September 10. A cool morning. Sunny in the morning, with clouds coming in the afternoon Mrs. Surrett continued with her teaching from Proverbs, contrasting the wise man and the foolish man in Proverbs chapter1. Pastor Ogle’s preaching about Peter dealt with the Great Commission this morning, a fitting message for our missions month. After we got home, I threw together a quick pizza for dinner and heated up some frozen lima beans for Lewis. After nap, I did a little Bible study and then wrote the monthly update. This evening, we listened to a Sunday school lesson on unity, taught by Pastor Weiss at MBC.

September 8. This morning, Daddy called on some apartments that are being advertised. Learned that they can’t show the apartments yet because work is still being done on them, but people are already putting in applications and there is a waiting list. We also received a call this morning from Kevin Rice asking us if we wanted to come to a birthday party for his wife this evening. Then we thought about looking into some rental homes, so after we got the laundry done, washed up yesterday’s dishes, and did a few other household tasks, Daddy and I went to see what they might have available. We were given a list and also told about a house in Lawndale that might fit our needs. We couldn’t go inside because they hadn’t gone in yet and cleaned up, but he said we could go look at the outside and look in the windows. So off we went to Lawndale, but weren’t too pleased with the condition of the house. Since we now weren’t too far from Polkville, we decided to run on over to the discount store. We praise the Lord for some useful items we found there. It was already after 1:00 when we got back home. Put food away the best we could (not much space for extras), had lunch, and then nap. This afternoon, I worked on Jon lessons for Mike for a while. Then about 5:15, we left for Gastonia to be at a birthday party for Dawn Rice. We didn’t know it was a surprise party until we got there. We were directed to park way out back where other cars were hidden from view of the front yard and driveway entrance. A couple of the kids had taken Dawn out somewhere. Pastor John & family were there and several other people from Every Nation, as well as other friends. There were close to thirty people there, counting the Rice family, except for Tyshaun who has gone back to PCC. When Dawn was brought back home, everyone exclaimed “Surprise!” And she was surprised. There were chips and dip to snack on while Kevin went out to get the pizza he had ordered. In the course of the evening, we played a couple games, good games for getting acquainted. Everyone seemed to have a good time together. It was probably around 9:30 when we got home. September 9. After quiet time and breakfast this morning, I got busy cleaning up the kitchen. We didn’t have time to do that yesterday before we went to the Rices’. Washed all the dishes. Don’t know why there were so many. I had done them yesterday morning, and we weren’t here for supper in the evening. After working in the kitchen, I was ready to sit down a while so fixed myself a smoothie and sat down to enjoy that. Then I straightened up a few things in the living room. C&C had already cleaned up most of that room. A little before 10:30, CJ and Jum arrived to check on the leaks. CJ could see that the raccoon had been tearing up shingles on the roof. Besides patching up the roof, he also fixed our bedroom door which had been scraping on the floor every time it was opened or closed. While they were working, I reorganized some books and emptied some shelf space for storing food. Did some proofreading of the Proverbs lessons after that. This afternoon, I finished another lesson in one of the MTP (missionary training program) courses. “After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.” Genesis 15:1 When God tells us not to fear, we can be certain that He is with us and will take care of us. Whatever He wants to accomplish in our lives, we can trust Him to fulfill all His will, and we don’t need to be afraid. There is nothing we need to fear even though we may not see what is ahead, for God is our shield (protector) and His wages greatly exceed any that the world can offer. September 6. A dark, dreary, rainy day. Was really tired this morning and went for nap before 12:30. Wrote and deleted e-mails this morning. Made shopping list. Lewis went of to Gaffney to get milk for C&C. After I ate lunch, I opened up The Isles Are Singing so I could start another chapter. I hadn’t even begun when a line came up on the screen, chose a place in the document and started pushing the line of words off the other end of the page. Frustrated, I shut down that file. But it did the same thing on every file I had up, both in Word and Publisher. Peeved, I shut them all down, shut the whole computer down, and aired my grievance to Connie. She told me I shouldn’t