Oops! Sorry about the order of these post. This blog post was supposed to be before the other two. Not sure if I can rearrange the order or not. October 18. Off we went to NTM clinic about 8:45 this morning to be there in time for my 9:15 appointment. Some early patients had come and gone, but otherwise there were no other patients the rest of the morning. A little later, Dr. Kevin told me that they had set aside a large slot for me. Little did they know how large a slot they were going to need. The first thing they dealt with was my nausea problem. Dr. Kevin was especially concerned about dehydration and possible low levels of sodium, potassium, and I-forget-what-all because of my not getting enough fluid for a week. So he ordered a blood test and IV fluids. He was amazed that the blood test showed everything normal and even in the middle of the normal range. He had thought about giving more than 500ml IV fluid, but stopped there when he saw that the blood tests were all good. It was already going on 1:00 by this time. They also did an EKG, of course, to check out the heart; and everything looks good as possible there, about the same as it has been. In the meantime, Daddy went down to the NTM store to see what he could buy, but the shelves were mostly empty. When he came back, Dr. Kevin went out into the waiting room to greet him. He told Dr. Kevin that he hadn’t come in with me because he has a cold. Dr. Kevin asked him if he would mind if they gave him a COVID test. So they did a COVID test, and the result – positive. Then they thought, they’d better test me, just for routine, but they didn’t suspect anything as I had no symptoms (supposedly). My result – positive. Then it dawned on Dr. Kevin that some people do just have nausea and weakness as symptoms. Anyway, now the clinic and everyone working there had been exposed; but we think the workers have all been vaccinated. But they had to close down the clinic for the rest of the day and disinfect everything. They can reopen tomorrow. We finally got back to the CRMF flat around 1:00. We are now quarantined in the CRMF flat for the next week and a half. Daddy has four medicines to take for COVID. I only have one to take because I can’t take the others with the heart medicine. I was also given an anti-nausea medicine to use when I need it (no more than twice a day). My heart meds aren’t here yet from Australia because several of NTM’s air service personnel are sick with COVID. They are hoping now to be able to get them by November 1 so we will be here in town for a while yet. The clinic did still have some on hand so gave me enough for another thirty days. Dr. Kevin said I’ll probably be weak for some time, but I especially need to drink as much as I can. And they told us to get lots of sunshine. Daddy is supposed to report to the doctor by e-mail every day and let him know how we are doing. Well, this is all I feel like writing now. I am still very tired after a long morning out. October 19. Praise the Lord for early morning sunshine and the opportunity to sit out a good while and also walk around some on the veranda. Daddy e-mailed a report to Dr. Kevin later in the morning as requested. In the afternoon, the Lord sent us rain.
