June 8. It was a crazy, dizzy (er, that is, busy) morning. Go, go, go from the time I got up. Shower and wash hair. Gather up my towels and sheets, grab the handle of the hamper, and haul those out to the laundry room. Put a load of clothes into the washing machine and start the washer. Fix a drink and go sit down briefly for quiet time. Back to the kitchen to put amaranth on to cook for breakfast and to cook up the ground turkey so I could eat a little and take some over to the girls’ house to make a gravy to go with it for Daddy’s dinner. Fix another drink and sit down a few more minutes while food was cooking. Get clothes out of washer and put them in laundry basket to take to girls’ house to hang out back, except for bedding which went into the dryer. Decided to warm up part of my green soup and add some amaranth to that for my breakfast (will wait till later to have meat). Sit down a few more minutes for a little more quiet time. Put lunch and supper foods in cooler and get other things together to take to the girls’ house. Get sheets out of dryer and make bed. Whew! Ready to collapse (er, I mean relax). Finally headed for the girls’ house a little after 9:00. After we arrived there, I put our fridge food away. Daddy went out and hung the clothes. I made a smoothie. Finished writing yesterday’s journal notes. Later in the morning, Daddy and I checked Acts 17. Praise the Lord for His help all through the morning. Daddy decided he would go out to Subway for his lunch today so I put the meat in the freezer that I had cooked this morning. This afternoon, I took time to revise my prayer notebook. Now it is ready for printing out a new copy. Did a little crocheting in the evening. “4Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. 5But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” Isaiah 53:4,5 It was for me He died. It was for my sin He suffered. He bore my griefs. He carried my sorrows. He was wounded for my transgressions. He was bruised for my iniquities. The chastisement of my peace was upon Him. By His stripes I was healed. He had no sin of His own. He had done no wrong. Why should He love me so?

June 6. Daddy finally got his pancakes this morning. I was awake plenty early so had plenty of time to make those for him. Arrived at C&C’s house around 9:00. Deleted some e-mails and prayed for requests. Wrote one e-mail and prayed for needs. Daddy and I worked together to check Acts 15. Then I made corrections and set it up in the print file. Also set up the English for chapter 16. This afternoon, it took me a while to find the notes I had copied from Daddy’s computer on making a Bible outline for preaching. Finally found it and got it set up in a publisher file similar to all of the other courses. There was a visiting missionary speaker at EBC this evening, Bro. Adrian Hendricks, wife Emma and two of his three sons—Timothy and Trophimus. They ministered to us first in song. Then Bro. Hendricks showed a presentation of the need in India. And last of all he preached, his text being Galatians 6:7, the Principle of Sowing and Reaping. Choose wisely. The little choices we make have consequences tomorrow. The people of Galatia had been deceived by Judaizers. Paul told them “Stop being deceived.” God is not mocked. You can’t say, “I got away with it. He didn’t get me.” 1) You reap what you sow. 2) You reap more than what you sow—you reap a harvest. 3) In the principle of sowing and reaping, God may give a crop failure. If we sow to our flesh (if we live to please ourselves), we shall reap corruption. How can I sow in the Spirit? Keep the word of God a priority. Keep prayer a priority. Your church. And serving the Lord. Remember you are crucified with Christ. You must consider what you are sowing. Finished the collar this evening that I started crocheting yesterday evening. “19Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah. 20He that is our God is the God of salvation; and unto GOD the Lord belong the issues from death.” Psalm 68:19,20 Thank you, my Lord, for so many benefits loaded upon us daily, far more than we can count, the greatest benefit, of course, being your salvation and deliverance from death. June 7. Didn’t leave until 9:00 this morning for shopping as we wanted to stop at Big Lots first and they don’t open until 9:00. After Big Lots, we shopped WM and Aldi and returned home by 11:00. Thankful for an easy shopping day today. Put away food and was hungry so had an 11:30 lunch—a cup of soup. Stitched the crocheted collar onto my shirt, the collar I finished yesterday evening. Then had a cupful of grape juice and another half cup of soup. Thankful for the Lord’s help in checking Acts 16 this afternoon, and then getting corrections made and setting it up in the print file. Also added English for chapter 17 to the print file. Cooked up some veggies for supper. Then added the leftover peas and rice, a piece of seaweed, and a cup of beef broth. Pureed the mixture and drank a couple cupsful for supper. Tasted so good. Have some left for tomorrow. Early this evening, I started looking over Pidgin Romans so maybe we can be ready for it when we finish Acts. We noticed that the house was getting very warm so we went out for a walk, but it was much too warm and humid outside. So we decided to go over to the girls’ house for a couple hours and get cool. Christy was gone to the pre-school graduation for the children where she works. She was still gone when we left. “How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!” Isaiah 52:7 Lord, may my feet be beautiful for Thee.