have shut down the computer in case there is a virus, but it was too late. I turned the computer back on and ran a virus scan, and Connie did a manual scan but didn’t find anything. I went for my nap and was able to get a chapter written after that without any problem. Well, actually I did have a difficult few minutes of sadness (and gladness). Daddy got a wonderful text from Bro. B. and I couldn’t help but weep. For a short time, I couldn’t concentrate on writing the story so took a break until I could obtain help from the Lord in getting my composure. Pastor Ogle completed his teaching on Exodus 23 this evening, from verses 13 through 19, talking about “Be on guard, be festive, be giving.” He gave several applications from the feasts: 1) Take time to worship, including on special occasions. 2) Take time for rest and refreshment, including on special occasions. 3) Enjoy the fruit of your labor, but don’t forget the poor. 4) Endure hard labor and look forward to times of celebration. 5) Take time away for worship and celebration. 6) There is nothing wrong with adding celebrations to remember significant times. “And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.” Genesis 12:3 What a precious promise! Repeated several times over to Abraham himself and to his seed (Genesis 18:18; 22:18; 26:4; 28:14), prophesied by King David in Psalm 72, and fulfilled in the coming of the Saviour, Jesus Christ our Lord (Acts 3:25,26; Galatians 3:8). “After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands.” Revelation 7:9 September 7. The temperature dropped down to the low 50’s last night, and another cool night is predicted. Is this an early beginning to fall? After breakfast and quiet time, Daddy and I went out to do our weekly shopping. The governor of NC has already declared a state of emergency in view of hurricane Irma heading this way from the Caribbean, due to arrive here Wednesday or Thursday next week (it ended up going west and missing us). People are panicking, however, and many of the shelves in the stores were already empty. Water and a lot of fresh produce were gone. Batteries were gone. We actually finished our shopping within an hour today. I was happy to get home early. There were dishes to do from last night. After a sit-down break, I did up the dishes and then had lunch. Daddy had gone off to Subway for his lunch and then to Ingles to see if they had water and to get eggs (which we forgot to get at WalMart). He also found some markdown Bolthouse berry drinks for me. While he was gone, I started going through one pile of CD’s that Christy had put on my desk. Wanted to get them out of my way. Discovered that most of them were Connie’s so passed them on to her. I did find an old power point presentation called “By the Scriptures” which we might be able to use in churches, and I transferred that to my desktop. Had a long nap. This afternoon, Daddy and I worked together on writing an important letter. Right around supper time, we received a phone call from Steve. It was great to hear his voice and to know that he is hoping to get up here to see us. “12Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain, and pitched his tent toward Sodom. 13But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly.” Genesis 13:12,13 How careful we must be about where we pitch our tents. We should not only not dwell among those who live wickedly, but should also not dwell where we can view their wicked deeds for soon we may find ourselves desiring to dwell among them.
September 4. A nice cool night last night. After getting journal notes and a few pictures ready to send off to Connie this morning, Daddy and I went out to the discount grocery on Lafayette where we got a roast for tomorrow evening, a few sweet taters, and a few other items. Then to WalMart for greens (collards), almond milk, water, condensed milk. Just before we went off to the stores, our new neighbor came over to see if we had a jack. Someone had sliced a tire on her car. We don’t have a jack, but loaned her Christy’s four-way lug wrench. I guess the lady found a jack after we left. She returned the lug wrench to Christy, and she told the girls she would like to meet Pastor Pritchett when he comes tomorrow evening. Christy was off work today (Labor Day) and was going through some old CD’s that she had on her desk for a long time. She stacked a bunch on my desk that had files of ours so after getting something to eat, I started going through some of those. Also sent Connie her e-mail with journal notes and pictures. This afternoon, I went through a few more of those CD’s and then made myself a pot of celery soup. This evening, there were lots of dishes. After washing those, I relaxed and did some crocheting. “1Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee: 2And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing.” Genesis 12:1,2 And so the LORD calls men and women