August 19. Woke up to a mostly clear, blue sky morning, with just some patchy fog on the ridges (no fog coming up out of the valleys). Praise the Lord, it would be a perfect morning for NTM to bring in the drum of fuel. The NTM flight coordinator called around 7:30 for weather. Bonita came early for school so I asked her to let her father know the plane would be coming and ask him if he could make sure that some people were there to bring the drum of fuel down. Also had her ask him to remind Tomas to take the tire over to the airstrip for them to drop the drum onto. Dallas came a few minutes early for school so I asked him to make a fire, for one to take the chill off the house, especially as I had started getting a sore throat yesterday, but also so that I could boil water for drinking. He was all done making the fire before Mike came. Mike came while we were getting prayer requests, and then Dallas prayed. After prayer, we started learning 1 John 2:4 in Owena. Then I had them start working on writing their testimony of salvation. I hadn’t been able to get another lesson ready since I haven’t had the use of a printer, except for photo copying. The plane came around 8:50. We started music class, but after the plane left, I asked the class to listen for someone coming with the diesel drum. About ten minutes before the end of class, they were coming so Mike went out with the key to open the generator shed for them to put the fuel in. Then I paid them—soap for three and Maggi noodles for one. After they left, we still had five minutes left for class so we came back and practiced our song again. Then we had recess and afterward they had math class. While they were finishing the lesson they had started Friday, I started washing out a handful of clothes by hand. Then we started looking at a new math lesson. While they were working on an English lesson, I rinsed the clothes and hung them out. We finished the chapter review in history and now they will be studying for the chapter test. Didn’t get done with history class until around 1:20. Then I warmed up my dinner and ate, and it was after 2:00 before I lay down for nap. This afternoon, I put the finishing touches on the newsletter and practiced keyboard. After supper, I put math exercises on the chalkboard for tomorrow and then put water on to heat for my bath. Wanted to get my bath early before it got too cold. Then I made photo copies of a math quiz, the history test, and an English worksheet before Daddy called. After a nice chat with Daddy, I made lesson plans for tomorrow. Then did a little computer work before doing dishes. “1A Prayer of David. Bow down thine ear, O LORD, hear me: for I am poor and needy…. 5For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee…. 8Among the gods there is none like unto thee, O Lord; neither are there any works like unto thy works…. 10For thou art great, and doest wondrous things: thou art God alone. 11Teach me thy way, O LORD; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name. 12I will praise thee, O Lord my God, with all my heart: and I will glorify thy name for evermore. 13For great is thy mercy toward me: and thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest hell….. 15But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth.” Psalm 86:1,5,8,10-13,15 Truly there is no God like unto the LORD! August 20. The Lord gave us another lovely morning with blue sky and sunshine. There was fog this morning, but it was gone before 9:30. By early afternoon, there were high clouds and strong, chilly winds, and the sunshine had run away. Dallas came early again this morning and made a fire. In Bible class, the students continued writing their testimonies so I had time to put eggs on the wood stove to boil, and time to keep an eye on them and take care of them. Also did a couple other jobs in the kitchen. I let the students go home a few minutes earlier today, right after we reviewed their history study exercises and vocabulary. So I was able to have a little bit earlier lunch and earlier nap. After nap, I washed my hair, graded English lessons, wrote math exercises on the chalkboard. Washed up today’s dishes after supper—there were just a few; played keyboard a bit; worked on computer until just before 7:00. Then enjoyed another nice chat time with my best earthly friend.
