March 26. Got up right at 6:00 this morning so we could finish packing up and be ready to go by 8:00. It didn’t take us nearly as long to get ready as we expected it to so we had a little time to sit and chat a while before leaving. At 8:00, we said our good-byes to Ruth and Tim and were on our way to Havelock. We had enjoyed our stay with them. We expected the trip to Havelock to take about an hour and a half, and it was a little under that when we arrived at Freedom Baptist Church. Went in and got our display set up and visited with the Kohrs and other people who arrived early. How good it was to see Jim and Susan again! and Shannon too! I didn’t recognize her at first. She was just a young girl when I last saw her, and she had straight hair. Now she has very curly hair. She is a lovely young lady with a sweet smile. We enjoyed meeting and talking with a number of others throughout the day -- the adult Sunday school teacher, Ed, and his wife (wish I could remember everyone’s names); and others too. It was interesting how the Lord set the stage for Daddy’s preaching when Ed taught the Sunday school class from the book of Luke on the feeding of the five thousand, with references to the other gospels. Then Daddy preached in the morning service on the Missions Miracle, John 6:1-13. Several people expressed by a show of hands that they were willing to say “Here am I, Lord, send me.” Praise the Lord for the power of His word! The Kohrs took us out to dinner to an Amish restaurant in New Bern. Anthony and the children went along as well as another man whose name we can’t remember. Anthony and Libby were just saved this past July. After dinner, Daddy and I went to the motel (Holiday Inn Express) that had been booked for us) and were refreshed with an afternoon nap. Headed back to the church a little before 6:00 for the 6:30 evening service. The presentation was shown first, and the rest of the time was given to questions and answers. Afterward we went out with the Kohrs to The Big Apple for our evening meal. It was a really nice place, and the workers were very nice. I wasn’t going to get a drink, but just have my water that was in the car, like usual. However, Daddy got a mocha iced coffee, and when I tasted it, I said, “Mmmm, that’s good. I need some of that.” So Bro. Jim brought me a glass and I filled it up. When that was gone, I got another half glass full. Had ordered a beef and lamb gyro which was pretty good, but very filling. Couldn’t eat all of it. We were glad for that time of fellowship together with the Kohrs. Praise the Lord that He has brought them through many difficult times in that ministry and is also beginning to rebuild the church. Truly the Lord has placed them in a genuine ministry of spiritual healing. When we got back to the church to get our car and go to the motel, Daddy and Jim went to get prayer cards and brochures out of our van so Bro. Jim can take them to a pastors’ fellowship on Tuesday. I was standing outside talking with Susan and Shannon, waiting for Daddy to call for me. After a while I was getting cold, so we ladies got back into the Kohrs’ van to wait. Finally the men came over. While we had been waiting for them to get done talking, they had been waiting for us. Oh, well, we certainly enjoyed the fellowship anyway. “4But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, 5Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; 6Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; 7That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.” Titus 3:4-7 Praise God for His kindness, love, mercy, and grace, without which we could not be saved and cleansed from our sins because our works of righteousness are nothing but filthy rags in God’s sight, and without which we could not be justified or have any hope of eternal life. Praise God that the renewing of the Holy Ghost is not just given to us in a small measure, but is shed on us abundantly (copiously, richly), and all through the work of Jesus Christ our Saviour. How I thank the Lord for such a loving Saviour as mine!
