April 8. Back to cold weather again this morning. The parking lot was crowded again when we got to church this morning. Daddy dropped us off at the door and then went back around to find a parking spot. Pastor Ogle preached this morning on I Peter 3:1-6, Quietly Putting Up a Billboard, dealing with how the power of the gospel impacts those around us, encouraging the ladies to be like Sarah and to trust God no matter how their husbands respond. We got home a bit late after the meeting, for two reasons. First of all, there was a teachers’ meeting after the service so we had to wait for Christy as she was in the meeting. Then as we neared the Buffalo River bridge just before coming into Shelby, traffic had come to a halt. Apparently there was an accident up ahead somewhere. If we waited, how long would we have to wait? We were right at the left turn for Harmon Road so followed several other vehicles off that direction, particularly an electric company truck. After several turns, the truck led us to Caleb Road, and from there we knew we could get back on 74 near Marion Street. Even though it seemed like somewhat of a long way around, when we pulled out onto the access road alongside 74, we could see that there was no traffic coming from the east. So we were thankful we had gone around, or who knows how long we would have been waiting for traffic to move? By the time we had lunch and nap, it was already 4:00. In the evening, we listened to a Sunday school lesson about Joshua taught by Pastor Weiss. Joshua’s secret of success is found in Joshua 1:7-9, “7Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest. 8This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. 9Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”
