September 3. Praise the Lord for a good night’s rest. Daddy said he slept well too. (He had not slept well in town since he came down with his cold.) We finished unpacking all the boxes this morning and getting things put away. We are thankful for the Lord’s help with that. Sunny came around 7:30 and washed clothes. I thought there would only be one load, but there were easily two. With the dry weather and strong winds, it didn’t take long at all for those to dry. After she washed and hung things out and refilled the buckets, I had her tackle the kitchen cupboards. The cockroaches thought it was their home and graveyard. We took everything out, and she swept out all the cockroach messes and the dead cockroaches. Ugh! Then she washed the shelves with hot, soapy bleach water, dried them off, and put everything back. After that, she swept the floors, had a cup of coffee and some cookies, and practiced keyboard. After everything that had been in boxes was put away, I started writing yesterday’s journal notes. Then I peeled and cut up a few carrots and set them on to cook for dinner. Went out and took the clothes down while the food was cooking. This afternoon, I finally got my suitcase emptied and Daddy put it away. This evening, I finished setting up Ephesians for printing and got Philippians ready to start. September 4. It was a cold morning so we welcomed the opportunity to get out in the sunshine for a while. My computer project for today was an English Revelation study about the beast that arises out of the sea, and the beast that arises out of the earth. It is a difficult portion, and I didn’t even finish half the section on the first beast. Matthew came this morning to get the utensils for serving the Lord’s Supper. Daddy invited him in so he could talk with him. We did give him the communion cups and tray; and he said he will probably wait until next Sunday so he can teach the church again on the meaning, importance, and command for remembering the Lord’s death. This evening, I printed computer lessons for Judy for this coming week. Started writing in my journal when Nuanda came to visit and tell us about some of the problems associated with his ministry and other things at LIBC. After he left, we had snack, and then I continued writing in my journal. September 5. While I was making pancakes this morning, Matthew came again to talk with Daddy. After breakfast and quiet time, Daddy and I went out for a short walk along the trail to the airstrip, across the airstrip, and then back. It was a beautiful morning, and we were thankful that the Lord still gives us strength to do some light walking. When we returned, I had a little snack, read the first chapter of Numbers, and wrote in my journal. Later in the morning, the winds became strong and blustery again. Looks like dry season is still with us for a while. Nuanda had mentioned yester-eve that the two coffee houses on the hill just above the airstrip had caught fire and burned down while we were gone. Someone had started a grass fire, and the wind had carried fire to the two houses which quickly went up in flame. We hadn’t even noticed when we came in on the plane Thursday that they weren’t there. I guess our minds were on other things. He also said that in Pinata, ten houses had burned down from a fire that someone started down at Yonupeq. The wind had carried the fire all the way to the top of the mountain, and it had burned all the gardens and coffee gardens along the way and then hit those ten houses. Continued work on the Revelation study today and finished it early this evening. Also got a couple weeks’ journal notes ready to go to C&C. Right now, we are not getting any connection to send, or even receive, anything. Mike came this evening before I got to do dishes, and we spent some time talking with him about the churches, the missionary training course, etc. September 6. Sunny came and watched the door for a while this morning until things got quiet. Judy came to let us know that she was going to carry coffee up to the road so would come later (after she got back) to fill up the washing machine. Nehemiah came to get his phone charged, and he helped us set up the recliner. We thank the Lord for sending Moqa along today with bananas to buy. Daddy spent a good amount of time trying to get e-mails to work. Then he called Christy to make sure the problem wasn’t earthlink. Nope, not earthlink. So it must be either the towers or the modems. Christy said that Rod and Staff called her to let her know that one box of schoolbooks came back to them, and the other three boxes will probably come back as whoever labeled them for mailing did not put the country name on them. So now we need to pray that the other three boxes will be returned soon and they can get them resent. We are sorry that this will mean an extra expense for Rod and Staff and also will delay the beginning of school. However, the Lord knew all about what was going on, and we leave the matter in His hands. He can still see that the books get here quickly. We didn’t go for much of a walk today because SIL was scheduled to come, and Daddy would be going up the airstrip to give money to the pilot to take to SIL shipping to pay for our shipment of boxes. But we did go outside for a while in the sunshine. I wrote another Revelation study, finishing chapter 13, the second beast — that study was only a page and a half, but I didn’t want to add thoughts of my own or of anyone else’s either so took my time to think things through. I just tried to present the facts in an orderly fashion. One can certainly see how instability in the world’s governments today is preparing the world to accept the rule of the antichrist. I proofread the two studies (the one I did yesterday, and then the one I did today), and Daddy also proofread them as I usually have him do to make sure I am sticking to what is plainly taught in the Scripture and not adding thoughts of my own or others. So those studies are now ready to send to Connie whenever we can find a solution to the e-mail problem. This evening, I worked on the setup of Philippians.
