August 1. It was a dark, cloudy morning, and the Lord sent us a little morning rain. Morning seemed like non-stop, although I did get a couple chances to sit down a few minutes. As soon as I finished breakfast and quiet time, I was going to start making soup, but an e-mail came in which needed to be answered right away. As soon as I had answered it, I made revisions in some parts in a tract that we are hoping to have printed. That’s what the e-mail was about. Once that was done, I started on the soup. Made soup in a large pot on the stove this time, as there wasn’t time to wait for it to cook in the crock pot and then be able to get it whipped up and put away too. While it cooked, I fixed a bowlful of fruit and yogurt and sat down to eat that. When the soup was done, I added a couple cans of organic black beans and left the soup to cool a while. In the mean time, I got a vitamin order made up and also made up the weekly shopping list. By then it was time to fix dinner for Daddy. Used leftover spaghetti and sauce and added sour cream, shredded cheese, and herbs to make a spaghetti “lasagna.” I had cooked some veggies yesterday evening so didn’t need to cook another veggie for dinner. While his dinner was in the oven baking, I added some cream to the soup, got out some jars and the blender, and went to work pureeing the soup and getting it ready to go in the refrigerator. Then I finished up the old batch of soup for my lunch. While I was waiting for Daddy to have his lunch, I got my little bilum cleaned out so I could put my Bible and a couple little things in it to take to church tonight. Since a couple situations have changed, I’ll see how it will work out to start going again. I was very glad when nap time came around and was thankful for a good nap. Daddy was on the phone a good part of the morning with a Microsoft rep, trying to figure out why all his publisher files wouldn’t open. I guess they got that problem solved. (Well, maybe not completely.) This afternoon, I did have a little time to work on outreach lessons for one of the MTP courses. Then I had a bite to eat before doing up the mountain of dishes that was at the sink. When dishes were done, I had another bite to eat and then washed up a bit and put on a clean blouse for church. Had a few minutes left to sit down and relax before time to leave. Jordan Good preached this evening since Pastor & Mrs. Ogle are away. He preached a good message on “Are People Lost Who Have Never Heard the Gospel?” “18Then went king David in, and sat before the LORD, and he said, Who am I, O Lord GOD? and what is my house, that thou hast brought me hitherto? 19And this was yet a small thing in thy sight, O Lord GOD; but thou hast spoken also of thy servant's house for a great while to come. And is this the manner of man, O Lord GOD? 20And what can David say more unto thee? for thou, Lord GOD, knowest thy servant. 21For thy word's sake, and according to thine own heart, hast thou done all these great things, to make thy servant know them. 22Wherefore thou art great, O LORD God: for there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.” II Samuel 7:18-22 I’d like to copy here F.B. Meyer’s notes: It was then God’s turn to pour out a perfect avalanche of blessing, which must have made David forget those weary years of waiting and wandering. Do not be anxious about the future. Use your life and all its resources for God, and he will care for you. No tongue can exaggerate the goodness and mercy which God lays up for them that trust in Him before the sons of men. And it is because He loves that He does not hesitate to chasten. August 2. Out before 8:30 to do shopping—three stops again. Thankful to get back home by about 10:30. Put food away. Make smoothie to curb hunger. Work on the outreach lessons for MTP. Have lunch. Search for pictures for the presentation. Have nap. More work on outreach lessons. More searching for pictures. Take a little stretch outside and watch the bright skies in the east, the dark skies in the west, and the stillness and quietness in the trees. All birds in hiding. We had only been back inside a few minutes when the wind began stirring in the trees, more and more intense until the big rain began to fall. It rained quite hard for a while and then continued to rain more gently for some time. (It also rained very heavily on the way to church Wednesday night (see pictures above) Ate supper. Washed up the heap of dirty dishes. Daddy kindly dried a few for me so I would have room for the rest in the drainer. “And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.” Acts 7:60 Stephen was a man who had the forgiving heart of God. Do I?

