October 24. Went right to sleep and slept pretty well. Woke up around 5:00 when I heard Christy in the dining room rummaging for her vitamins. Dozed off for a little while, but woke up when she left for work. Lay there until about 5:45 and then got up. Christy had to leave for work before 5:30 this morning. This morning, I got journal notes from this past week ready to go to Connie. Also worked on a Bible study lesson for her to use and found some pictures of bilums that she wanted. Even though my day started early, it seemed like the morning went by lickety split. Soon it was nap time, and I was very happy for a nap. Christy pulled in just a few minutes after I got up; and around 2:30, we went off to do shopping. First a quick stop at Hobby Lobby to get some crochet cotton I didn’t get the other day. Then to Aldi, WalMart, and Meat market before arriving back home just about 4:30. I was tired again by then. Put food away and relaxed for a while with crocheting. Had a bite to eat. Finished up the Bible study lesson. Read e-mails. Had supper. Did dishes. Daddy called, and he had had a long day. Traveled as far as Beckley, WV, and found a motel there. “14How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? 15And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things...! 17So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10:14,15,17 Faith is so necessary for salvation, but faith comes by hearing. How can the lost call on the Lord to save them if they haven’t believed on Christ? And how can they believe on Christ if they’ve never heard the gospel? And where are the preachers who will go and take the gospel to them? And where are those who will send them? How many souls are still lost in darkness because too many people have cared too little to forsake all and follow Christ? The laborers are so few, and the harvest is so great. October 25. A pretty chilly day. Didn’t even get up to 70º today. But, after all, it is near the end of October. This morning, I did some straightening up around the house. Then Daddy arrived home around 11:15. Had gotten an early start, and it wasn’t as far as he thought. Praise the Lord for bringing him safely home. After he and Connie unloaded the car, we three went off to Crossroads to see if things were marked down more or not. Since they weren’t, we brought Connie back home, and Daddy and I went off to Subway so he could get some lunch. When we got back home, I got some lunch for myself. Then we had a nap. After nap, we spent some time on the phone with Russell who had asked me to call so he could help with my health issues. (I have been working through things on my own using instructions in his book, but he really wanted to help.) He was very helpful, friendly, and easy to talk to; and I appreciated his concern. He does have a genuine desire to help people. After that, I opened the boxes of supplements that came today and tried to write down in a simple and orderly manner how to use the products. Did some research on other products as well. After supper, I went through all the things Daddy brought home from his trip and made a list so that I can write thank you notes. “And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.” Romans 11:6 Grace is grace and works is works, and they cannot both bring salvation. Salvation is only by grace, through faith. Grace is a gift. It cannot be earned by works. (Ephesians 2:8,9) Works receives wages. Grace is free. Praise God for His all-sufficient abundant grace! Amen!
