November 14. We thank the Lord for some sunshine today and a dry enough day to hang the laundry outside. Neither Daddy nor I got much sleep last night. I could tell Daddy was coming down with a cold. He kept clearing his throat with that very loud growl. Around midnight, I finally suggested that he get up and get some aspirin or something. Then I gave him the Vicks to use to help clear his throat. I didn’t hear him any more after that, but it was still after 1:00 before I got to sleep. After doing laundry and making up the bed with clean sheets, I deleted some e-mails, wrote a couple e-mails, wrote a thank-you note and put it out in the mail. Did a little Bible study. Ate lunch. And got ready to go to Cliffside for our medical exams for our PNG visas/work permits. Left the house around 12:45 and arrived at Dr. Green’s office a little before 1:15. Filled out the routine papers for a first-time visit. Then we were called back to start the examination process. By the time we left his office, it was 3:15—two hours for a routine physical. We were thankful that he wasn’t too busy today so they weren’t in a rush to get us in and out. We had no idea things were going to take that long. Stopped at the Cliffside post office to mail an overseas letter. We wanted to buy overseas stamps too, but they didn’t have any. Arrived home a little before 4:00. Very tired. Lay down for a nap around 4:30 and slept about an hour. Had supper. Did a little Bible study. Now I need to do dishes. “14And it shall be when thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, What is this? that thou shalt say unto him, By strength of hand the LORD brought us out from Egypt, from the house of bondage: 16….for by strength of hand the LORD brought us forth out of Egypt.” Exodus 13:14,16b It is only by strength of the LORD’s hand that we can be delivered from bondage. We are powerless to save ourselves. November 15. As soon as I had had breakfast and part of quiet time this morning, Daddy and I headed out for Piedmont Imaging in Spartanburg. Finished praying along the way. At PI, we had chest x-rays done—another step in the processing of our paper work for PNG. We stopped at Big Lots afterward to kill a little time and get something to snack on. Then Daddy filled up his mug and the gas tank at Pilot. Last stop before heading home was the place where we picked up the raw milk for the girls. Also worked on the crocheted Bible cover while we were on the road and now that is done. It was close to 1:00 when we got back. Had lunch and nap. Sent out a few e-mail updates. Had supper, did dishes, and got ready for church. Pastor Ogle’s teaching this evening was from Exodus 25:22-30, The Table of Shewbread, a picture of communion. “You must take Jesus, the Bread of Life, before you can have fellowship with God. Relationship precedes fellowship.” “21And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night: 22He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.” Exodus 13:21,22 By day and night, the Lord went before them, He led them in the way, He gave them light, and He was always present with them. “And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.” Exodus 33:14 “….for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” Hebrews 13:5