July 30. It’s been a mostly cloudy day. Enjoyed the cool air early this morning for prayer time and walking. Then I wrote a couple e-mails and deleted some others. The second half of the morning, Daddy and I checked I Corinthians 3 and 4. It took a while to get through the snags, but we are truly thankful for the Lord’s help in making decisions and finishing those two chapters. By then it was noon, and Daddy went off to Subway for lunch. I heated up a cupful of soup and drank that while I made corrections in Corinthians and got things set up in the print file. Much of the afternoon and evening was spent searching for public domain pictures to use in the presentation that Connie wants to put on the web. “And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.” Acts 5:32 The apostles were eye-witnesses of the death, burial, resurrection, and ascension of the Lord Jesus. And so also is the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him. Therefore, since the Holy Ghost has been given to us, He witnesses through us who have trusted in Christ as our Lord and Savior. July 31. It looked like it was going to be a rainy morning, and rain was predicted so we put the wash in the dryer this morning and hung a few items around the house to dry. Enjoyed sitting out in the fresh morning air to pray, and also had some good walking exercise before coming in to work at the computer. The first hour was spent on finding more photos to replace some of those I had in our ministry presentation. The second hour or less, Daddy and I checked over I Corinthians 5 and 6. Praise the Lord for His grace and wisdom! Then Daddy took Connie to Dollar Tree while I made up the bed (washed just the bottom sheet again today). And the rest of the third hour was spent making corrections for the two chapters of I Corinthians that we checked over, then setting them up in the print file, and also adding the English for chapter 7. This afternoon, I worked more on finding pictures, but it didn’t turn out to be too profitable.
July 29. Preaching in the first meeting this morning was The Story of Joseph: He Must Increase; I Must Decrease. Genesis 37ff. Joseph knew how to set himself aside. “Even when life seems to be completely unfair, you must look to God.” 1) 37:12-14, Joseph obeyed without question. 2) 37:15-17, Joseph went beyond what was asked. See chapter 41:48,49. 3) 39:1-4, Joseph did his best regardless of the circumstances. 4) 39:7ff, Joseph resisted temptation. 5) 39:9, Joseph kept his relationship with the Lord as his priority. 6) 40:1-8, Joseph was conscious of others’ difficulties rather than his own. Joseph used his problems to serve others, whereas we often use our problems to get served. 7) 40:8; 41:16, Joseph was willing to give God the glory. 8) 41:55-57, Joseph was conscious of others’ needs even in his delight. Joseph also used his power to serve others. 9) 45, Joseph was focused on the Savior and not on himself, and was willing to forgive others. 10) 50:19-21, Joseph invested in others who had wronged him. 11) 50:20, Joseph recognized that even in horrid circumstances, you can be used by God. 12) 50:24,25, Joseph looked at the promises of God by faith. The text for the second meeting was I Peter 5:7, We must not worry about anything because God is in control. Part of our humility is casting our care upon Him. Part of our pride is thinking that we are in control and can handle things ourselves. Casting = throw upon. Casting ALL—confident reliance on God’s goodness, with exemption from care. Care = anxiety; those things that would be a distraction or would divide our heart. Matthew 6:25-34. Careth = the kind of care that comes from having an interest in someone, and that includes forethought, and the one who cares can do something about it. Are you too proud to let God handle your anxieties and cares? After nap this afternoon, I did painting again until supper time. This evening, after I did dishes, we listened to last Sunday morning’s sermon on Spiritual Warfare. I also did more crocheting.
July 27. The Lord gave us a lovely morning, a beautiful morning for sitting outside to pray, for taking a little walking exercise, and for hanging out clothes. After we got the second load of laundry hung out and I read and prayed over a couple e-mails, the Lord enabled Daddy and me to check over the first two chapters of I Corinthians This afternoon, I got them set up in the print file, as well as the English for chapter 3. Then I got the bed remade (since we had washed the sheets) and hung up other clothes that had been washed. After that, I worked on the outreach lessons again for MTP. This evening, I spent some time painting. “Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.” Acts 4:13 Oh, that our lives might be such that people take knowledge of us, that we have been with Jesus! July 28. It was a nice, cool morning to sit outside and pray, and then walk several laps around the driveway. The day soon warmed up, however; but the Lord gave us a pretty, sunny day. This morning, I took the time to back up all the files that hadn’t been backed up for a couple months. Later in the morning, the girls went to market and Dollar Tree, and Daddy and I were able to have some time together. Zonked out at nap time today and slept for an hour and a half. When I woke up, I wondered why it was so light outside already. Oh, yes, it’s not morning. It’s afternoon. After I got up, I did painting until supper time. This evening after Christy washed the dishes, we all played a couple games of Skip-Bo together as a family.
