August 6. The Morrows left at 7:30 this morning for a craft show in another area. After breakfast, Daddy and I packed up for our trip to LaCrosse. Then I did some crocheting and wrote some e-mails. A little after 11:00, we and Amanda ate lunch together; and around noon, we loaded up things in the car and started on our journey. In the car, I finished crocheting the baby bonnet to go with the dress. Made one pit stop along the way. When we got to Tomah, we stopped at WalMart and exercised our legs walking around the store. While we were there, I found some pretty pink ribbon for the hat. Will also add some ribbon to the dress, but didn’t have any sewing stuff with me in my crochet bag. Daddy looked again for a watch, but Walmart doesn’t have digital watches with expandable strap like he wants. He also looked for shoes, but there wasn’t much selection of men’s shoes at all, other than sport shoes. We made one more pit stop as we got to Holmen (near LaCrosse) so we wouldn’t have to rush and do that as soon as we got to the home where we will be staying for the weekend. Brad and Ann Rediske are our hosts. They have three children - two daughters who are out working so we didn’t meet them this evening, and a son who will be a freshman in high school this fall. The Rediskes have a nice house which was built for them here, and we have a nice quiet room in the basement. The children’s bedrooms are all in the basement which is fully furnished. After supper, we sat out on the deck and talked until 8:30 or so. Now we are tired and preparing to go to bed soon. August 7. Praise the Lord for a comfortable sleep last night. We left around 8:30 this morning for LaCrosse. Followed the Rediskes to Faith Baptist Church, arriving around 9:00. Set up our display and talked with Pastor Terpstra and other people before Sunday school which was at 9:30. We could not find the DVD with our slide presentation anywhere. Must have left it at Madison. Thankfully Ann was able to find the video presentation online. We noticed, however, that it isn’t the updated one. During the Sunday school hour, the presentation was shown, and the rest of the time was used for question/answer session. Pastor Terpstra preached in the main meeting from Romans 7:7-25, The Enemy Within. We were able to find our own way back to the Rediskes house using GPS, as the Rediskes had to make a stop somewhere else. Pastor Terpstra came and joined us for lunch of sandwiches, chips, and finger veggies. He left early to go home and sleep, as he had gotten back from Florida late yesterday evening and gotten to bed even later so was quite tired. His wife is still in Florida with their son and wife and grandchildren, including a new baby. Daddy set the GPS to take us back to church in the evening as the Rediskes had to leave early for a VBS meeting at church. Daddy and I left a little before 5:00 for a 6:00 meeting. Arrived around 5:30 and had time to talk with folks before the meeting. Daddy preached the evening message “Mission Unaccomplished”, and gave a good missions challenge. Spent a good amount of time talking with people after the meeting, including the pastor. Came home and had a light supper and spent more time chatting with the Rediskes before they went to bed. They will leave out for work early in the morning. and their son will be gone before we get up. Now it is 10:30, and time for bed. Good night. “26And thence sailed to Antioch, from whence they had been recommended to the grace of God for the work which they fulfilled. 27And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles.” Acts 14:26,27 It is important for us, as with Paul and Barnabas, when our work has been fulfilled which we have been sent to do, to return to those who sent us, gather the church together, and rehearse all that God has done together with us.
