August 16. The weather certainly changes from one day to the next. The sky was partly clear yesterday evening, and stars could be seen. But the temperature didn’t go down like it had the night before so I figured the heavens must be clouding up. Even though it was only partly cloudy all night, the night stayed fairly warm. This morning there was blue sky among the clouds, and there was no fog to be seen anywhere. It appeared like it was going to be a sunny day. But some time after 9:00, I heard rain falling. Now the sky was completely cloudy, and rain fell off and on the rest of the day. We could tell the day was going to stay cool. At break time, Dallas made a fire in the wood stove. He had to revive it before he went home, as it had gotten neglected toward the end of school. I filled the wood box up before nap, but the fire was all out by the time I got up. Guess I must have been tired after a busy week, as I had slept about an hour and a half. Before supper I worked on notes for the book of Galatians. Put the computer on to charge while I was having supper, and then spent time on that project again after supper. At 7:00, Daddy called, and we enjoyed some time talking together again. Afterward, I had my bath and then worked some more on the Galatians notes. “That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth.” Psalm 83:18 August 17. The Lord was so gracious to give us sunshine and strong winds this morning. After lotu, Anna Jean and Judy washed a load of clothes for me, by hand with plungers in the bathtub. Because of the nice weather the Lord gave us, the clothes were mostly dry by early afternoon. Had to hang a few in the schoolroom to finish drying. Later in the afternoon, the sky clouded over, the winds became chilly, and there were a few sprinkles of rain. After the girls washed the clothes, Anna Jean swept the floors, and Judy swept out the top shelf of the kitchen cupboard and took off all the old contact paper that was partly peeling off and was quite grubby. Now that shelf is ready to be covered with floor mat (linoleum). Judy also swept under the wood stove and burned the trash, and Anna Jean emptied the dish of ashes. I worked on Monday’s lesson plans, proofread and started reorganizing the notes on Galatians (have three pages of notes on Galatians 1 verse 1), wrote some math exercises on the chalkboard, and did some other little odd jobs. Right after lunch was when I brought the clothes in. After nap, I finished organizing the notes on Galatians. While the computer was recharging, I cleaned the counter top around the bathroom sink, scraped loose paint off, cut linoleum to fit and glued it in place. That bathroom counter top looks a hundred times better now. Before supper, I started getting more journal notes ready to send to Connie. Thomas came just about the time my supper was hot, and he wanted some help with understanding a couple verses that he was thinking of using in his preaching tomorrow. So my supper got a little cold and ended up being somewhat late. I put dish water on to heat before I finished eating, and finished washing dishes just in time for Daddy’s phone call. Enjoyed a nice long chat with my best friend. At first the connection was not very good; but after we got cut off and he called back, the reception was much better. After that, I finished getting journal notes ready to go to Connie and then worked on the quarterly newsletter. “11For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. 12O LORD of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.” Psalm 84:11,12
