May 11. Another birthday for Christy. Thank you, Lord, for our special daughter. Woke up this morning to a lovely pink and blue sky. Praise the Lord for strength for a busy morning. Two loads of wash to do again. Sheets and towels in the first load, so those went into the dryer. Then I could get the bed made before we left the house. Packed up a bunch of stuff to take to C&C’s. Went back into the house a couple times before we took off—Daddy to get his coffee and I to get my outdoor shoes so I could help hang out the clothes today since Daddy had to hurry to get to Dr. Cook’s by 10:00. I knew grass would be wet after the rain last night and also didn’t want to track mown grass into the house since Bro. Joe would be there to mow. Finally headed out of the driveway at 9:01. Bro. Joe wasn’t there yet when we arrived, and we didn’t want to hang clothes until he mowed the back yard. Took things inside that we had brought with us. Said good morning to Connie. Got the fridge food put away. It was about 8:40 or so when Joe arrived. Daddy talked with him a few minutes and then headed out to see the doc. I made myself a smoothie before going out to hang the clothes. After I came back in, I sent out an e-mail to our prayer warriors asking them to pray for Bro. Gray’s trip into Moresby on Monday. Then I made a key lime pie (without the "key") for Christy’s birthday dessert. And last of all, I got the April progress report written for Pastor Ogle. Sent that off after nap. Christy was already home when I got up from nap. She had actually been here for an hour already, having arrived right after we lay down. In the evening, we discussed plans for the ladies’ luncheon and the open house. “44And the LORD gave them rest round about, according to all that he sware unto their fathers: and there stood not a man of all their enemies before them; the LORD delivered all their enemies into their hand. 45There failed not ought of any good thing which the LORD had spoken unto the house of Israel; all came to pass.” Joshua 21:44,45 How faithful our God is! He always keeps all His promises. Who else is worthy of our honor and obedience? May 12. It was a little before 9:00 when we left the house this morning. Had some errands to run before getting to the girls’ place -- off to WM first to get yogurt and water. Also picked out a skein of yarn to so I can start making a doily for Jane, and some sewing machine needles for Connie. From there, we cut across Main St. and Country Club Rd. to Marion and went to Dollar Tree. Picked out some patriotic flowers for the two vases that are on the front porch, and a paint brush to paint the back of the white bookshelf. Last stop was Family Dollar to look for picture hanging hardware. Found that, and also found a set of paintbrushes for a good price so bought that too. Off to the girls’ house at last. It was already after 10:30 when we got here. Christy had already started sorting stuff in her bedroom. I arranged the flowers in the vases before going to help Christy. Worked the rest of the morning and a couple hours in the afternoon on her room. We were thankful to get quite a bit done in there today. This evening, I found recipes for butternut squash soup, homemade sausage, biscuits, and lime pudding. “But take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law, which Moses the servant of the LORD charged you, to love the LORD your God, and to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and to cleave unto him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.” Joshua 22:5
