May 20. Got up around 4:45 this morning to take some cranberry and some white willow for my back. Was able to relax better after that. The night was nearly gone, however, and a little over an hour later, I was up to take a shower and wash my hair. Dr. Tom Wallace was at EBC today; and in the early meeting, he shared with the church his burden for the Muslims, and particularly for some Syrian refugees who are to be settled in the Charlotte area. He told of ways that we could help reach them with the Gospel if opportunity were afforded us (that is, through ESL, helping them prepare for GED, and I forget what the third things is). Through those things, we can also teach the Bible. He also told of a successful way to share the good news with them. In between meetings, I was able to have more prayer time and also put a third coat of paint on the back of the white bookshelf. In the second meeting, Pastor Ogle preached from I Peter 3:18-22, The Deliverance in Christ.” The real goal of this text is to tell us that we can be triumphant even in difficult days because Christ. has defeated the enemy. “You must realize that no matter what you go through and how dark it looks now, Jesus is victorious and so are you.” Daddy and the girls were late getting home. They went to South Carolina to get gas, and the pump gave Daddy some trouble which slowed him down. Consequently, it was 2:30 before we got to nap. After nap, I finished crocheting my loofah. Had to borrow a bit of leftover yarn from Connie to finish it up, so it is finished with a different color and not so soft a yarn. But it’s just for myself to use so it doesn’t matter. Fixed lamb patties for supper and delighted in a lamb patty sandwich. This evening, we listened to an excellent sermon by Pastor Weiss entitled “Boldness to Enter,” based on Hebrews 4:16, Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. “O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee….” Psalm 63:1a How I look forward to seeking God early in the morning! And how I need that time alone with Him!
