December 9. Very cold this morning, but not as cold as we expected. About 28º here in our back yard, but lower out in the open. Around 20º or lower was predicted. The sun was shining brightly, however, and it was a lovely day for drying clothes. This morning has been mostly a house keeping day - dishes needed to be washed; laundry had to be done; and cooking did too - oat groats for breakfast, lentil mushroom soup for lunch. Part of the morning and afternoon, I worked on the translation print file. After nap, I wrote a letter, washed the storm window on the laundry room door, got the laundry in, hung up clothes, fixed rice and a pan of broccoli and cauliflower for supper. “Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.” II Corinthians 7:1 Because God has given us those wonderful promises in chapter 6 verses 16-18, how important it is that we be clean both in body and in spirit and that we work on perfecting holiness in the fear of God! December 10. It was about 6:50 before I woke up this morning. Had a shower, quiet time, breakfast. Wrote one e-mail, marked down some prayer requests from some others. Found a box for Ruthie’s doilies and got them all packaged up and ready to mail. Washed out my other pair of warm socks. Looked for a pattern for a chunky scarf, and later printed it out. Got another ladies’ meeting lesson written. Started crocheting the scarf, but discovered the yarn was all tangled up so spent about a half hour untangling before I could actually work on the scarf. In the evening, I realized that I had not taken any pictures of the doilies so undid the package and removed the doilies, took some pictures, and then repackaged the doilies. Christy finished folding, stuffing, labeling, stamping, and sealing all the newsletters yesterday so those are ready to be mailed tomorrow. A couple doilies Mom has made Computer TroubleDecember 11. Another frosty morning. Third morning in a row in the 20’s. Cloudy today, however, and rain expected tonight so it feels a lot colder today.
It was a long time before I got to sleep last night for some reason, and even after that, I kept waking up every so often. Finally a little after 5:00 a.m., I went to sleep and didn’t wake up until after 7:00. Tried to transfer pictures from the camera to the computer and found that it wasn’t communicating. Tried transferring them using the SD card, but that wouldn’t work either. Last night the mouse quit working, and a message said that it had malfunctioned. Come to find out, however, that it is the computer drives (external drives such as USB drives and SD card reader, etc.) that have malfunctioned. Christy and Connie researched for a while to see if they could fix things, and Christy tried for a while, but couldn’t make anything change. So looks like I’ll have to take the computer to Office Max. I had planned to do backups this week, but don’t know if I’ll be able to do that or not since the computer doesn’t recognize any external devices. I was thankful for a good long nap this afternoon. Just hope I sleep as well tonight. I was happy to talk to Daddy this afternoon. Have really been missing him. It will be a long while yet until mid-January. He said they have been having heavy rains at night. And there are lots of rats in the house, but there was no rat poison in town. Said he preached on Sunday. In the morning service, the people sang for a long time, and David took a long time telling people why he was stepping down as pastor. So he didn’t get much time to preach in the morning, but had more time in the afternoon.
