October 2. Praise the Lord for sunshine this morning after the heavy downpour last night. By noon, the weather was already turning to rainy with drizzles every now and then. Back to school today. Praise the Lord for His strength and that things went well. Praise the Lord for Judy’s help with some of the drills. Judy said that a group of men did work at cutting the airstrip, but she didn’t know how many or when/if they finished because she was with me in school. She did say that they started in the middle and were working their way to the top, but did they get there before the rain came? Who knows? Nobody brought a report. After nap, the sun was shining a while again, and I was thankful that the air warmed up enough for me to be able to take a bath. Judy said that Amos and Mata have been going to English school every day except Monday (I think she said Monday). This evening, I worked on future Bible lessons for the rest of this last term of school. Have a good ways to go yet. So good to have time to talk with Daddy this evening even though we did get disconnected several times. It looks like Famiri is trying to work in a flight for him — perhaps tomorrow afternoon or Thursday morning. October 3. It rained all night again. After the fog lifted, the morning was somewhat sunny. I wasn’t expecting Anna Jean to come this morning to do laundry as she had been dealing with a bad boil; but she showed up right at 7:00. I hadn’t felt up to filling the washing machine so she had to do that first, but I was very thankful to get the laundry done. Anna Jean said her boil has been draining so she is feeling quite a bit better. I was thankful, too, that the clothes got almost all dry before the rains came. Just two large towels and a washcloth weren’t completely dry. As soon as school ended, I went to latch the front screen door after Bonita left and saw the rain down at the river. “It’s raining,” I said. “I’d better hurry and get the clothes in.” So off I dashed to get the clothes basket and clothespin bag. Hurried down the back steps and started taking down the clothes. The rain was already spitting a bit but not enough yet to make the clothes wet. I was glad that I got them in because it wasn’t long after that that the temperature began dropping, blustery winds began to blow, and a good rain came down. I knew that Daddy wouldn’t be coming home today.
