August 9. Connie’s birthday—43 today. This morning we did do laundry. And even hung the clothes outside. It was a very cool morning, and overcast but not raining. A little before 9:00, Daddy and I headed to Dr. Cook’s for adjustments. Then went to Dollar Tree to get a card for Connie and one for Daddy and some general birthday cards because my supply has dwindled down. After we got home, I looked through the stack of cards and discovered I hadn’t gotten one for Connie after all. Hmmm! Guess I’ll have to make one. So that’s what I did — started right away making a card for Connie and finished it after nap. Daddy went off to Gaffney around 11:30 to pick up C&C’s milk, and I went to the kitchen then and made goulash for Daddy’s dinner and for supper tomorrow night. We didn’t get to nap until a little before 2:00, and it was after 3:00 when I got up so the afternoon was short. After finishing the card, I swept the office floor, washed the dishes, and freshened up for church. Still had some time left so transferred pictures to the computer from my camera and worked on fixing those until time to leave for church. It was a blessing to pray with Mrs. O’Malley this evening. Pastor Ogle finished up the teaching on the Ten Commandments, covering the last four. “11And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat? 12And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat. 13And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.” Genesis 3:11-13 Sin brought pride. Both Adam and Eve were too proud to admit that they had sinned. They wanted someone else to take the blame. Adam blamed the woman, and he also blamed God. Eve blamed the serpent. August 10. Back was hurting last night and realized during the night that it is probably my kidneys so increased the cranberry and liquid intake today. It was shopping day. Had a little time to start working on the progress report before we went shopping. I didn’t think we had much shopping to do since we had been gone for a few days, but there was more than I thought. It was about 11:00 when we got back from shopping. After getting food put away, I sent Connie journal notes and pictures. Then I had lunch, worked more on the progress report, and had nap. After nap, I made a fruit salad and finished up the progress report. I had forgotten to put the cream in the fridge to get cold so put it in the freezer for a couple hours so I could whip it to put on our fruit. After supper, I whipped up the cream and spread it on top of the fruit. The bowl of fruit with whipped cream on top I called a “fruit cake” and was for celebrating Connie’s and Daddy’s birthdays. After I did dishes this evening, we all sat down together and enjoyed “fruit cake.” August 11. Daddy’s birthday—71 today. Did laundry this morning and hung it out, but the rains came before noon and before the wash was dry. Daddy brought things in while I was busy in the kitchen, and most things went in the dryer. A few things were hung up around the house to dry. After doing laundry and having breakfast and quiet time, I was busy in the kitchen most of the morning. Made half dozen 16.9 oz. bottles of lemon/ginger soda water and two dozen bottles of Celtic sea salt water. Then I made a pot of sweet potato soup. After putting the soup on to cook and cleaning up the mess, I was ready to sit down a while and relax. After the soup was done and had cooled, I whipped up some for my lunch. Then whipped up the rest and put in a coffee mug and in jars. In the morning, I’ll warm up the soup in the coffee mug to have for lunch tomorrow, and will take a jug of soup for lunches at Ruthie’s. After nap, I stitched the pocket that was coming loose on my black dress and finished packing. I think I’m all ready for tomorrow now. Thankful to the Lord for His help in getting the monthly update written this evening and some copies printed out to be mailed.
