August 3. Was up for a while in the middle of the night last night dealing with a sore throat and bad earache. Had taken Clear Lungs before bed. Took Echinacea and white willow during the night, but the earache just kept getting worse. Finally ended up taking Ibuprofen. Ugh! Up by 6:00 this morning so I could shower and wash my hair before our hosts got up. After breakfast, we packed a few things to take with us this afternoon. Then we went for a very short walk because it was already pretty warm and quite humid. When we got back, I finished up the e-mail to Connie and sent that off with some pictures. Then we talked for a while with the Morrows. Before lunch, we packed up a few things to take with us to Madison later in the afternoon. Finished packing up after nap. Left Black Creek about 3:00 and headed for Madison using the GPS someone had given to Palmers to give to a missionary. Palmers gave it to Daddy. We got the GPS confused a couple times when we took a different road or made a pit stop. Stopped at a Walmart Subway in Sun Prairie for supper. Arrived at Madison Baptist Church around 6:00. Sat in the car a few minutes, and then the pastor came over. The parsonage is next door to the church. After greeting the pastor, we went inside. Daddy got changed into his suit while I set up the display. The next person to arrive was Pat. What a joy to finally meet Pat! We had a few minutes to chat with her until other people started coming in. There were a good number of folks in attendance at the meetings, including children and young people. Pat sat with Daddy and me. After a few songs and announcements, Pastor Weiss turned the meeting over to Daddy. Daddy showed the presentation first. That was followed by question/answer time, and then preaching. His topic was “Why Do Missionaries…?” and he gave Biblical reasons for different aspects of missionary work. At 8:00, prayer lists were handed out and people divided up to pray. Daddy prayed with the pastor, and Pat and I prayed together. We enjoyed the fellowship and talking with other people after the meeting. Then we headed over to the pastor’s house where we are staying in their basement apartment. The pastor took Daddy and me out for a bite to eat, and his eldest son Daniel went along too. Daddy and I weren’t really hungry. I just had a scoop of ice cream, and Daddy had two. We were glad for the time with Pastor Weiss. “And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost.” Acts 13:52 Persecution should cause us to be filled with joy and with the Holy Ghost. August 4. Both of us are tired this evening. We slept in until almost 6:30 this morning, thankful for a comfortable and quiet night. Didn’t have to hurry to go anywhere as we were to go to Pat’s at 11:00 for fellowship and then lunch. Had breakfast and quiet time. Looked through books that Pastor Weiss said we could choose from and picked out a few. About 10:15, we loaded up the car and went over to the church to get directions to Pat’s house. Pastor was out so David looked up directions on the internet and printed them out. Gave the pastor a bilum to give his wife. Then he prayed with us before we left for Pat’s. The directions to Pat’s house were a bit complicated, but we finally found it. Actually it turned out good that we got there a bit late because she had been out getting the food for lunch and just drove up as we were ready to find our way into the building. She beeped her horn, and we waited for her. Her apartment is on the third floor, and we were happy to go up on the elevator. We sat and talked until Darlene came to join us for lunch. While we were waiting, I asked Pat to share her testimony, and then she asked for mine. At 12:00, Darlene arrived. She is another church member who faithfully prays for us. Shortly, we sat down for lunch and more fellowship together. Around 1:30, we got ready to leave. Had a couple stops to make on the way back. What a wonderful time we had had together! I praise the Lord for such a dear friend! We weren’t on the road long, before my eyes closed, and I was in dreamland. Woke up when Daddy pulled off an exit in Fond du Lac. We stopped at Love’s first - pit stop and gas. They are having a gas war down there, and gas was down to $2.02 today. Then we stopped at Kwik Trip because we had seen that the bananas were only 38 cents a pound. On the way to our next stop, Walmart, we could see that the skies were getting pretty dark. We hoped we would get there before the rain started. Praise the Lord, we just got into the store when it started pouring. Thankfully it was a short shower and was over by the time we were ready to leave. Daddy had knocked his watch on the floor during the night, and it stopped working. He wanted to try to get it fixed or get a new one. While he was checking on that, I went to find some little pink buttons for the baby dress I had just finished. Found some pretty buttons, but Daddy didn’t find anyone to help him with his watch. Paid for the buttons and then went to Dollar Tree to get an anniversary card for the Morrows whose anniversary is the same day as Daddy’s birthday. Also wanted to get more snacks for the road. Back on the road again and headed for Black Creek. Another storm was brewing, and we arrived back at the Morrows’ just before it hit. Praise the Lord for a safe trip back! Grace and Don fixed pancakes, sausage, and eggs for supper. After supper, Daddy had a nap. I talked with Don and Grace for a while. When Daddy got up, we got out the computers. August 5. Was really tired last night, and went to bed a bit early. Today was a quieter and more relaxing day, and it didn’t get very hot today. Right after breakfast, I put in a load of laundry, and then Daddy and I went for a walk. When we got back, I sewed the buttons on the baby dress, wrote an e-mail to the girls and sent them a vitamin order, worked on transferring and editing pictures. This afternoon, I wrote a couple thank you notes and started hemming on my my good dress. After supper, we went for another walk. Tried to take some more pictures, but the camera batteries were low so some of the pictures didn’t come out too good. “Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.” Acts 14:22 It is important to return to the churches that have been established under our ministry, to confirm the souls of the disciples, to exhort them to continue in the faith, and to remind them that they will face much tribulation on this earth.
