August 31. After we arrived at the girls’ house and I had gotten a few food items put away in the fridge, I put a load of laundry in the washing machine. Then I sat outside in the fresh air and finished my prayer time. Also did a little bit of walking. Just before wash was done, I made and drank a smoothie. Then Daddy and I hung out the clothes. It was around 10:00 when we started working on translation, and the Lord enabled us to get two chapters checked today, chapters 7 and 8. Praise the Lord for His help and for a little bit less difficult portions today. Got corrections made in the computer before fixing some spinach and a hamburger for Daddy’s dinner. Then I warmed up my soup and sat down at the computer with it so I could transfer II Corinthians 7 and 8 to the print file and get the English for chapter 9 ready as well. After nap, I finished getting the information ready that Connie needed. Also finished making up our monthly vitamin order. Helped Connie straighten up a couple parts of our slide show. Searched for past files to know where we left off on printing Sunday school lessons and making visuals for them, and finally found the files I wanted. This evening, I sat outside and spent more time praying. Then I crocheted a while, while Daddy was talking to Amos on the phone. And just before coming home, we had our family time. September 1. Two-thirds of this year have passed already. Wow! Did a mixture of work and “play” today. Our first order of business was to do some shopping at Lidl’s. Once we got back home and had the food put away, we swept the floor and then washed half the floor. We only washed half the floor because we had to move things to the front half of the floor in order to wash the back half of the floor. So next weekend, maybe we can move things from the front to the back and wash the front half of the floor. When all that was done, I got out all my painting supplies and started painting. Didn’t get to do much before it was time to cook Daddy’s hamburger and cook some frozen corn to go with it. Then I had my lunch too. After nap, I did more painting before whipping up a smoothie to take on the road tomorrow and getting together a couple other food items to take too. Daddy and I also had a little talk time together. Did painting again after supper until about 7:30. Then I put all the painting supplies away and had a little snack, and Daddy and I went out for a short walk (a very short walk since it was still quite warm and very humid out). I did take a few cloud pictures along the way, however. “And he said, LORD God of Israel, there is no God like thee, in heaven above, or on earth beneath, who keepest covenant and mercy with thy servants that walk before thee with all their heart.” I Kings 8:23 Oh, that I might walk before the LORD God with all my heart! For who is a God like unto my God? There is none. Who is a God that keeps all His promises and is abundant in mercy? There is none but the LORD God of Israel.

August 29. Thankful for God’s goodness. He is always good. I seem to feel much better after the herbal detox which I finished yesterday. This morning, I cooked some amaranth and ate that for breakfast with seaweed, carrots, and broccoli. When we got to the girls’ house, I took down the big spider web with the big spider that was face to face with the drivers getting in and out of our van and Christy’s car. Removed the spider to another area. It tried to come back at first, but I sent it away again. After that, I gave Connie her good morning hug, put away the fridge food, sang good morning to Fred (Christy’s fish), changed into my walking shoes, sat outside and finished my prayer time, and then did some walking. After setting up the computer, I wrote an e-mail and deleted some. Then Daddy and I checked II Corinthians chapter 5. Once again, we are so thankful for the wisdom and help that God gives. Took a little break after that and went out and walked in the sunshine for a few minutes. Then I set up II Corinthians 5 in the print file and added the English for chapter 6. Spent the afternoon again working on the blog information that Connie needs. Did dishes early this evening so I would be ready for church. Pastor Ogle preached on pride, starting from Esther 3 this evening. We must recognize pride and its dangers in order to avoid destruction. Verse 4-6, 1) Pride makes you hate others just because they are different from you. Prejudice is pride. Don’t judge a people group just because one person from that group has offended or hurt you. 2) Pride will cause you to talk about others, and will cause others to talk about others. 3) chapter 3 verse 1 cf 5:13 and 7:10—Pride can bring accomplishments, but they don’t last. 4) chapter 3:2,5, Pride makes demands. Our pride will demand what may be rightfully ours, but it is better to let others demand that for us. 5) 3:5, Pride leads to anger; anger is manifest by pride. It comes out of a heart that is frustrated because we think we’re not getting what we deserve. “I am the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.” Psalm 81:10 Started memorizing this verse today, meditating on what it means for me. First, just to think that Jehovah, the self-existent, eternal One has declared that He is my God. It is He who brought me out of the land of Egypt, the land of bondage. I was in bondage to Satan, to sin, and to the world, and Jehovah God brought me out. Amen! And here is a wonderful promise—if I open my mouth wide, He will fill it. I got to thinking, what will He fill it with? His Word (Psalm 119:131,172; Isaiah 59:21; Jeremiah 1:9); praise (Psalm 34:1; 51:15; 