March 12. It was so nice to sleep in our own bed and own room last night. Got up about 5:45 this morning to get ready for our trip – do last minute packing, wash dishes that I was too tired to wash last night, eat breakfast. Left the house around 7:35, expecting to arrive at our destination around 3:30 or 4:00. Made a half hour stop for lunch at Subway a little after 12 noon about four miles into Virginia, and arrived at the Clark’s home area around 2:00. Since we were so early, however, we didn’t stop at the house right away, but went on up the road and found a couple places to stop. Looked around Dollar General but didn’t find much other than a little notebook to use in the car for our travel log. Then we went back to a thrift store we had seen on the way. There I found a bag for my crocheting, a black/gray sweater, a red dress. The big bag actually had another little bag inside it which wasn’t supposed to be there, but they gave me the two of them together for the one price. After that, we went back to Cascade Creek where the Clark’s live. Visited a little bit with them before freshening up and going off to Olive Garden in Short Pump to meet the Jessups for supper. We had to wait quite a while for our meal and the waiter kept coming out and apologizing. He didn’t really say what happened, but said he didn’t feel good about something and wanted to bring all our meals at the same time so we could all start eating together. Finally the manager came out and talked with us too and apologized for the problem. Not only that, he said that our meals for the evening were on the house (about $90 worth) and also gave Bro. Clark a gift card for future meals. We enjoyed a good evening of fellowship with the Jessups and Clarks. By the time we got back to the house, I was really tired. Even though it was only 7:45 (8:45 with daylight savings time coming on overnight), I said good-night and headed for bed. “77To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins, 78Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us, 79To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.” Luke 1:77-79 March 13. Even though I went to bed early, I didn’t get up until 7:00 this morning. By the time I had showered, and had quiet time and breakfast, it was about time to head for church. When we arrived, we set up our display and stood around to talk to people before Sunday school. Daddy taught the adult class covering some of the “Why’s” of missionary work. Bro. Jessup preached from II Corinthians 4 in the main service, emphasizing the phrase “we faint not.” It was an excellent, thought-provoking message. By the time we got back to the house, it was already 3:00 or so. After about an hour nap, it was time to get ready to go back again to the church. They needed to set up for the fellowship which would follow the evening service. This evening, we showed our presentation, but had to change the pictures manually and read the script. It was hard to keep up with clicking and reading at the same time so a few times one or the other got behind. Following the slide show, Daddy preached on the missions miracle from John 6. It went along well with Bro. Jessup’s morning message. We enjoyed a good time of fellowship afterward, and we are thankful for a good day of fellowship and feasting on the Word today. “3And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints. 4Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest.” Revelation 15:3,4