June 4. Since Connie’s appointment with Dr. Schulman was a little earlier than usual, we thought it best to go to TJ’s after the appointment. Great! Maybe Daddy would finally get his pancakes for breakfast. I had brought the griddle over so I could make them yesterday evening and have them ready for this morning. That’s because we would be done at the girls’ house by 6:00, or so we thought. Our late arrival home killed that plan however. But I would have plenty of time to make them this morning, right? Right! Okay, here we go. Get out pancake mix. Find a bowl. Get out griddle. Oh, no! I forgot to bring the power cord for the griddle. Well, no problem. I’ll just make a small batch and cook in the non-stick skillet. Okay, that’ll work. Measure pancake mix into bowl. Next ingredient—cooking oil. Oh, no! No cooking oil. “That’s okay,” Lewis said. “You can make the pancakes another day.” Oh, I’m sorry. So he got his usual bowl of cereal and fruit ready to eat, and I proceeded to make my own breakfast. Before we left the house, I also made myself a small pot of herb tea. A little after 9:00, we headed over to pick up Connie. I immediately got out the power cord and cooking oil plus a small jar with alfalfa leaf in it and set them on the shelf to take home when we came back. So off we went to Charlotte. Praise the Lord for a beautiful day and a safe trip! Arrived about twenty minutes early at Dr. Schulman’s office. Maybe he wouldn’t be busy and Connie could get in early. Daddy went on over to Neighborhood WalMart while Connie and I waited in the doc’s office. He had other patients and we didn’t get in early, however. Were still waiting when Daddy returned. Her appointment was at 10:40, and once they took her in, her adjustment didn’t take long at all. It was after 11:00, however, before we left there and headed for TJ’s. And it was already noon when we left TJ’s. Our trip home took us through SC where Daddy filled up Christy’s car with gas and his mug with coffee. Since we would be going by the prophets’ chamber on the way back, Daddy dropped me off here with our groceries. It was now around 1:30. I put away the groceries and put a hamburger and some peas on to cook for Daddy’s lunch. He took Connie home and came back. Connie forgot to remind him to pick up the things I had set out, but he would be going back later to trade cars back. His lunch was ready about 2:00, just a few minutes after he got back here. He was just about ready to sit down and eat when Christy called. She was able to get off work early today and wanted her car so she could go shopping. Daddy ate his lunch first and then took the car over to her. Connie had the things I had set out ready for him to bring back. So tomorrow morning he can have pancakes.?! By now it was 3:00 and we headed for nap. It was already 4:18 when I woke up. Guess I needed the sleep. This afternoon and evening, I worked on notes for “Redi long I Go long Narapela Hap” (Ready to Go). It was so nice and pleasant out this evening, and Daddy and I enjoyed a walk around the yard. “Who is among you that feareth the LORD, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath no light? let him trust in the name of the LORD, and stay upon his God.” Isaiah 50:10 June 5. Two full loads of laundry to do this morning. It had been a week since we’d washed—seven days worth of clothes plus Daddy’s bedding and towels. I asked him if he wanted me to put the socks in the dryer with the sheets and towels or if he wanted to hang 28 socks on the line after we got to the girls’ house. He decided they should go in the dryer. 😊 It was a little after 9:00 when we got to the girls’ house. Daddy hung the clothes while I put away food and straightened up a few other things in the kitchen. Then we got our computers set up for work. Daddy brought up some videos of the Guatemalan volcano which we looked at first. Then I wrote up the progress report and got that sent off to Pastor Ogle. Also set up last week’s journal notes in a file for Connie. Fixed a pot of rice for Daddy’s dinner. After nap, I transferred photos to the computer, edited them, and sent a few of them off to Connie along with the journal notes. “In those days there was no king in Israel, but every man did that which was right in his own eyes.” Judges 17:6 How sad! And even thinking they were serving the Lord. So it is with many professing believers in today’s America. June 3. Arrived at the girls’ house a little after 8:30 this morning. Had to hasten a little bit to be on time for the first worship service. Pastor continued his series on the Faith-Filled Family, talking today about Submission to Authority, the role of the wives, Ephesians 5:22-24,33. “Wives, submit yourselves (arrange yourselves in order under) to your own husbands” is a command that has a benefit for the wives. “As unto the Lord” = in