today to get out of their own country, and from their kindred, and from their father’s house, to go to a land that He will show them. He promises to make them a great nation, to give them many children (spiritual children), to bless them, to make them great (perhaps not in men’s eyes), and to make them a blessing. Therefore it is our desire to dwell in that land to which the LORD already led us that He might continue to bless us and to make us a blessing and to give us many children. “10Hearken, O daughter, and consider, and incline thine ear; forget also thine own people, and thy father's house; 11So shall the king greatly desire thy beauty: for he is thy Lord; and worship thou him.” Psalm 45:10,11 “26If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. 27And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple. 33So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.” Luke 14:26,27,33 “That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.” Galatians 3:14 September 5. It’s been a busy day. After quiet time, I put meat and veggies in crockpot to cook for this evening’s dinner. Laundry was next. And house cleaning — swept living room and kitchen floors and straightened up areas that had collected too much stuff. For sit-down breaks, I wrote out the progress report and sent that off to Pastor Ogle. This afternoon, I cut up the roast and made gravy. Then I made double chocolate brownies — Annie’s mix. After another sit-down break, I did the dishes. At 6:00, Pastor Pritchett arrived. Supper was ready, and as soon as we got everything on the table, we sat down to eat. Enjoyed the meal and a great time of fellowship at the table and more fellowship in the living room the rest of the evening. We were sorry that his wife couldn’t come with him. September 1. Both of us went to bed early last night, tired after our outing yesterday. Praise the Lord for a good night’s rest. Rain was predicted for today so most of the laundry went into the dryer after it was washed, and a few things got hung up in the laundry room or bathroom. Although clouds came and went during the day, the rain never did come, except for a few sprinkles this afternoon. Took time this morning to write and delete some e-mails. Then later in the morning, and this afternoon and evening as well, I worked on the missionary training course lessons. “While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.” Genesis 8:22 While we generally think of only four seasons, the Hebrews and Arabs still consider the six divisions mentioned in this verse, according to Treasury of Scripture Knowledge. September 2. Christy and Connie wanted to go to Forest City to see if it would be an alternative place to do some of their health food shopping and some other things. We left here some time after 9:00 this morning; looked around Plum Natural, J’s, and Ollie’s; and arrived back home around 1:00. Praise the Lord for His help this afternoon in finishing the notes on India for the missionary training course. Around mid-afternoon, C&C went out to do some more of their shopping. While they were gone, Daddy and I took sherbet and ice cream cones to the neighbors. Renee and her family were outside, and Danny Boy was over there talking with them so we told them to divide them up. We were thankful to be able to have some contact with Renee again. We invited Danny Boy to come with us to church at Nations tomorrow. He said he will try to go next week. We hadn’t planned to go to Nations again next week, but if he is truly wanting to go, we can probably work out something. This evening, I did some crocheting on the flag afghan. “And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.” Genesis 9:1 “And you, be ye fruitful, and multiply; bring forth abundantly in the earth, and multiply therein.” Genesis 9:7 Just as God had blessed Adam and commanded him to be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth (Genesis 1:28), even so He commanded Noah and his sons. In Genesis 9:2, He also commanded Noah and his sons to subdue the earth and have dominion over it, as He had commanded Adam. “And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered.” Genesis 9:2 August 30. We don’t usually do shopping on Wednesday, but we did today as, Lord willing, we”ll be going out to visit the Beards tomorrow. Left a little after 9:00 for Aldi, Mighty Dollar, GNC, and then WalMart. In WalMart, I talked for a while with a really nice lady. She had just moved down here from Michigan about a year ago. She was shopping for veggies so she could make soup so I told her about the soup I had made yesterday and that got a conversation going. She had heard that there would be a TJ’s (Trader Joe’s) opening soon in Shelby. I told her I didn’t know of one, but a Lidl’s will be opening soon. The nearest TJ’s we know of is in Charlotte. She doesn’t like driving I85 to Charlotte so we offered to let her go with us next time we go