July 6. After Lewis and I spent a good amount of time searching for the flash drive that I use for transferring files from his computer to mine, we finally gave up. We could not think of any other places to look. All we could think of is that a rat carried it off somewhere. We are both pretty sure that it was sitting out on the desk last night, but there was no sign of it this morning. But what would the rat want with a flash drive? We do know that they carry away large items and somehow manage to maneuver them through small spaces and hide them in the wall or wherever they are making a nest — rags, plastic bags, bottle lids, sticks, etc. After our fruitless search, I wrote a couple e-mails — sent progress report to Pastor Ogle and a wee note to C&C. It took a while for the modem to work well enough to send them, but, praise the Lord, they finally went out. Was thankful for the Lord’s help today in writing the monthly update. Topias came and cut more firewood for us. He is strong and is a hard worker and deserved good wages. There was no school again today as Anna Jean helped somebody carry coffee. Ana thought that she was going to be carrying coffee, too (for the church), but they decided to have a plane come in and get it instead. LBC is making their yearly collection of coffee from the church members to meet the amount decided on for their five-year plan to collect enough money to build a new church building. Since Anna Jean wasn’t here for school, Ana came and worked on answering questions for her lessons, coloring her outreach pictures, and preparing to teach the next outreach lesson. I was very, very tired today and was thankful for the time to take an extra-long nap. Just the strain of trying to get through the day with my back out makes me quite tired. In the evening, I worked on the II Corinthians outline. July 7. After breakfast and quiet time, I revised the monthly update I had written yesterday as I wasn’t quite satisfied with what I had done. Then I got the updates for mailing all updated and onto a flash drive to send to Christy. This afternoon, I wrote an e-mail to C&C with acknowledgments for the e-mail updates and got that update onto the flash drive. Daddy and I went out in the sunshine for a little while, and then Daddy went on up to the airstrip. I sent the camera with him so he could get pictures of the airstrip in case MAF wants to see some pictures before reopening the airstrip if they approve. Somebody went and burned the grass right in the middle of the airstrip even though the pilot has told them not to do that and Daddy has reminded them several times. They apparently do not pass the word on to others.