71:8); wisdom and kindness (Psalm 37:30; Proverbs 31:26); a new song (Psalm 40:3); good things (Psalm 103:5); laughter and singing (Psalm 126:2); truth (Proverbs 8:7), to name a few, August 30. A busy morning. Showered and dressed, Had morning drinks, worked on Bible memory, and read Bible. Washed dishes. Ate breakfast and started prayer time. And I was still ready by 8:15 to go shopping. We were happy to get an early start. Only WalMart and a quick stop at Aldi today so we were back home by 10:00. After getting the food put away, I started making soup—cut up beets, carrots, celery, and apple and added water, bouillon, butter, and herbs and spices. Set the crockpot on high, and then it was time to sit down a while. Added notes to yesterday’s journal entry. Then about 11:30, Daddy suggested going out to eat. So we decided to try Chinatown Buffet today. We were happy to get there early, and the food was good too. We were thankful for time after nap to check II Corinthians chapter 6. Once again we thank the Lord for His help through some very difficult places. Afterward, I got corrections made in the computer file and then set up the chapter in the print file. Also added the English for chapter 7. By mid-afternoon, my soup was done cooking. I let it cool a bit and then added a can of organic black beans and some whipping cream. Then just before supper, I pureed and bottled it and put it all in the fridge. After supper, I worked more on the material that Connie is needing for our web site. We went for a little walk a little after 8:00, but it was still pretty humid out, and my legs are quite weak so it was a very little walk. August 27. After quiet time, and breakfast, I got last week’s journal notes into a file to send to Connie while Daddy went out to find batteries for his mouse. His mouse had died last night. But now it has been revived, so Daddy and I were able to check II Corinthians chapters 2 and 3. There were some pretty hard verses in that section, and we do praise the Lord for His enabling. After we finished that, I had a morning snack and made the corrections in the Corinthians file. Then Daddy and I went out to find a hand towel to use in the bathroom. Went to Salvation Army Thrift Store first, but didn’t find anything. Then went to Big Lots. Didn’t find a towel there either, but found some markdown food items which we bought. Finally found a towel at our third stop, Bargain Hunt. This afternoon, I got chapters 2 and 3 of II Corinthians set up in the print file, and added the English for chapter 4. The rest of the afternoon and into the evening, I worked on Sunday school lessons. I was trying to choose some yarn to use for a crocheted flower for the baby hat when Cilla called. After we talked a while, Daddy and I went for a little walk. Then we worked again on the Bible study we’d been doing. And then I got the flower crocheted and attached to the hat. “….for I know the things that come into your mind, every one of them.” Ezekiel 11:5b There is not one thought that we can hide from the Lord. August 28. After quiet time, and breakfast, we headed for C&C’s house. It was about 9:00 when we got there. The first thing I did after getting food put away in fridge was to get some walking exercise. Then I turned on the computer, looked at e-mails, transferred a few pictures to the computer and edited them, sent journal notes and a couple pics to Connie. After that Daddy and I checked II Corinthians 4. Even though it was a short chapter, it took a lot of contemplation and mulling over how to make changes. Praise the Lord that we can draw upon His wisdom! During my lunch time, I made the corrections in the Corinthians file and set up chapter 4 in the print file. Also added the English for chapter 5. August 26. We were a few minutes later getting to C&C’s house this morning because of the extra time that it takes to make and drink all the herbal detox drinks that come in the morning. I also needed to cook something to eat for breakfast. Pastor Ogle was in California today, and Pastor Surrett did the preaching. In the early morning meeting, his text was I Corinthians 1:1-3, The Call of God. God is calling every one of us: to salvation, to sanctification, to service. Even though God’s call is not audible or mystical, God still specifically calls men today, and you must listen to God’s call in your life. 1) Called saints, called unto salvation. 2) To them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus; called us to be holy, to be different from the world around us. In order for us to be like Jesus, we are going to have to change. If the churches are changing to be like the world, then the world is reaching the church, not the church the world. We should not be comparing ourselves with the world and saying, I’m not as bad as they. We should be looking to Christ for our standard of holiness. The call to salvation is also a call to holiness. 3) Called to be an apostle; called to go out and represent Christ. God is calling people to serve him, but few are listening. Parents are raising their children to make money, rather than to serve the Lord. Every person should consider serving the Lord in a full time ministry. Not all will be led to a foreign field or the pastorate, etc., but everyone should be serving the Lord full time. God doesn’t just call a few to serve Him and leave it up to the rest to decide what they will do with their lives. God calls every Christian to serve Him; when God calls we should listen. In the second meeting, his text was I Corinthians 1:4-9, “In EVERYTHING ye are ENRICHED by Him. Our riches in Christ: Rich in grace, the gospel, gifts, growth. You ought to be thankful for and use the tremendous riches you have in Christ. 