May 3. Praise the Lord for the rain He sent in the evening and in the early hours of the darkness and quiet. This morning He sent us sunshine again. The morning has been busy. There is no more crocheting to do right now, but I did more cleaning out and reorganizing in the storage closet. The box of scrap wood pieces was overflowing so I got out another box and put all the thick scraps into it. Then I got out a clean box for the little scraps and threw away the old, dirty, damaged box. Also answered the door quite a few times — a number of phones to charge, two people who brought eggs, a couple people retrieving their phones. Was thankful to get outside in the sunshine a few minutes too. Sat down for a little while at the ACER and wrote a short e-mail. Tried to send it along with the one I wrote yesterday, but couldn’t get any service. Then I sat down at the HP and did Bible study in Exodus and wrote a bit in my journal. After that, I got journal notes into the file for sending to Connie and started proofreading them. After dinner, before nap, I finished proofreading and now have them ready to take to the ACER and send whenever we can get a connection. After nap and in the evening, I worked on the April progress report and nearly finished it before bedtime. Part of the evening was needed for time with someone very dear to my heart. I was glad to hear his voice, to know that he was feeling much better today, and also that he was able to get a COVID test for his return flight. “4) Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. 5) But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. 6) All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.” (Isaiah 53:4-6) May 4. Very clear skies this morning. It was refreshing to get outside in the sunshine a while after the day warmed up a bit. The afternoon was quite hot, up to 90º. This morning, I finished a mending job. Then I tackled the bottom cupboard in the entry way and got that all cleaned out. So that cupboard is now ready to be dismantled. Got most of the papers organized that were in that cupboard. Just have a few more to work on. Answered the door a few times while I was working. One knocker was Yanahdo, so she came in to hear some reading from the gospel of John and then have me pray for her. She also wanted a handkerchief to wipe her weepy eye so I gave her one that I rarely use. After having a snack and going out in the sunshine a while, I spent time in Bible study in Exodus and wrote a bit in my journal. Then I finished the progress report that I started yesterday. Didn’t feel like doing much this afternoon, the weather was so hot. Tried to work on the quarterly newsletter, but the heat made it hard to concentrate. Thankful to have gotten a good start on that this evening before and after talking with Daddy. “16) This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. 17) For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.” (Galatians 5:16,17) Yes, there is victory in the battle against the flesh for those who walk in the Spirit, mortify the deeds of the body, and put on the Lord Jesus Christ. For “...they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.” (Galatians 5:24)