the same way you submit to the Lord. It is not about your husband’s imperfections; it is about the Lord’s perfections. “In everything,” except if it directly disobeys God. A wife’s submission in no way hints that a husband should lord it over his wife as if she were a slave. It is far easier for a wife to submit to a man who loves her like Christ loves the church. The wife’s submission is not something for the man to emphasize; the man has a full time job learning to love his wife as Christ loves the church. The man is in a position of headship—this does not mean that the wife is inferior. All of us are created in the image of God. When you refuse to submit, you distort the view of Christ and His church. “Reverence” = make much of him, defer to him; fear mingled with respect and affection. What does a spirit-filled wife look like? If you don’t submit to and respect your husband, you are not walking in the spirit. Sunday school was also livestreamed this morning as Jeremiah Clark gave a report on his trip to Madagascar. It was a heart-touching report, and, oh, that it might start a fire in people’s hearts to give themselves to go and reach the unreached with the gospel. Pastor’s message in the last service was from I Peter 4:7, “Don’t Stop Preparing” - You must be prepared the way God wants you to be prepared. He talked about the reality of the end being near which should cause us to purify ourselves, to arm ourselves (Romans 13:12), to use our time wisely, to make church a priority, to be discerning (I John 2:18), and to fear. We need to be sober and to watch and pray in order to be ready when the end comes. After Daddy and the girls got home and we had had our nap, we started getting ready for Open House/Dedication. Put out a welcome sign on the mailbox and enter and exit signs near the house. Put out the balloons on the mailbox too. Changed the tablecloth. Put away extra things off the counter tops. Dry and put away the dishes Christy had just washed. Maw and Paw Carpenter showed up around 3:30 with the cake, punch, juice, and water. What a lovely cake! - All divided by icing strips into small sections with a rosebud in each section. Done by Food Lion especially for the Carpenters. Not as many came as we had hoped, but some who had hoped to come were unable to because of sickness or other reasons. We did enjoy having the Valenzuelas, the DuPres, Naomi, Heather and Molly (two of Christy’s co-workers), Mrs. Skinner, Pastor & Mrs. Ogle, Pastor & Mrs. Bru, and Mel & Ellen. Mel & Ellen came later as they had been in SC with Stephen and Lauren who just moved to Taylors. The Brus, who had come near the end, stayed and fellowshipped a while with them and us. After they left, Mel checked over some things that the girls asked him to help with. I believe it was about 8:30 when we finally left C&C’s house. I was really hungry and fixed a big pot of veggies for myself after we got home. “But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.” I Peter 4:7 Companion verse: “The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.” Romans 13:12 June 1. There were hardly any clothes in the hamper this morning so we did not do laundry today. Before we came over to the girls’ house, I did cut up carrots and onions to have them ready for making soup tomorrow morning. Will cut up the sweet taters and apples in the morning. After arriving at the girls’ house and getting food put away in fridge, I spent the rest of the morning getting journal notes ready for Connie and transferring pictures to the computer and fixing them so I could send her some pictures too. At lunch time, Daddy went out to Subway, and I finished up my soup. When he came back, we enjoyed watching a young deer come up to the edge of the back property and feed on the poison ivy and other leaves. This afternoon, I looked for some Bible outlines online and also made “welcome” and “enter” and “exit” signs to put out on Sunday. After supper, a storm came up and power went out. We didn’t know how long it would be out so came back to the prophets’ chamber where there would be light, we hoped, so we could make wise use of our time. Power was out all the way to within a block of here, and we were beginning to wonder. We were thankful to see lights as we got almost here. All but one of the intersections had lights out. Police were directing traffic at the intersection of Post Road and 74. The girls called a little before 7:00 to say that their power was back on. In the mean time, I got another missionary song written for MTC. “13Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13,14 Lewis and I have been reading Philippians together, and these verses, though familiar, were a particular reminder and challenge to me last night. June 2. Even before breakfast this morning, I got busy in the kitchen getting the rest of the soup ingredients