September 7. Back to school for a few more days. Dallas was not able to be with us today, as he is feeling quite sick with this respiratory illness that he has had. This morning, I started working on the next Revelation lesson and spent time on that in the afternoon and evening as well. Finished the first part of it and now need to write Study Questions. Praise the Lord, we were finally able to send out an e-mail this evening. Hadn’t been able to get any service over the weekend up through this afternoon. “26) I make a decree, That in every dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel: for he is the living God, and stedfast for ever, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed, and his dominion shall be even unto the end. 27) He delivereth and rescueth, and he worketh signs and wonders in heaven and in earth, who hath delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.” Daniel 6:26,27 O that men would see God’s power in our lives and tremble and fear before Almighty God! September 8. Another lovely, fog-free, blue-sky morning. Praise the Lord for all His blessings! It was a somewhat hard morning for us and the school students. Matthew, Daniel, and Tomas decided to come early this morning to change some of the roofing iron and get the house ready for the solar installation. Since there was no previous warning for the school students, it was a big disappointment for them, and especially Amos. Amos got so discouraged that he left class and went to his house. Daddy talked with the rest of the class and tried to encourage them that they need to learn to stand strong in times of difficulty. This whole situation with the house has been a trying time for all of us, and we all need to stand together. After Daddy talked with the other students, they went down and talked with Amos. A little while later, he came back, and I was so thankful to see a smile on his face again. He had done the right thing and taken time to pray. Also, the others sought to encourage him. Then he went out and apologized to the ones working on the roof for having ill-will toward them, even though they didn’t know. Anyway, we are thankful to have that job done, and also to have a skylight in the kitchen. It is nearly always dark in there where I cook, do dishes, prepare food, etc. Even though the morning was fog-free, and the day was mostly cloudless, the skies were not smoke-free. Things are very dry, and a lot of burning is still covering the mountain sides. A lot of ashes have been coming into the house. And this evening, we are getting a little bit of rain. During the morning and afternoon, I had bits of time to continue working on the Revelation lesson I started yesterday. I was encouraged in studying about that old serpent, the Devil, and Satan, the accuser of the brethren, that, even though at times God allows him to test us, God always keeps His promises; and He will not allow us to be tempted above that we are able, but will, with the temptation also make a way to escape. In a way, we feel badly that the school students have to go through all this with us; yet, in another way, we realize that it is another learning experience, as they will face many trials when they get out on the battle front. This afternoon, Nuanda and Ana came, and Nuanda tried to help Daddy fix the toilet in the spare bathroom, but the parts from the new toilet bowl don’t match up with the old toilet tank so looks like we’ll have to get a new tank too. After they tried to fix the toilet, we talked a while before they went home. Then I fixed supper; and after supper, I added seasonings to the leftover pumpkin bits with its broth and pureed it for a little pumpkin soup. Also added water and more seasonings to the stiff mashed root veggies and pureed those. Then I did the dishes and afterward got ready for a bath. A little later, Amos came to share his heart a bit. September 9. The morning felt very warm and humid. Judy came early and did the laundry. The sun comes up a little earlier now so it was already getting bright out. Mike and Amos came early, too, and finished cutting the grass;. Mata raked, and she and the two boys piled the grass into boxes and carried it away. Mike and Amos also helped Daddy change the oil in the generator. It was well after 9:00 before classes started. We were thankful for no interruptions today, except for phone calls and texts between Daddy, Bryan, and SIL to see about plane flights for next week. SIL said they can probably do the flights if MAF can’t. Mid-afternoon, the temperature dropped quickly, and the Lord sent us a heavy rain, more rain than we have had in some time. Worked more on the Revelation lesson off and on today. Mike came this evening to share some things that were on his heart. How we appreciate these school students! They are not only our students, and our children in the faith, but they are truly our friends—willing to receive correction, but also willing to humbly intreat us when they see something they think is not right; and willing to share their burdens with us as well as willing to bear our burdens with us.
