’s when I realized I had forgotten my soup), and Daddy went back to the apartment for the soup. By then I was hungry so made a smoothie. Got my computer set up while I was drinking it. Since it was already late morning, we didn’t work on translation today. I used what was left of the morning to work on outreach lessons. Continued working on them in the afternoon until I finished the course. Then I started searching for pictures and setting up a file of coloring pages to go with the outreach course. This evening I did the dishes and also did some crocheting on the fall wall hanging.
