March 12. Woke up this morning to winter. A gentle white snow was fluttering down from the clouds, sticking to the trees, but melting quickly off the ground. It was still coming down when we left for church, but the roads were clear. I wished I had brought my camera because I was dying to get some pictures. Took a couple pictures from the car with Connie’s camera, but it was hard to get good ones from the car. Connie went out in back of the church after we got there and took a few photos. Mrs. Bru taught ladies’ Sunday school class this morning. Her theme was flowers relating to the tongue or our speech, for examples, the snapdragon to represent snapping at others, bachelor button to remind us to keep our lips buttoned, elephant ears to represent listening to gossip, sweet William to represent a sweet disposition, etc. By the time Sunday school was over, the sun was shining, and the snow looked even more beautiful. Pastor Ogle preached a missions message, The White Fields, from John 4. “We must look on the world the way Jesus does.” “When we do what God has asked us to do the fruit will come! Are you faithful to do what He asked you to do?” On the way home from church, we went by way of Blacksburg to get gas. The snow was melting fast, and by the time we got back to Shelby, you would never know it had even snowed. This evening, we had another missionary message. Daddy was given time to tell about his trip and then preach. He shared about the trip first, and then we sang a chorus and Jim Bishop sang a special. Then Daddy preached the missions message from John 6. He had changed the message a bit, and it was obvious the Lord was speaking to hearts. The room was very quiet, and the atmosphere very somber. He challenged people to consider the hard to reach areas of the world. He ended by letting people know that the Lord is directing our way back to PNG. As we traveled home this evening, we could see behind us the moon. It looked like a beautiful harvest moon in the eastern sky. Reminds us again that there is a harvest waiting to be reaped, but the laborers are few. It was about 8:15 when we got home. Had a bite to eat and then did dishes.