if she wants to. She gave me her name and phone number so we can get in touch with her whenever we are going to go. After putting away food and having lunch, I got journal notes ready to send to Connie and transferred some pictures from the camera so I could send those to Connie too. I almost forgot about sending her journal notes this week. After nap, I got those sent off to her. Then I got my September calendar/ schedule made up and printed that out before washing dishes. C&C went by themselves to church this evening as Cindie wanted to be picked up for church. Just before they left, Barbara came to the door. Gave her some chicken, rice, cookies, coconut milk, flour and oil. Gave her a hug too and told her I love her. How I pray for these dear souls to be saved. Pastor Ogle’s teaching tonight was on Exodus 23, relationships in judgment. August 31. The weather didn’t look too bad this morning so as soon as I was ready, we headed out on our trip to Linwood to visit the Beards. There were a few sprinkles of rain along the way, but not much; and it was nice when we arrived around 10:30. It was good to see the Beards again, and we enjoyed a great little time of fellowship with them. Enjoyed looking round Bro. Bill’s shop, and Suzie prepared a nice dinner of roast beef, potatoes, and carrots in the crockpot. She also made a lemon dessert which was very good. It was going on 2:00 when we left (don’t remember the exact time). We thought that would be plenty of time to get us around Charlotte before rush hour traffic, but it started raining just when we left and got to raining pretty heavily. That slowed us down, as well as the construction areas slowing us down. Traffic was already fairly heavy coming out of Charlotte, but not the big rush hour yet for which we were very thankful. We saw quite a number of trucks pulling trailers with pontoons, perhaps going to Texas or Louisiana.(?) Was able to get quite a bit done on a crocheted scarf during the hours of going and returning. Arrived home safely shortly before 4:00. Praise the Lord! We were very tired, and Daddy had a short nap, and I had a long nap. “And God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the cattle that was with him in the ark: and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters asswaged.” Genesis 8:1 God remembers His people. He is mindful of them. He thinks on them. God does not forget those who love and serve Him. Looking further into the Scripture, one can see that God remembers the wicked also to recompense to them their evil doings. August 28. Today was Charlotte day. We left here a little before 9:00, whizzed through TJ’s, didn’t need to go to Neighborhood Market today so headed straight to Dr. Schulman’s even though it was early, whizzed through Connie’s appointment, and headed home. Dr. Schulman wasn’t very busy so Connie was able to get her adjustment shortly after we got there. We came home via South Carolina where Daddy got gas at Flying J so it was about 12:30 when we arrived back at our home. Put food away, had lunch and installed Bible Explorer, had nap. This afternoon and evening, I finished youth lesson number 25 and started on 26. Just have questions and application to do yet on lesson 26, and the lessons will be complete. Lord willing, I can get that done tomorrow. Then, of course, everything will have to be printed out, proofread, and corrections made. “And Noah did according unto all that the LORD commanded him.” Genesis 7:5 Once again God tells us that Noah perfectly obeyed His instructions. Surely God desires that we do the same. Se also verse 9— ”as God had commanded Noah.” And verse 16— ”….as God had commanded him….” August 29. The Lord gave us a lovely, cool, cloudy morning. After quiet time and breakfast, I put laundry in to wash. Then made a shopping list and put clean sheets on the bed. Then I started making sweet tater soup. Still had a little of the last batch of soup left, but won’t have time tomorrow or Thursday to make soup. Once the soup was on cooking, I made a pizza for Daddy’s and my dinner. There was time before nap to do some work on the youth lessons; and after nap, I finished up the last lesson. Praise the Lord for helping to complete this project! Took a short break and then printed out lessons eight through twenty-six, all the lessons that hadn’t been printed out yet. (Lessons 1-7 are already in the hands of leaders in GIBC.) Now the new lessons can be proofread and corrections made in the computer. Then I took a long break and brought in some clothes and put some of them away. (There were a few not quite dry which I brought in later.) After that, I finished a lesson in the missionary training course — the lesson on the Miao people of China. Praise the Lord for His help with that too. After supper, I took a sit-down break with my legs up and did some crocheting on the flag afghan. Then I washed up the mountain of