January 3. The Lord gave us a very foggy morning, but sunshine in the afternoon. After breakfast and quiet time, I started packing for going to town on Monday. MAF called and said their plane was down in Simogu, and they were sending mechanics in to fix it. If they could get it fixed, our flight is still scheduled for Monday. Praise the Lord, they did get it fixed. I also worked on my painting this morning. Had done a little on it Wednesday and a little yesterday, and decided I would just take a break from other things and try to finish the painting today. Around 11:00, we called C&C to let them know that we have not been able to receive/send any e-mails. Sorry to learn that Christy is sick in bed. After talking with Connie a few minutes, we went outside to burn the trash, and then decided to go for a walk. So Daddy locked up the house and we went over to the airstrip and just a short way up. My hips and knees have been quite painful lately, especially at night. I have had to rub with Bio-Freeze in the middle of the night the past few nights. When we got back from our walk, I spent a few more minutes on painting and then warmed up dinner. Painted again after nap until the painting was finished. Praise the for His help and the enjoyment of painting. When that was done, it was time to work in the kitchen and make tortillas for my supper. While I was in the middle of that task and we were getting ready to sit down and eat supper, “T” came to ask about marriage. Is it okay to marry even though she had a relationship with a young man some years ago? It is fine; but now that she is saved, she needs to ask the Lord for a Christian husband. As soon as the generator was on this evening, I pureed the soup that I forgot to puree last night. Then I washed the dishes — lots of them since I used the blender, and emptied the soup out of the big pressure cooker, and made tortillas. Finally time to sit down and relax and write in journal, print out shopping list and a new list of things to take to town. January 4. Written on the 5th. The day started out fairly normal. Seven o’clock lotu started about 7:40. Afterward Sunny washed clothes—three loads—so we wouldn’t have dirty clothes left here to be washed when we get back from town. I helped her hang them out. Then we had a cup of coffee before she swept the floors. The rest of the morning, I did some packing, I think. After dinner, I started feeling sick to my stomach. Don’t remember what I did the rest of the afternoon following nap; but by supper time, I was feeling rather wiped out. There weren’t very many dishes, and I did have enough energy to do those. Then I had Daddy put water on for bath, but before the water got hot, I was feeling very weak and just went right to bed. Chills, then fever, severe headache, sick stomach, very weak. Took some activated charcoal and some artemisinin.
