August 7. Up at 6:00 again. Got dressed and packed up. Fixed breakfast. Then Pastor & Candi came out, and we sat down together in the kitchen while we ate. A little after 7:30, we loaded up the car, said good-bye, and headed west toward home. Made a couple pit stops along the way. At a rest stop west of Burlington, there was a nice walking area so we took advantage of that. It was good to move our legs for a while. There was even a nice breeze, and the temperature wasn’t too high. We were thankful that traveling was more comfortable today because of rain and overcast skies. Before we got on the road again, we decided to call Fran & Margaret to see if they would like to meet us somewhere for lunch, but they were already eating. It was already after 12:00. So decided to go have lunch and then stop to see them a while afterward. We figured we would stop at Golden Corral in Greensboro for lunch. Fran said it was off Battleground somewhere. But what a time we had finding Battleground! Finally stopped at a gas station, and a helpful worker told Daddy how to get to Battleground. We had to travel quite a ways through town, but finally arrived at Golden Corral around 1:20. I was very thankful for a nice plateful of veggies and some meat, and felt very satisfied after I had eaten. From there it was only a couple minutes to Fran’s house. Spent a little over an hour with Fran and Margaret, but seems like we hardly had any time at all. Time goes too fast. Headed home via 40 and Hickory — no Charlotte on a weekday afternoon — and arrived around 6:00, thankful to the Lord for a safe trip. The evening was spent unpacking, chatting with C&C, doing dishes, and praying together before bed. “And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?” Genesis 3:9 Did God not know where Adam was? Can anyone hide from God? “There is no darkness, nor shadow of death, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.” Job 34:22 “Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the LORD.” Jeremiah 23:24 “Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.” Hebrews 4:13 August 8. A rainy day. We are thankful for the rain. Decided to wait until tomorrow to do wash so our things wouldn’t be hanging around the house, and Christy would have places to hang her things this afternoon. Spent a good part of the day getting journal notes caught up from the weekend. Also wrote a couple e-mails and spent time studying God’s Word. Now that journal notes are caught up, I need to get last week’s notes ready to send to Connie, write the July progress report, write the monthly update, and write thank you notes to those people we were with over the weekend. “And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.” Genesis 3:10 Sin brought fear. Man who once walked and talked with God was now separated from His presence and was afraid to talk with Him.
