January 5. Sixteenth day of winter. So cold! But so thankful not to have gotten the bad snow that made its way up the east coast. Got a late start this morning. It was just too cold to get out of bed. Didn’t even have breakfast until well after 9:00. Couldn’t find a good place to sit for quiet time. Much too cold in the bedroom. Eyes hurt too much in the rooms where the heat was blowing. Finally ended up in the office close to the doorway of the kitchen (which has only a small space heater), as far away as I could get from the heat. After quiet time, I cooked some veggies to go with my rice. Put a load of clothes in to wash. We did not hang them out today, although Daddy took a few of the things that we hung in the house and hung them outside in the afternoon. Daddy and I checked the first half of John 13 while clothes were washing, and I did a little crocheting while we were checking. Praise the Lord for warm sunshine this afternoon and the temperature going up to 35º. We even felt the warmth in the house for a while this afternoon. Finished checking John 13 after nap and did a little more crocheting. Finished one leg for the doll and part of another. I also got corrections made on chapter 13 and added it to the print file. Also added chapter 14 in English so it is ready whenever we check chapter 14 Pidgin. This evening, I finished the doll's legs, dress, and face. Now I just need to make her some hair and she will be done, ready for the baby shower on Sunday. The little doll will go to the baby’s big sister. “So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever: we will shew forth thy praise to all generations.” Psalm 79:13 May this be our desire and purpose of heart. January 6. Seventeenth day of winter. Another icy cold morning, but sunshine to brighten the day. Today I worked mostly on the doll. Had to get it finished and ready for tomorrow. I did cook some chicken for Daddy’s dinner today, which he had with leftover rice and veggies. At 11:30, we went out to meet Beth and look at a house. We were there about an hour and a half, looking at the house and talking with Beth. It’s a pretty nice house — has lots of room and even has a backup gas generator. There are several other houses we would like to look at and then perhaps come back to this one, depending on which one Christy and Connie think they’ll like best and will be most suitable for their needs. It was after 1:00 when we got back to the house and had lunch, and after 2:00 before we got to nap. It was almost 4:00 before I got up from nap. Had a smoothie and got busy finishing up the dolly, taking pictures, and wrapping the gifts for the shower tomorrow. Had almost forgotten about supper. It was 7:00 before I finally had my supper fixed and sat down to eat. This evening, I transferred pictures to the computer and edited them so they are ready to send to Connie on Monday with journal notes. Also looked for crochet patterns for my next project.