ready and everything put together in the crockpot. Once soup was on cooking, I was able to get my breakfast and also enjoy more quiet time. I was very thankful for Daddy’s help in washing dishes while I was making the soup. Wrote out a vitamin order to take to Christy, and made a list of things we need to get at her house and bring back to use at the prophets’ chamber. Crocheted the body for the lamb I was making. After nap, we got ready to head to the girls’ house. Stopped first at Dollar Tree to get some small trash bags and three balloons for the open house tomorrow. After we got here, I made the legs for the lamb and attached them. Then found some pink yarn to make the lamb a mouth. Lamb is now complete. “12Hearken unto me, O Jacob and Israel, my called; I am he; I am the first, I also am the last. 13Mine hand also hath laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand hath spanned the heavens: when I call unto them, they stand up together.” Isaiah 48:12,13 If the heavens and the earth stand up and listen when God calls, how much more should we?
May 30. Christy and Connie were without power all night and this morning. We bought them a couple bags of ice this morning to put in their fridge to keep things cold. We didn’t stay there, but just took the ice over and picked up our food items from the fridge, my computer cord, and Daddy’s computer. Forgot that my clipboard and translation stuff was on the tote under the table, however; so we didn’t have it with us to work on this morning. It was past time to do backups again and I spent nearly an hour and a half getting that job done. A little after 11:00, Daddy left for Gaffney to pick up the girls’ milk. Spent most of the afternoon working on lessons for the outreach program for MTC. When Christy came home from work, their power was still out so she and Connie came over to the prophets’ chamber to fix their supper. Christy had a little nap and washed her hair. Daddy went back over to the girl’s house before supper to get a few things we had forgotten. When he got there, the power was back on. Word from John Gray this evening is that he is still dealing with visa difficulties; but our applications have been submitted, and he will go back in next week to see how things are progressing. Pastor Ogle preached on Esther chapter 4 -- Leadership continued. Review of last week: The king led by popularity; Haman led by pride. Tonight’s lesson: 3) Mordecai led on principle. He did not give in no matter what was at stake. He did not demand recognition and he knew how to handle power. Stubborn leadership says “I’m right and it doesn’t matter what anyone else says.” Principled leadership says, “God is right and it doesn’t matter what anyone else says.” 4) Esther led by purposeful leadership. There was a time and purpose for her to be a leader. We are given divine moments that alter circumstances. God will use someone, but He wants to use you. “5I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me: 6That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the LORD, and there is none else…. 21….there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me. 22Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.” Isaiah 45:5,6,21,22 The same wonderful theme still flows lovingly through these chapters of Isaiah. May 31. Another very busy day. While I was having quiet time and finishing breakfast, Daddy washed up the dishes. And as soon as we were ready, we headed out to shop. It was about 8:15. Lidl’s first, for just a few items. Then WalMart for a few more items, plus Daddy had new windshield wipers put on the van. Last stop in Shelby was Aldi. Then we headed to the Polkville discount store to get more of some more of the things we had gotten on Tuesday to try. It was about 11:45 when we arrived back at the house. After getting the groceries all sorted out and some set aside for the girls, the rest was put away into the cupoboards and fridge. Then we had our lunch, followed by our afternoon nap. After nap, we checked chapter 14 of Acts. It had a couple hard places to work through. We are thankful for the Lord’s help once again in that awesome task. And we’re thankful to now be half way through Acts. After a little break, I made corrections in the Acts 14 file and set it up in the print file. Also added the English for chapter 15 to the print file. At supper time, I made an apple cinnamon cobbler and while it was still warm, enjoyed a little of it as part of my supper. Then I did backups of files from Daddy’s computer and later worked on notes for orientation for those who express interest in missionary work. “9Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, 10Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure. 11Calling a ravenous bird from the east, the man that executeth my counsel from a far country: yea, I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed it, I will also do it.” Isaiah 46:9-11 God alone is God, and there is none like Him. Whatever He determines to do, He will do. He never fails to keep His word, and He does whatever He pleases. He does not need to ask counsel from any other being, and there is no man or spirit who can keep Him from performing that which He has purposed to do. May 28. Prepared a veggie medley of carrots, celery, onions, and summer squash to go with amaranth and the leftover chicken for breakfast. After my quiet time, Daddy and I checked Acts chapter 12, and then I got it set up in the print file as well as the English for chapter 13. Crocheted a flower to go on my hat which I finished last night before bed. (See picture) Made shepherd’s pie (which turned out to be shepherd’s pie soup 😊) for Daddy’s dinner and used up the leftover potatoes. After nap, I crocheted a couple leaves to go with the flower for the hat and attached them to the flower and then the whole ornament to the hat. Then it was time for us to leave to pick up the girls and go visit Kathy. (Christy was off work today for the Memorial Day holiday.) Took Kathy a mini rose bush in a flower pot, along with a birthday card and birthday balloon. Today was her birthday. We were glad we went to see her. We were about to go over and see Ted when she called him to come over to her room. We only stayed a few extra minutes, however, because the physical therapist was waiting to help Kathy. This evening, the girls came over and we played some table games—”In Other Words” and dominoes. Then we had our family devotions before they left for home. “And the men took of their victuals, and asked not counsel at the mouth of the LORD.” Joshua 9:14 Oh, how careful we must be not to make hasty decisions, but to ask counsel at the mouth of the LORD! May 29. The first half of the morning, there was lots to do—take a shower, have quiet time, cook quinoa to go with breakfast, get dish water ready for Daddy to do dishes, fix and eat breakfast, wash and dry two loads of laundry except for shirts and dresses which were hung on hangers to dry, get food and other things ready to take to C&C’s house, load up the car. By the time we loaded ourselves into the car, I was tuckered out and ready for a nap. Once we got to the girls’ house, we had about a half hour to put food away in the fridge, set up computer, and whatever else we needed to do. I even had a few minutes left to work on Freida Fish. Showed her to Freddie (our pet fish) and he was quite excited about her. Finished Freida in the car on the way to Cliffside. Around 9:45, we headed to Cliffside for Connie’s doctor appointment. Her appointment was at 10:30. It was after 11:00 when we left Dr. Green’s office and headed for the discount store in Polkville. Did a little shopping there, but still had two more stops to make before getting back home. Next was the nursing home where Connie took Kathy’s mail in for her. Then the post office to drop off newsletters that were ready to mail. Finally got back to the house around 1:00. Had lunch and a little nap. This afternoon, the Lord helped Daddy and me to check Acts 13. Then made corrections and set it up in the print file. Also set up English chapter 14 to be ready when Pidgin 14 is checked. “6Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God. 7And who, as I, shall call, and shall declare it, and set it in order for me, since I appointed the ancient people? and the things that are coming, and shall come, let them shew unto them. 8Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any.” Isaiah 44:6-8 The LORD, the King of Israel, the redeemer, continually reminds His people that there is no God beside Himself. And God’s people are His witnesses of Who He is and what He has done and that there is no other God. There is no other God who has done or who can ever do the things that our God has done or that can declare the things that our God has declared. I’m so thankful for such a God. With Him we do not need to fear or be afraid. His is in control of everything. May 27. Off to the girls’ house a little earlier this morning to be there in time for church. In the first meeting, Pastor started a series on “A Faith-Filled Family.” From the book of Ephesians he talked about 1) The fruit of the spirit: You cannot have a faith-filled family until you have a fruit-filled life. Ephesians 5:9, (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth)…. .We all need to examine ourselves in the light of goodness, righteousness, and truth. 