July 25. Had to get busy cooking right away this morning. First was a potful of mushrooms and summer squash. While that was cooking, I reviewed memory verses. Ate a bowlful of mushrooms and squash and finished reviewing verses. Then I put a pot of oatmeal on to cook, and read my morning Scripture while it was cooking. When it was done, I sat outside for some prayer time. Then came back in and got a bowlful of oatmeal to eat while I finished prayer time. Came in and put away the veggies and the oatmeal and put on my walking shoes so I could do a few laps around the driveway. After getting the computer booted up, I made some additions to the Soul-winning file I worked on yesterday. Then Daddy and I finished checking Romans. There were several sticky places, but praise the Lord for helping us to bring that part of the project to completion. After that, Daddy went off to Gaffney to pick up the girls’ milk; and I got the rest of Romans set up in the print file and got the introductory page ready for I Corinthians. Not long after Daddy left, the septic pump service came and pumped out the septic tank. It didn’t take them long to find it as Connie showed them approximately where we had seen thicker grass growing after a rain. We are thankful to have that job done. It was after 1:00 when Daddy got home, and almost 2:00 before we had nap. After nap, I made the shopping list for tomorrow. Then I worked on MTP course 1. The Lord sent us quite a rain this afternoon too. It poured down out of the sky in buckets for quite some time. We are thankful for a good rain. “1Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. 2Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness. 3Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.” Isaiah 55:1-3 Four times in these three verses, God says “come.” The invitation is for EVERY ONE who is thirsty. The promise for those who come is life and satisfaction. July 26. Shopping day. We were thankful to get out early and get back before the day got too hot. Had three stops to make today, but we were still back in a couple hours’ time. After getting food put away, I worked on MTP course 1 until a little before noon. Then Daddy and I went out to Golden Corral for lunch. After nap, I finished up the MTP lesson for course 1 and worked on course 2. Also worked on it a bit in the evening. “Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.” Acts 3:26 What a great blessing God has given to us through the resurrection of His Son Jesus! Salvation! Turning away every one of us from our iniquities, from our sin and depravity. July 23. After breakfast and quiet time this morning, I started making soup. And after I got the soup on cooking, Daddy and I were able to check Romans chapters 12 and 13. Praise the Lord for His special help with the task. I was also able to get corrections made for both chapters (praise the Lord there were only a couple corrections to make) and get them set up in the print file. Also added English for chapters 13 and 14 to the print file. This afternoon and evening, I worked on the MTP (Missionary Training Program) course on soul-winning. “17Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee: 18Thou shewest lovingkindness unto thousands, and recompensest the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them: the Great, the Mighty God, the LORD of hosts, is his name, 19Great in counsel, and mighty in work: for thine eyes are open upon all the ways of the sons of men: to give every one according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings…. 26Then came the word of the LORD unto Jeremiah, saying, 27Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?” Jeremiah 32:17-19,26,27 Jeremiah had confidence that nothing was too hard for the LORD. He knew how great and powerful and kind and loving GOD was. He knew that the LORD could see and know everything, that nothing was hid from God’s eyes. However, the LORD still reminded Jeremiah so that Jeremiah would not forget. “Is there any thing too hard for me?” Even though we often know something is true, I am thankful that God often reminds us and confirms those truths to our hearts so we don’t forget them.
July 24. The morning was dark. Looked like it had rained during the night—the driveway was wet, and the skies were still cloudy. The Lord sent us sunshine around midday; and early this evening, there was quite a lengthy sun shower. So pretty. Had breakfast and quiet time. Daddy went off to WalMart to get the oil changed and make a couple other purchases. After sitting out in the fresh air for a while for more prayer time, I came in and started the wash. While clothes were washing, I got busy cleaning the refrigerator. It was long past due for a cleaning, especially the veggie bins and underneath. I feel much happier now about putting my food in the bins. Also cleaned out a couple food items and made space for the girls’ raw milk which Daddy will get tomorrow. Daddy got home in time to help hang out clothes. Then, after a little break, we got busy checking Romans. The Lord enabled us to complete chapter 14 and check half of 15. Then I went and got chicken ready to go into the oven for dinner before making corrections for the portions we had checked, setting up chapter 14 in the print file, and adding English for chapter 15. Will wait until we have completed checking chapter 15 before adding the Pidgin. After nap, I got last week’s journal notes ready and sent them off to Connie. Then I finished up the MTP course on Soul-winning. My, what a stack of dishes there was to wash this evening! I was thankful for Daddy’s help in drying a good portion of them. “2Thus saith the LORD the maker thereof, the LORD that formed it, to establish it; the LORD is his name; 3Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.” Jeremiah 33:2,3 Truly God knows all our needs and the desires of our hearts, but yet He desires that we call unto Him and talk with Him. He has promised not only to answer us, but to show us great and mighty things which we don’t even know about or haven’t even considered. The LORD who made the earth, who formed it, who established it, He is the one who will hear and answer our prayers. |
