March 11. I was so tired last night that I went right to sleep and didn’t wake up until after 3:30. Then back to sleep until 6:15. Up for a shower, Bible reading, breakfast, and getting everything together for our day out. Left here just about 8:30 as planned. Arrived at Roger’s (a friend) house just about 9:30 as planned, after making a pit stop. From there we headed to Waxhaw, arriving at JAARS around 10:30. We went to the alphabet museum first. One thing that was really interesting was the story of the Korean alphabet. The king of Korea studied how and where the sounds were made in the mouth and formed the letters according to the shape of that part of the mouth. He wanted to make an alphabet that the common people could easily relate to and learn how to read. They people caught on very quickly and more and more people learned to read. The king never made any written records of his work because he was afraid the higher ups in the country would assassinate him, but he had his seamstresses sew “designs” (all the symbols) into the inside of his clothing and shoes. The seamstresses had no idea what those “designs” were, but thought it was strange that he wanted them sewn into his garments. After the museum, we drove down to the lake. Daddy and Roger went over to the tents to look at solar panels, batteries, and inverters. Daddy also bought a hamburger for his lunch. The Jaars’ teens were selling hot dogs and hamburgers. C & C and I sat in the car and ate the lunch we brought with us. Last stop was the hangar for the demonstration of the helio courier and of the helicopter slinging something underneath. I didn’t get out of the car as my legs were hurting too much. After that, we took Roger back home and then came home. Arrived home sometime around 4:30, and lay down for nap around 4:45. Didn’t get up until 6:15. I think I could have slept all night if it weren’t for getting hungry. When we were just about home, we noticed that the roof of the pretty blue house on the street around the corner, had been burnt out by fire. The third fire on this block in the past three months. So sad for these people to lose their homes. Please pray for these people that lost their home. It was a pretty house, and they had just spent some money putting in a new driveway and fixing the house up to look nice. Now it is of no use any more. They were able to salvage some items. This evening, I finished a hat I was making to go with Connie’s vest that she made for herself. “12Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. 13Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. 14Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery. 15Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all. 16Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.” I Timothy 4:12-16 Great words of exhortation for the Owena pastors and other young pastors, and profitable for anyone else too.
