March 22. It was a very busy, tiring, and somewhat frustrating day. There was packing to do for our trip tomorrow, food to prepare, texts to send, letters and e-mails to write, a small load of clothes to wash and hang out, dishes to wash before church tonight…. And not everything went just right so I needed extra grace and a loving husband’s arms to give extra comfort. This evening, Pastor Ogle preached on Exodus 14, “There are times when we must stand still and times when we must move forward, both of these by faith.” God often puts us in specific places and has reasons for putting us in places that seem impossible. Israel went through the Red Sea by faith, Egypt by foolishness. Faith is based on the word of God, foolishness on the word of man. “But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour….” Titus 1:3 God chose to manifest His word through preaching. March 23. Had a hard time getting to sleep last night, and sleep was restless when I finally did get to sleep. I began to put two and two together -- hard to get to sleep, restless sleep, “fire pains” and leg jerks, headaches, fatigue -- and knew it was time to start on the parasite treatment again so did that first thing this morning. There were just a few things to do this morning to finish getting ready for a trip, and then Daddy fell, missing a step as he was going out the back door to take things to the car. Skinned his knee pretty good so had to take time to clean and patch that up. It was only a few minutes after 8:30 when we were packed up and ready to go, so we were just about on schedule. Post office would open at 8:30, and we had to stop there to mail an information packet to a church. From there we headed to Flying J in Blacksburg to get gas. Then headed east for the coast. Made one pit stop after turning onto 74 from I485 around Charlotte. Our next stop was for lunch at Golden Corral in Laurinton. Another pit stop later just outside of Wilmington. Made a wrong turn and went five miles the wrong direction. Finally got on the right road and arrived at Ruth and Tim’s around 4:00. Helped pass the time in the car by crocheting and taking about a half hour nap. Finished the other bootie (hooray!) except for the button which I didn’t bring with me. Then started on a turtle. For supper Ruthie fixed peas and spaghetti with meatball sauce. Then Ruthie and I did the dishes, and Lew and Tim went off to the store to get some coffee creamer. “7In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity, 8Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.” Titus 2:7,8 Strong challenge for GIBC and especially for the pastors. It is so important for them to show themselves an example, or resemblance, or print (pattern) of the things mentioned: good works; uncorruptness (that is, purity) in doctrine; gravity (honesty); sincerity (genuineness; freedom from hyprocisy); sound speech that cannot be condemned. If they are faithful to show that kind of example, those who are antagonistic to them will be ashamed because they won’t have anything evil to say about them.
