August 25. The Lord gave us another dry day today, and mostly sunshine, with periods of clouds. There were more fires on the mountains and more smoke and ashes coming into the house. My eye was quite irritated, so I only worked at the computer about an hour this afternoon, trying to get the gospel of Matthew ready to print so the men can proofread it. It was pancake day, and I was thankful that we had a ripe popo so I could cook up a small portion to put on my pancakes along with some banana. I had only cooked three pancakes and had just done Daddy’s eggs and put more pancake dough in the pan when I noticed that the flame was getting lower and lower. Oh, oh! Gas is running out. The pancake in the pan did get done, but it is quite pale. As soon as Daddy changed the gas tank, we were back in business again. After breakfast this morning, Daddy tried once again to send the e-mails; and, praise the Lord, all three e-mails went out. People were here much earlier than usual for lotu so we were able to start earlier. Dallas came at least twenty minutes early to practice for the special music today. The rest of them were here by a little before 10:00, and we practiced our two songs. It wasn’t long after that that Dallas started the song service. Daddy preached this morning, starting the lesson on meeting together with the church. This afternoon, Amos preached on the fate of the rich who have no thought for God. Following the afternoon lotu, Amos, Philemon, and Tomas stayed around for quite a while and talked. Then I worked on the Matthew file and by the time the computer battery ran low, it was supper time. Did the dishes right after supper; and as soon as I had finished, it was time for Daddy to turn on the generator so I started right in pureeing the soup I had cooked yesterday. After that, I wrote in my journal, had a bath, had a snack, and worked more on Matthew.
