December 7. A mix of sunshine and clouds today, but the air felt fresh and warm when the sun was shining. The first half of the morning, I busied myself writing some e-mails and deleting others. During my morning break, I took the temporary back off Daddy’s desk and cut it to fit on top plus extra to give the desk more depth. This I did so we can use the baseboard heater that is behind the desk as it seems that the motor of the portable heater may be going bad. Also my feet get really cold on the colder (and especially damper) days so having the baseboard heat by my feet under my desk would be very welcome. The second half of the morning, I started working on our PNG story, and continued work on that this afternoon. I talked with Daddy for a while. He did not get into Owena yesterday because of plane problems so is scheduled to go on the first flight this morning if the weather opens up. Finished Ruthie’s first doily yesterday evening. It is exciting to have that done. I will make one more and then mail them to her. Pastor Ogle’s teaching was on Exodus chapter 6 this evening. It was an exciting message about the authority of Jehovah God. “We must trust God even when the results we expect are not there.” “No matter how much the enemy may war and rage against us, he cannot beat God.” It’s easy to get fired up over a message like that. “17Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 18And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; 19To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.” II Corinthians 5:17-19 ANY one who is in Christ is a new creature. EVERYthing is new for a new creature in Christ. His life is no longer the same. And ALL things are of God. Through the work of Jesus Christ, He has brought us back into fellowship with Himself, and He has entrusted us with the ministry of bringing others into reconciliation with Himself. What an awesome ministry! December 8. Chilly and cloudy today. Wrote a couple e-mails this morning. Took a break and did the dishes since they didn’t get done yesterday. Then I got the income report updated. The afternoon was spent working on the translation print file and on the youth lessons. A little after 4:30, I called Daddy to see if he had made it into Owena yet. Praise the Lord, he did get in yesterday morning around 9:00 (Thursday morning there, or Wednesday evening around 6:00 here). The Lord gave them a nice sunny morning. He and some others spent the day scrubbing the house and doing repairs. He had asked the people to send an empty diesel drum out to town so he could bring in diesel, but they never did. So he isn’t able to use the generator either. One of the pilots is going to try to get him some diesel if and when he can. He plans to meet with Pastor Amos and the deacons on Saturday morning after lotu (church) to discuss his schedule for the time he’ll be there.