dishes. “In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.” Genesis 7:11 Although we cannot see the windows in heaven, God opened them to pour out the flood waters that destroyed the earth, rain and flood far greater than we can imagine. He has also promised to open the windows of heaven to pour out a blessing upon those who give Him their tithe, a blessing far greater than one could imagine. “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.” Malachi 3:10 August 27. This morning in Sunday school, Mrs. Surrett continued her study in Proverbs which she started several weeks ago. Pastor Ogle continued his series on “Peter: A Man Like Us.” Today’s preaching was on “His Collapse”, the text being Matthtew 26:31,32,34 and John 13:36,38. The theme — ”Our failures do not have to define us. We must get up from our failures and serve God.” It was a very sobering message on Peter’s denial of Christ and his brokenness over his sin. When we went to get into the car to come home, Christy couldn’t get her door open. Daddy discovered that my keys were left in the ignition, still in the "on" position, and the battery was dead as a doornail. When I came out to the car after Sunday school to get a drink, I had used the keys to open the windows. Somehow I completely forgot to turn off the ignition and remove the keys. We were thankful for the help of Kevin S in providing the jumper cables and for Andrew D with his input. When Daddy opened the hood of the van to get to the battery, the positive pole was all corroded. Andrew loosened up the connection and blew off the powdery corrosion before they connected the jumper cables. Praise the Lord, we arrived home safely around 1:00. This evening, we went out around 4:30 to Bread of Life.. We waited a while, but no one else ever showed up. We wondered if this were the weekend they were going to meet with Crossroads. We came back home for a few minutes and then decided to go to Victory Baptist in Lattimore. We enjoyed very much being in the meeting there and meeting the new pastor, Bob Reeise and his wife Moni, as well as a lot of other nice people. We also saw the Dyers there — hadn’t seen them in a very long time. After we sang some congregational songs and the choir sang a number, the pastor played his guitar and we all sang along with him. After the offering, the pastor preached from Ephesians 4:1-3. The message went along well with this morning’s message at EBC. We didn’t get to fellowship much afterward as they were having a business meeting. However, there was a fair amount of fellowship before the meeting and at shakehand time. Got home around 7:30. Did the dishes and then had a little supper. “And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation.” Genesis 7:1 The LORD told Noah to “Come” into the ark. That means that God Himself was in the ark. Noah would take refuge and shelter with God. Jesus also gave an invitation for all who will to come unto Him and find rest and refuge. Those who trust in Him are promised a refuge from the storm. “28Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30 “And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.” Revelation 22:17 “And there shall be a tabernacle for a shadow in the daytime from the heat, and for a place of refuge, and for a covert from storm and from rain.” Isaiah 4:6 “That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us.” Hebrews 6:18
August 26. Right after quiet time and breakfast this morning (about 8:25), C&C and I were off to Kings Mountain for the ladies’ meeting with Kelly Collier. It was a 3 1/2 hour session on studying God’s Word, entitled “Getting Glory from God.” The teaching was excellent, practical, and well-thought out. After over three hours of sitting (and I did some standing and walking around in between), lunch was served—chili, cornbread, cupcakes, and water or tea. I had brought my own soup and some cheddar rice crackers. It was a little after 2:00 when we arrived home, and I was very tired. Was thankful for a long nap. This afternoon, I worked on another youth lesson, and this evening, I did some crocheting. Also had a chance to talk to Syliva a few minutes when Daddy called David. “Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.” Genesis 6:22 Noah was 100% obedient to God’s instructions. How about me? Do I follow carefully God’s instructions written in God’s instruction book just for me? August 23. After I looked through the Ingles ad, and wrote an e-mail this morning, Daddy and I worked on packing. We finished packing one box and started on a bucket. Then around 10:30, we and Connie went off to the Mages’ house to look through some craft stuff that was given to her and see what Connie might like. From there, we headed to Crossroads where I was thankful to find some plain color blouses and a couple other items of clothing. Arrived back home around 12:30. Cleaned the rest of the stuff off the bed that didn’t