2) The filling of the Spirit: You cannot have a faith-filled family until you have a Spirit-filled life. In order for you to be filled with the Spirit, the Spirit must have complete control. Ephesians 5:18, And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit….. How can you tell a person is filled with the Spirit? One: singing, ministering to each other in singing (v. 19). Two: satisfaction, thankfulness (v. 20). Three: submission, (vs. 21,22). Between the two meetings, I did some singing and crocheting. The second sermon was from I Peter 4:1-5, “The Change Is Obvious.” Is a change obvious in your life? “We must allow the change to be so obvious in our lives that others see the difference.” At the end of the meeting, they observed the Lord’s Supper. After Daddy had lunch, we came back to the prophets’ chamber and had a nap. It was already 3:00, and I slept until 4:30. This evening, we went to Morning Star again. The pastor’s text was Exodus 3:1-12, the story of Moses and the burning bush. He presented a good message on “Learning to Listen to the Lord.” “I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour…. I am the LORD, your Holy One, the creator of Israel, your King…. I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins….” Isaiah 43:11,15,25 God made it very clear to His people that He alone is the LORD, Jehovah, the self-existent, eternal one; that there is no other savior; that He is King; that He alone blots out, erases, sin. He alone is worthy of our worship and honor and praise.
May 25. Laundry to do this morning. Made a stop at Hobby Lobby on the way here to get some silver paint and a couple canvases. It was around 9:30 when we got to the girls' hosue. We could see that they had had lots of rain here. They must live in the Shelby rainforest region. 😊 I put away some food in the fridge that we had brought with us. Then I printed out the sausage recipes for Connie before setting to work making lemon pudding for tomorrow’s dessert. Mmm’mm, the test taste tasted so good, just like lemon pie. After that I found some tissue paper and party bags for each of the gifts for the three ladies. Time to rest. Worked a while on culture notes for MTC before having lunch.. I really zonked out at nap time. It was nearly 3:00 before I woke up. Christy wasn’t home yet, and I was thankful for the extra sleep. The Lord helped Daddy and me to check Acts 11 this afternoon. Then I got it set up in the print file, as well as the English for chapter 12 which maybe we can do tomorrow or Monday. Put together all the dry ingredients for the biscuits for tomorrow’s luncheon. Then worked more on the culture notes until supper time. It took quite a while to wash up all the dishes this evening. “4He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law. (Some still wait.) 5Thus saith God the LORD, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein: 6I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles; 7To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.” Isaiah 42:4-7 The LORD has called us to give light to those in darkness, to open the eyes of the blind, to bring the prisoners out of the prison house. And He has promised to hold our hand and keep us (guard and protect us). Precious promises! May 26. It’s been a busy day, but a good day. Washed hair this morning before having breakfast and quiet time. Then we got things together to take to the girls’ house. As soon as we arrived, I started right in working in the kitchen so we would by ready by noon for the three ladies who would be coming for lunch. Cleaned off the counters and kitchen table. Fixed a mini pot of flowers to put in the center of the table. Got out all the dishes we would need for lunch and dessert. Set the table. Got out the ground beef and ground lamb to which Connie had added spices to make it into sausage. Formed it all into little balls and put it in baking dishes to go into the oven. Then got out the biscuit mix I had made yesterday and added milk to it so I could roll it out and cut the biscuits. (Lewis had to go back to the prophets’ chamber to get some milk for the biscuits because the girls are short on milk.) Oops, biscuit mix too wet to roll out (should have started with less milk; could add more flour, but time was escaping.) Oh, well, we’ll make drop biscuits. Put biscuits in oven and then make the salads. Finished everything right around noon. Thankful for the Lord’s strength and help. The first visitor, Jane, arrived right on 12:00. Denise showed up shortly afterward. Christy and Connie showed them the house while we were waiting for Beth who was showing a house and would be a little late. What a wonderful time we had together with the ladies! It was about 2:30 when they had all left. Then Daddy and I had a little nap. After nap, I washed up all the dishes. Then it was time to relax for the rest of the afternoon and evening. Around 5:00, Daddy went off to the men’s barbecue at the Spencers’ house. “When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.” Isaiah 43:2 Thank you, Lord, that you’re always with us, no matter how difficult our circumstances.