1) Grace: wonderful benefits we don’t deserve. We are all sinners deserving of eternity in hell, but by God’s grace we have received salvation. We do not deserve salvation. We are RICH in grace. 2) The Gospel: utterance in giving out the gospel; knowledge in the gospel that we didn’t have before we were saved. We who are saved can understand spiritual things that the unsaved can’t understand. The testimony of Christ is confirmed in us. Our lives are a testimony to the gospel. 3) Gifts: Ye come behind in no gift. Spiritual gifts are motivation to serve God. Covet earnestly the best gifts. Everyone can in some way help someone with a need. Church works best when everybody does what God motivates him to do. 4) Growth: Who shall also confirm you unto the end. Christ is in the process of establishing and confirming you. It is on-going, helping you to grow. He will do so until the end. The maturing process happens slowly. Every Christian has a choice about whether to grow or not. Got has enriched us with everything we need in order to grow. His goal is to guide us unto blamelessness. In between times, I had time to pray and crochet. Sewed the buttons onto the little dress I had made and finished crocheting the baby hat. Maybe I’ll make a little flower to put on the hat. It was after 3:00 before Daddy and I got settled down for nap after getting back to the apartment, and about 4:15 when we got up. We were thankful for a good nap. The rest of the afternoon and a good part of the evening was spent painting. I think painting is my favorite hobby. Time goes by so quickly while I’m busy painting. I get so absorbed in what I’m doing and don’t even notice that time is passing me by. Also this evening, I washed up the few dirty dishes that were at the sink, Daddy and I went out for a stretch and a little walk, and we did more Bible study on how and when Jesus answered those who falsely accused Him and sought to persecute Him and trick Him into doing or saying something wrong. August 24. This morning, I started the herbal detox program I had ordered. It took quite a while to go through each step and get things ready. It involves a lot of drinking of different formulas. A little after 8:00, Daddy started loading up the car; and as soon as I had finished breakfast, I got a few more things together and we headed for the girls’ house. Got food items put away in the fridge, started the laundry, made and drank a smoothie. Set up computer and looked at e-mails. Clothes were done washing, and Daddy and I hung them out. Then we checked the first chapter of II Corinthians. Had an early lunch, and then got II Corinthians 1 set up in the print file, as well as the English for chapter 2. After nap, I worked on the music for the Pidgin song book for a while. Later I made zoodles and cooked a potful of those with mushrooms and celery. Enjoyed a bowlful when it was done cooking. This evening, I helped Christy by drying some of the dishes as there were tons of them. Then I started crocheting a baby hat to go with the blanket and little dress. We had our family devotional time, and then Daddy took a shower before we headed home because we haven’t had hot water in the evenings at the apartment. “And so were the churches established in the faith, and increased in number daily.” Acts 16:5 Because the churches were made strong in the faith, people came to Christ and were added to the church daily. August 25. The day started with quiet time. After I had breakfast, we went out to do a little more shopping. It was 9:00, just in time for Hobby Lobby to open. We went there first so I could get some more painting canvas and some buttons for the little girl’s dress. From there, we went to Lidl’s and got a couple items that were weekend only sales, plus a few other items that we would have gotten on Thursday if we had gone there. Came home and got things put away. Had a green drink, and then got down to business (and I do mean down—on my hands and knees) cleaning the bathroom floor. What a job! But I’m thankful to have that floor clean. It makes me feel much happier about taking a shower in there. Sat down for a few minutes after that and then started Daddy’s dinner—tuna noodles and lima beans. Put the water on to boil for the noodles. Got out the noodles and the can of tuna. Oh, oh. What are we going to use to open the can of tuna? No can opener. Daddy was lying down because he had had a migraine, but he said he felt better enough to go out and look for a can opener. So he went up the road to Bargain Hunt and found a nice can opener. Praise the Lord! The noodles were done by the time he got back, and everything was added except for the tuna. After I added the tuna, he put some on a plate to warm up a bit in the microwave, added some lima beans to his plate, and had his dinner. I warmed up some of my sweet tater soup for my lunch. After I ate, I worked a bit on crocheting the baby hat that I started last night. After nap, I was planning to do painting, but spent the whole time just getting the canvas ready for painting. After supper, I was playing a computer game, when Daddy suddenly remembered that C&C would be waiting for us to come over and play a table game. So we put away what we were doing and headed over to their house. “And Solomon loved the LORD, walking in the statutes of David his father: only he sacrificed and burnt incense in high places.” I Kings 3:3 Now here is a sad thing: Solomon loved the LORD. He walked in the statutes of his father David. But then the sad word – Only….
