May 25. Praise the Lord for a little rain this morning. The weather the past two weeks has been quite dry although it has not been too hot. There have been strong, cold winds to keep the temperatures moderate. Dallas and Mike were fairly late for school this morning. Dallas’s watch was slow, and Mike is still not feeling very well. Everyone did well in school, however, and the men are really improving in their outreach presentations. Before supper, I started making some banana muffins so I could have some healthy evening snacks besides oatmeal and other cereal. Didn’t get to finish them until after supper, however, as there were several interruptions. Used fresh grated ginger root and grated lemon rind to flavor them and added some yummy chopped pecans, too, to add to the flavor and texture of the muffins. Enjoyed a couple of them for snack this evening. When I looked at my birthday list this afternoon, I saw that Judy Jevin’s birthday had passed by yesterday so I’ll need to get a little something together to send down to her. I don’t know if she even realizes that it was her birthday, but I would still like to give her something. “The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.” Jeremiah 31:3 Thank you, Lord, for your everlasting love and lovingkindness. May 26. This afternoon, the Lord sent us thunderstorms, the first good rain we have had in two or three weeks. We thank the Lord for watering the thirsty ground and the people’s gardens. This evening, Nuanda came to visit with Daddy a while. Their church has decided that they want Daddy to come and preach to them in a few weeks. They felt that, while he still may have enough strength to go down to the village, they want to hear him preach one more time. They will have him preach once a day on missions from the 16th to the 21st of June. (Sadly, this ended up not happening because this was the only dates that Dad could get a flight out to town to buy supplies. But the church was able to have its missions conference anyway, and that is exciting.)