May 23. After getting to C&C’s house this morning, getting a few food items put away in the fridge, and saying good morning to Connie, the first thing I did was set up my computer and print out about 60 copies (15 card stock sheets) of the invitation to their open house. Was going to cut them next, but Connie doesn’t have a paper cutter, and both of Christy’s paper cutters were over at the prophets chamber. So off Daddy and I went to get them. Wasn’t long and we were back, and I started right in cutting the pages into four equal parts. Next I got out thank you notes and wrote eight or ten notes of thanks to those who had helped us move. Also addressed several envelopes so a couple thank you notes and a few invitations could be mailed. Left the rest up to the girls—signing the notes, putting return address labels and stamps on the envelopes. By then it was 11:30. Needed to cook a meal for Daddy today. Got out half a dozen good sized potatoes and peeled them. Washed and cut them and put them in a pan with water to cook. Started heating a pan for cooking chicken. Added a little oil and some herbs and later some water. Got out a little pan and put a little water in it to heat some frozen corn later. Prepared ingredients for gravy. Got out the mixer so it would be ready for “mashing” potatoes. About 12:30, all was done, and Daddy could enjoy his dinner. After nap, the Lord enabled us to check Acts 9, and later, I made corrections in the Pidgin file and set it up in the print file. Also set up chapter 10 English for tomorrow. Early evening, I washed the dishes so I would be done before the evening service started. Before Daddy and the girls left for church, we saw six beautiful deer come out of the woods on the south side of the house. Some of them ran away when I went outside with the camera, but two of them stood there and looked at me so I was able to get a couple pictures. At the beginning of the meeting this evening, Pastor Ogle gave an update on the missions trip in Madagascar. For the preaching time he looked at Esther from the standpoint of Leadership, beginning with Esther 4:14. You must realize that how you lead will impact you and those who follow you, and maybe for eternity. One source he quoted brought out these four contrasts of the four main leaders in the story: The king was a leader without control; Mordecai was a leader with control; Esther was a leader under control; and Haman was a leader out of control. Pastor covered two of four different leadership styles: 1) the King led by popularity; 2) Haman led by pride. He will cover the other two next Wednesday, Lord willing. My Bible reading this morning was Isaiah 40, one of my favorite chapters. Verses 1 & 2 say, “1Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God. 2Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the LORD's hand double for all her sins.” After all His anger and the punishment of His people, God wanted them to be comforted. He wanted them to know that His anger had been satisfied and their sins had been pardoned. What a joy to know that God’s purpose in chastening His people is not to destroy them, but to bring them to repentance and to restore them to fellowship with Him! Many other verses in this chapter bring comfort and joy and peace to my heart too, but there isn’t room to share everything here. May 24. A busy shopping day. Left the house a little before 8:30. First stop was Lidl where we looked for veggies for Saturday’s salad, along with a few other little things. After that, there was a stop at WM and then on to Aldi for the rest of our groceries. On the way home, we went on up to the mall to get Vitamin E for Connie. After getting home and putting away groceries, I finished writing yesterday’s journal notes. Then it was time for lunch. This afternoon, we checked Acts 10, and I got correction made and the chapter set up in the print file, plus adding English for chapter 11 to the print file. Before supper, I called Jean and enjoyed a little chat with her. This evening, I spent quite a while working on the MTC culture course and also started crocheting a hat.. “10Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness…. 13For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee. 14Fear not, thou worm Jacob, and ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith the LORD, and thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.” Isaiah 41:10,13,14 Three times, God commanded Israel not to fear, and three times He repeated the promise “I will help thee.” Why then should we ever fear? For in these same verses, God has also promised “I am with thee; I am thy God; I will strengthen thee; I will uphold thee; I will hold thy right hand.” |