get packed, finished packing the bucket we had started packing before we left, had lunch, swept the floor area on my side of the bed, put the bucket there since we had packed the end tables, had nap. After nap, I got the shopping list made for tomorrow and for TJ’s on Monday. Thankful for the good rain the Lord sent us this afternoon. Pastor Ogle preached this evening on the rest of Exodus 21 and then on 22, covering more of the laws given to Israel and how they can be applied in our own society today. “And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.” Genesis 6:5 God saw. Nothing is hid from God’s eyes, not even the thoughts and intents of the heart. He saw into the deepest part of the heart. He saw that man’s wickedness was great. It was abundant; exceedingly evil. Man’s whole imagination, that is, his whole conception, purpose, everything framed in his mind, everything conceived in his thoughts was exceedingly evil. Thoughts = contrivance, intentions, plans, devices, inventions, purposes. August 24. After quiet time this morning, I started making a pot of soup while I was eating my breakfast. The pot wasn’t quite as full as usual as I didn’t have much left for veggies. Didn’t want to wait until after we went shopping as I would want a nice bowl of soup for lunch after we got home from shopping. So I cleaned out of the fridge all the veggies that were left — some fresh parsley, three zucchini, a small package of fresh baby bella mushrooms, and a pound of baby carrots. Also added a cup of lentils, and I did have one onion left. It was going on 9:30 before we left for shopping this morning. That’s because Daddy came down with a migraine and lay down for a while. The soup was done before we left, and was cooled down enough to add cream, then puree, and eat for lunch when we got home. Just had three stops today — Aldi, Big Lots, and WalMart. We were home before 11:30. Got food put away, and it was soon time for lunch. Had a little time before nap to start working on the presentation, trying to get it remade in this computer. Then spent a good while on it after nap. This evening after doing the dishes, I did a little crocheting. August 25. Went to bed early last night with a bad headache and slept in a little later this morning. Just needed that little bit of extra rest. Got up around 6:30, had shower and quiet time. Put amaranth and carrots on to cook for my breakfast. Put a load of wash in the machine. As soon as I had eaten breakfast, Daddy and I went off to Ingles to get some Starbucks coffee with the gift cards we had received some months ago. I ordered a decaf cappuccino, and Lewis regular coffee. The total cost was over $7 which we thought was pretty high, but we weren’t paying out of pocket. We were thankful we were the last ones in line (we had let another lady go ahead of us) because the computer not only wouldn’t read the gift card, but the computer completely shut down. The workers couldn’t get it going so they had to call a manager, and there was one close by. He had to reset the computer and said it would take about five minutes to boot up so the coffee was on the house. Daddy’s coffee was very bitter, and he couldn’t drink it all. Mine was bitter at first, but I added some little packets of raw sugar; and once they dissolved, the coffee tasted fine. We sat at a table for a few minutes and drank coffee. Then Daddy got a shopping cart and we went around the store. Bought a couple tomatoes on sale, and some spices to send to PNG. Looked around for other sales, but didn’t see much. It was around 9:30 when we got home. Laundry was done and ready to hang outside. The Lord has given us a beautiful morning — nice and cool, gentle breeze, and low humidity. Much of the rest of the morning, and part of the afternoon was spent finishing up another youth lesson. Only two more to go. Praise the Lord for His help! Took a break from working on the lesson this morning and made spaghetti for Daddy’s dinner. After finishing the youth lesson this afternoon, I cut Daddy’s hair. This evening, I searched for patterns for ribbon crochet and for men’s crocheted scarves and hats. “14Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch. 15And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of….” Genesis 6:14,15 God told Noah exactly what to do and how to do it. He did not leave Noah to figure it out for himself. If Noah had tried to do things his own way, he never could have been saved, and he never would have known God’s blessings. It is the same for us today. God told us exactly what to do to be saved. “Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.” Isaiah 45:22 “16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” John 3:16,17 “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Acts 4:12 “30And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? 31And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.” Acts 16:30,31 |