August 22. The first half of the morning, I wrote several e-mails. Also put a coat of varnish on the bird painting. Then Daddy and I started the checking of I Corinthians 15 and nearly finished the chapter before he had to leave for Gaffney to pick up the girls’ milk. After he left, I got a cupful of soup to curb my hunger and then sat down to do the corrections we had made thus far in I Corinthians 15. After lunch, while I was waiting for Daddy to get back from Gaffney, I went ahead and set up the first fifty verses of I Corinthians 15 in the print file. Then I searched for crocheted baby dress patterns on the web. This afternoon, I put a second coat of varnish on the painting. Also Daddy and I finished checking I Corinthians 15, and I got the corrections made for that part and got it set up in the print file. Also added English for chapter 16 to the print file. Praise the Lord for His help and guidance today. This evening, I got out the varnish again and touched up a few places on the painting, and it is now done. I am grateful to the Lord for His help with that project. A good message by Bro. Paul Crow who was the speaker at EBC this evening. II Timothy 4:11; Acts 13:13; 15:36-41. In II Timothy 4, Paul has 180 degree change in his attitude. Who made the difference in John Mark’s life? Who was the human instrument that God used? Let’s take a look at Barnabas. Acts 4, Barnabas spent his life investing in other people. Like Barnabas, you and I must invest our lives in the lives of others. I Corinthians 5:9-11, we are to have some acquaintances who are fornicators, covetous, etc. so that we can share the gospel with them. Invest your life in the lives of people. When you begin to invest, not every investment will pay off. Paul’s initial investment in John Mark did not pay off. Acts 4:32-37, Barnabas’s first sacrifice was a sacrifice of substance. He was willing to sacrifice it all in order to invest in the lives of other believers in the Jerusalem church. Acts 9:26-27, Barnabas befriended Saul (Paul) and believed what he had to say. What if Barnabas had been wrong about Saul? Barnabas put his social acquaintances on the line in order to try to help Saul. Barnabas was willing to sacrifice friends in order to pour his life into Saul. Acts 13:1ff, the order is always Barnabas and Saul. However, Barnabas fades away more and more while the spotlight is on Paul more and more until the end. Barnabas made a sacrifice of self. Paul’s investment in John Mark didn’t work out, but John became profitable to Paul because of Barnabas’s investment. You must invest in the lives of people. August 23. A lovely, cool morning. Headed out to shop a little after 8:00. Only had two stops today, WalMart and Aldi, and just a few items to buy at each place so were back by 9:30. However, after we brought groceries in and put fridge stuff away, we went out again—across the street to Mighty Dollar and to Big Lots to look for a strainer and a funnel. Found a set of small strainers at Mighty Dollar, plus a couple other items; and found a set of funnels at Big Lots, plus a couple dispensers of hand soap. After we got back home and had everything put away, Daddy and I checked the last chapter of I Corinthians. Praise the Lord, that book is now complete. There were only a few corrections to make so it didn’t take long to do that and get it set up in the print file. Then I went ahead and set things up to start checking translation of II Corinthians. And then it was lunch time. This afternoon, I worked on ladies’ lessons and finished up a series on Proverbs 31. This evening, I washed the dishes, finished crocheting the baby dress (it just needs buttons now), and studying with Daddy the ways of Christ in responding to accusations and questions.
August 20. Up about 6:15 this morning. Laundry service day. Had to strip bed and put linens as well as towels and washcloths in a plastic bag outside the door by 8:00. Then they were picked up to be cleaned, and others were returned to us later in the morning. As soon as I was dressed and had eaten breakfast and started quiet time, I went to work making the weekly soup. When that was done, I had more prayer time, and then Daddy and I checked I Corinthians 14. Praise the Lord for His help with that task! When we finished that, I had a snack of fruit and yogurt. Then we remade the bed and put out clean towels and washcloths, and even had some extra towels and washcloths to put away for later in the week. When the bed was made, I put a pot of rice on to cook for Daddy’s dinner. Then I made the corrections in the chapter we checked and set that up in the print file. Also added English for chapter 15. Made a vitamin order before getting my lunch. Set up last week’s journal notes in a file for Connie and got an e-mail ready to send off to her with those notes and a couple photos. Then it was time for nap. After nap, I pureed the soup and worked on a culture lesson for MTP (Missionary Training Program). There was quite a stack of dishes to do this evening. Later on, Daddy and I worked more on studying the life of Jesus and writing down notes for GIBC. August 21. As soon as Connie was ready this morning, we went off to the Polkville discount store. I was looking for some snacks, but we also looked for whatever else we can use that seemed fairly fresh and the price was right. Didn’t really find a whole lot today. On the way back, we stopped at WalMart to get bananas and water. Then we went by the apartment to drop things off and get Daddy’s bread. As we headed back to the girls’ house, Daddy made a quick stop at Mighty Dollar to look for bread but didn’t find anything. This afternoon, I looked for free pictures for a while. Then worked on translation of missionary songs. and got a couple more songs written. “Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world.” Acts 15:18 Only God knows how the world began and how everything in it was made. |
